There is much evidence to suggest that Mars was earth like long ago, we can continue to pass off these images as paradolia all day long but at some point we need to consider that there is a possibility that a civilization existed on mars long ago.

It's not just you. They look a bit man made, unless the tires do that to the soil.

“Pareidolia” – as Urantia1111 noted – It could be… But…because it could be…does not mean…it is.
It seems that the general “scientific” response to most questions is ---- If it could be anything elseit has been debunked.
What utter FOOLISHNESS.
To profess “scientific principle”…then resort to religious idiocy (Pretzel Logic anyone?)… sigh …
Now – to say (as many have – thank you very much!!!!) – “Okay – I see what you’re saying… Does look remarkably (even to me) like other representations of Pharaonic busts…BUT…I choose to accept that it’s just a remarkable resemblance”…and, then (possibly) even give reasons WHY one chooses to elect the same, is honest and acceptable by almost any standard of debate & discussion.
To say – however – “Because a word has been constructed & accepted (BY SCIENCE – praise be to your Ultimate wisdom…no less!!) to explain a possible exception (”pareidolia”)…that is the ONLY ACCEPTABLE CONCLUSION…” – is as anti-Scientific-Principle as answering questions on the logic of religious precepts with quotes from the particular religion’s holy book…
Catch-22 … all around.

OP – Great Eye…(even though you’re not the first).
Whether it is pareidolia or the real thing…is of no consequence, to me. The fact remains that – virtually everyone that sees it…sees…what you saw – and THAT is remarkable, in itself.
By the way… You are also correct about the numerous (!!!) ‘symbols’ in many of the rocks and terrain of the remaining landscape in this picture.
Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

meanwhile back on Earth

Rock of ages! Ancient carvings unearthed on Nevada boulders could be the oldest in America and date back nearly 15,000 YEARS

Ancient geometric shapes were found in a dried-up lake in Nevada
The desert carvings could even be as much as 14,800 years old
Discovery means etchings at Long Lake, Oregon are no longer the oldest

Thank your for your kind words! I appreciate that you added value to the thread!

I really dislike those who just dismiss something just because they can't wrap their heads around it, there seems to be a lot of that on ATS lately. Although I can understand there skepticism I deplore their dismissive and patronizing attitudes. To say "it's just a rock" or "it looks like a picture of Jesus in toast" is a lazy answer. I do understand that we can't really prove anything at this point in time considering that we are here on earth and all this really neat stuff is on Mars....But eventually you have to wonder, when people keep finding stuff over and over again in these images, especially with these anomalies share remarkable similarities that maybe we're on to something here.

Is it really that hard to conceive that there may have been life on mars? Or even 1-more lost civilizations on earth?

I think the hardest thing for humans to grasp is the shear amount of time that has passed since the dawn of the universe. To even comprehend 1 billion years is hard enough so understanding 13 billion is next to impossible. If you think about how far we've advanced in the last 50-100 years it is nothing compared to the scale of universal expansion. There could have been hundreds of civilizations here on earth before us millions of years ago...think about it! We can barely make out what happened a few thousands years ago how are we supposed to even comprehend what happened before then. We can't! That's why I always try to keep an open mind when it comes to things like this.

...

... If one could prove that (1) sentient, sapient life was on Mars, and (2) it was the same as a/other civilization/s on Earth...would You remain open to the proof?
The real issue is - our belief systems.
If they are rooted in something other than what evidence is presented - we generally try to "debunk" the explanation...
We generally try to find another explanation...with total disregard for Occam's Razor (that is otherwise held in the highest regard)...
This is what I'm finding with the "scholars" putting forth explanations for oddities on the surface of Mars. In one instance - they had to come up with 4 stages of events (millions to possibly billions of years) to explain something that fit their "belief system". How does Occam's Razor work with that?
Anyway - I can see that your eye is open to possibilities-other-than the generally-accepted paradigm...
...and - am pleased to make your acquaintance!

I generally tend to think a lot of these rock shapes on Mars are just rock shapes, but this one is quite detailed and it really does look like part of a statue. I even showed the photo to my highly skeptical daughter since she studied archaeology for a while before switching majors. Without knowing where the photo was from, she said without hesitation, "Looks like an artifact." I then said, "What if I told you the photo was taken on Mars by one of the rovers? Without hesitation, she again said, "Looks like an artifact."

Besides some of the other shapes nearby that people have pointed out, I see three more things that are pretty interesting to me. I've marked their location and shown them blown up a bit in the graphic below. The "face" or "statue" is on the far right.

The leftmost one looked to me a bit like a hand and wrist from a statue. The middle and especially the rightmost one looks like there is some sort of structure that is partially exposed from under the sand.

No idea what these are, but I thought they were interesting. What do you think?

Don't you ever want to step out side that rigid box your in. Come on live a little make positive statement, wow I see it kewl lol.

Much rather live in a world of possibilities are endless than one with boring rigid answers all the time.

Nice pic. And Arken - and everyone -

The Rover made it across the dune!!!

mars.jpl.nasa.gov...

NASA's Curiosity Mars Rover has crossed a dune that stands across a gateway to a southwestward route favored by the rover team for driving to future science destinations.

After reaching the west side of the 3-foot-tall (1-meter-tall) dune today, the rover looked back at its tracks down the western slope.
