This is for all those who have the courage to dream and share their idea's with the community and the world.

Anyway today I figured something out that made me just want to give off the smallest smile.

Scathing eye's ask that we all be symmetrical and easily one sided. However each misshapen heart sparks an unseen beauty greater than it's would be punishment.

I guess it just reminded me of this place and made me think about how many people don't create thread's for fear of scrutiny. So many people have all these wonderful idea's, dream's and hope's to share with the world. The people outside each have hopes and dream's too. Just because it's a bad idea doesn't mean we cant improve it. Sometimes people will try to crush a hope or a dream and we've all probably experienced that at one point in our lives. Some know this better than others. But please if you have something interesting to say go for it, even if it's religious and radical I can't stop you. You make the choice over what you post and what you do. You're the one deciding what to put up and edit, not any of us here. Everyone face's scrutiny, don't give up so easy or you'll have lost the game before it started.

So start typing

Absolutely and second the motion.

Tens of thousands of us here and we all have different interests and points of view. I for one would like to hear every one of them. May not agree with them all but that isn't really the point anyway.

Beware grammar Nazi's (but please use paragraphs.)

I wasn't meaning you.

Sorry if it came out that way. I think you laid it out quite well.

Looks like my grammar was a failure this time. There's Karma for you, eh?

Hmm, never give up especially if you throw the peach pit of experience at the bin of success and it misses. For only when you do not get up from the couch of stability and venture over the floor of unknowing to try again, does it stick to the carpet of failure and you have a really hard time pulling out especially if it's a rather nice shag carpet that cost you a lot of money only a few years ago.

No one likes that.

I must confess to being reluctent on occasion of posting something I have come across or thought about. Just not worth the attack some members feel they need to pursue to make themselves feel smartly or whatever the case may be. Seems it has been more so lately with the newer members.

A good example happened just recently with a older members posting something they saw, a experience they had. That thread got so bad it had to be shut down. I'm sure many of you know to which thread I refer. It was sad really. To make matters worse it was in the grey area forum, yet it still didn't seem to matter. The attacks kept coming. The redundency of the same questions of requirments of proof, the disbelief that someone doesn't have a camera in this day and age, it was just all pretty ridiculous and not very high standered of ATS as all.

I'm sure many great things or thoughts get missed just because members don't feel it is worth the battle. Someone clearly yanking chains or hoaxing is one thing, "clearly" being the operative word, too question someone's theory about something in a civilized manner should be the rule of thumb.

Sigh, I wonder where the world would be these days if we didn't have the people we do that think outside the box... Seems all the greats have a rocky road to travel I suppose. Just be sad to think ATS may have had some in their presence and they got shot down....

All it takes is a small idea. The smallest idea can always bring light to the dark.

It makes me kind of sad to hear that and I agree it can happen but usually it doesn't. Some forums seem tougher than others and in a way I can agree with that reality. As example is the military and weapons forums members will often require specifics if you come out with a blatant statement on something. In the space forums folks will expect you know what you're talking about.

Other places seem more open to wide perspectives and opinions such as (believe it or not) the political, global meltdown and social issues forums. Guess the main thing I've seen is "Know your own mind and beliefs." Stand by them but don't be afraid to look at other peoples opinions. When you're wrong or make a mistake say so. That in itself carries a lot of weight and seems much more productive to simply fighting on. Also ignore the trolls and derailers and don't be afraid to use the alert button if things go south because of such things. Just my 2 cents.

Haha! Or i feel like ill just get shot down for certain opinions or theories but thats life!

What a great post. You know, I think one skill is to make good points that people like. I think another skill - one that's more powerful and important - is the ability to get something good from all kinds of different points people make. If you have this skill, even if someone says something that you know for a fact is wrong, than you can get something out of it... even if its just the knowledge that this false idea is floating around. More often than not though, there's some ray of truth in what people say, if we are just willing to really listen. That's why its important to not be silent. Every one has something to say.

I have not posted many things, due to the nature of just a few people here. Which is sad really.

As far as that thread goes, I did read it. While I'm not sure how I feel about it, the attacks were just cruel and unwarranted.
I've tried to put a positive spin on it, in my own mind. If something like that does ever happen to anyone else, and they post it here, the OP will be vindicated, and more than likely the first person to help the new one get answers, or at least positive feedback.

Up with the arty, down with the snarky.

I agree with the OP's sentiment. Hell, everyone has dealt with rejection in some form of which can sometimes be on a more personal level. It's a great thing to learn from this and gain tough skin.

However, it seems the majority of us associate this rejection as something to be endured and to cradle our ego. Our society has conditioned us to feel that and instead go towards this reinforced empowering approval from the rest of the world.

I think once one accepts their difference in opinion and deflects rejection from others, that person will come out of their comfort zone and build courage.

Who knows...in this totally abstract talk, perhaps in one scenario all the rejection someone took in stride might change the conversation and get a nod of approval with some other people who share the same ideas.

My problem is my grammar is horrible! Then I want to type something, but cant put pictures in there where Im at, and I dont have a home computer. Most of the time though...my "ideas" kinda suck. I did a thread today, and the first thing someone said was, "Im suprised there isnt 30 people jumping on this thread to tell you how bad your grammar is "

So yah, kind of regreating making one...LOL. Oh well.

I owe part of the reason I've taken up writing to Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estes. She is dyslexic and has several 'good' reasons not to be a writer, but she is anyway. I have five of her audio books. She is very, very award winning.

I forget to mention, I forgot the few lessons I turned up to in school and caught up on Youtube, this weeks lessons are Sonnets.

Don't worry too much over ideas that you think suck. Just improve it and back yourself up with some evidence and give it a shot. And as for grammar, if you're dyslexic just mention it people wont be so hard on you. If you're grammar just suck's let's practice on it by posting and creating thread's, you may not pick it up right away but anything worth learning will always take time and effort.

That would be considered an off-topic post, which derails a thread, and which is not allowed as per this forums T&C. You have the option of complaining to staff, or giving the poster a warning so as to maintain control of your own thread.
