What is the difference between cat parents and dog parents?

You have to watch to find out!

I think my parents were like cat parents.

When my parents died and I was out in the corn field with nothing by clear light and beauty like nothin' I ever saw before. Our famiily dog wouldn't leave my side and even lay down and rolled around in the dirt when I got my guitar out and sang to her. She missed my mom and pop as much as I did I think. She also came around when I was sad and made an effort to get me out of bed.

I think dogs are human's best friend.

I think you are absolutely correct in that thought. Being a long time dog owner/parent myself, I have seen them "know and try" to be there for you when you need them most. Whether it is just resting their head on your leg to calm you, or scrambling to get closer to you than they usually do when you are upset... I do believe they know.

There's nothing like it.

Currently a cat parent. He has the loyalty and friendliness of a dog and the independence and curiosity of a cat. I love dog's, and most animals as well. However, dogs and cats are just very special when it comes to domestication, diversity, and most importantly, the bond between human and dog/cat.

My cat likes to walk up on my stomach or chest all the time and bump his head into my face asking for "pets".

I loved your video; best laugh I've had in awhile!

I have never owned a cat or dog in my life. I have, however, been 'owned' by many!

I'm pretty sure my children would all agree that I'm a 'cat mother'......

Cats do not have owners....

They have staff.

I am the personal assistant to several.

I am a cat(s) parent.
I was woken this morning with the usual pat on the face.
I face pat back and went back to sleep. (That'll show her.)
2 minutes later ...pat
me...pat
cat....pat
me...... gets up to check food dish.

It's full.

OMG, love the video and sooo true! I am both, dog parent for the first 10 years (so they get the general idea) and then BAM, cat parent the heck out of them to adulthood! I want them to know I am their best friend and also their "push" in life.

You know, animals are funny.

My folks have a colony of around 6 to 8 barn cats. One female had a little of kittens and passed away before they could all be raised, so most of the kittens didn't make it even though they were weaned. The one who did? She was adopted by the oldest, scruffiest, meanest tomcat of the lot. Cat had both its ears chewed off, was missing about 1/3 of its a tail and permanent limp. For some reason, this last kitten and this moth-eaten old tom took to each other and were pretty much inseparable for the next year and a half until the kitten was an adult and the old tom disappeared.

As far as what kind of parent I am ... I have no idea.

Ah! The best of both worlds! I was always a cat person when I was growing up. I never owned a dog and never wanted to.... then I married a man who is deathly (throat closes up) allergic to cats. After a few failed attempts at cohabitation, I had to decide to become a dog person, or a widow.

I never knew I could love a dog as much as I do. But maybe it's because my chihuahua acts like a cat.

"Owned by many" is a great way to put it. That certainly tends to be the case more often than not.

And my daughter would probably say that I am a "cat parent" as well. What is one to do?

Retribution for some perceived slight no doubt.
I remember those days well!

I love it! I try my best to walk that line as well. My daughter will be 17 this year... so I KNOW what you mean. Aspects of both styles are definitely a plus!

Good video

Cat parent

I have two cats.
When I got the female kitten she was trying too nurse off my male cat. That was so cute. She follows him everywhere he goes. If he's out too long after dark she panics, Meow, meow, time to start calling him in. Back door, front door, back and forth for hours. She won't relax until he's in. Most of the time he was hiding inside all along. He uses the toilet sometimes.
