And how many of those "bases" are refueling stops, or similar? Most of the time if an American plane flies near it then it's suddenly a base.

The US wants an excuse to suspend the economy.

There are large sections of the country that could use gentrification for modern tech roads and rail.

Population reduction is not something the US is threatened by we have 316 Million people and we allow immigration.

Don't kid yourself... what a person as an individual is "scared" of isn't even an actual threat to the Govt at large and could help strengthen the nation from the POV of Govt, just because 30 million peoples water is bad, or a city or two is lost, that is horrible if your in... I never mentioned the Soviet/Russian involvement true but maybe I should have. Yes they are involved as well.

Because it doesn't belong to the US and its problems should be resolved by the people who it primarily concerns and with THEIR wishes given priority - namely the people who live there.
And the simple fact is they don't want the US there - that should be enough.
