Judge who vetoed Messiah name change fired

A Tennessee judge who ordered a baby's name changed from Messiah to Martin, saying the former was reserved for Jesus Christ, has been fired, court officials said on Tuesday.Child Support Magistrate Lu Ann Ballew of Cocke County in eastern Tennessee last August ordered a boy's first name changed over the objections of his parents when they appeared before her seeking to settle other issues. O. Duane Slone, presiding judge of the state's fourth judicial district, terminated Ballew's appointment, effective last Friday, according to court documents.

When will these people learn your religion belongs in your home and your church not in the courtroom. Good job by Slone by firing her she should have lost her job before now seeing how she had let her religious bias rule in other cases. Hopefully the people will get a Judge that will rule by law not religion.

It is all about the mentality of those that reside in the bible belt. They continuously defy Supreme Court precedent. It has been stated in many SC decisions that the separation of Church and State is enshrined in the Constitution. Just ignorant bat crazy wingers.

Judges have way too much power in this country and it often goes to their heads, Magistrates are much worse generally. Anytime I've had to stand in front of a magistrate it's like the twilight zone. The will write whatever they want in a "finding of facts". I mean to the point where things are just made up,things are left out, and things distorted beyond recognizable truth. Every thing they do should be filmed, monitored,and public. With great power comes... well at least some sort of responsibility, you'd think.

I'm gonna laugh if that kid grows up to be an atheist.
