The phenomena of the UFO, has been with is in various disguises and interpretations according to our understanding at the time for centuries and even millenniums. Their influence on us be it culturally, physically, scientifically has been long standing.

We theorize, using our concepts, our understanding at the time, and our social development, on the phenomena in its various degrees of complexes.

Yet mainstream science and people in general believe we are an isolated world and as a result we generate a “gold fish” type of mentality as to what is and what is not. As a result we have certain view’s of what alien life out their may be like.

The phenomenon is a mixture of all things, from paranormal aspects, to psychological connotations, and the physical, or seemly so. Yet as Homo sapiens (assuming that most of us are), can we, within the biological frame work of our mind, understand an alien mind set, the way they think? Can we understand the way a Dolphin thinks, if we are not biologically the same. The environmental factors for survival must play a part in the way a creature thinks does it not?

Is our way of thinking here actually right, with all the greed, wars and other atrocities? Is this the way a so call, self proclaimed advanced (?) society behaves, a never ending cycle of receptiveness? Is this the reason why an alien species out there in the vastness of space, doesn’t make open contact with us?

Good post.
It is the same reason that humans have trouble connecting with each other. The "alien" is the mindset because we have two brains, and people are just as unknown to one another as "aliens" are to the general populace.

Are we even on the same wavelength as any alien creatures out there? They could communicate in a manner unbeknown to us? As such we could of been contacted in ways we cannot even detect! Is it like trying to communicate and explaining yourself to a cockroach?

Actions speak louder than words.

It does not matter to a cat how a human thinks, they will quickly figure a human out by how he or she treats them and I believe that any intelligent alien species observing us will have the same ability.

To keep it short and simple, humanity has trouble accepting three races of itself, what if there were older races of humanity that look considerably different to us? If this intelligence were indeed observing us they would not be too thrilled at exposing themselves knowing with almost certainty they would not be accepted. Well what is the saying you never know until you try

I think part of that mindset, like for any life form, would be self preservation. Any alien taking interest in this planet, whether for our water, minerals, metals, or human or animal genetic material would most likely be doing it out of some need or perceived need for self preservation or self proliferation. At that most basic primal level I think we are all speaking the same language. Good question and post.

I do not believe that we can make any useful assumptions.

The simple fact is, that there is not enough data. The largest problem is that the amount of disinformation surrounding this topic is so massive. Because there can be no trust between the people and the governments who have the freedom to research and study these things, no one thing can be considered fact, regarding UFO and aliens.

Physical findings are scarce, and inconclusive when they do arise, and these are the sort of data which are required in order to even confirm any report as being accurate. So, for all that there is a vast amount of circumstantial and eye witness evidence, these are not good enough to base a reasonable theory on. A supposition? Perhaps, but nothing concrete enough to be called a theory.

Now, I know that your thread seems to focus upon the mindset, the psychology of the hypothetical alien, and that my response focuses upon the physical aspects of proving their existence. The reason for that is, that no reasonable assumption can be made about what motivates them, unless one has access to accurate and detailed information about their activities. When someone on this planet, proves that they are in need of psychological assessment and perhaps psychiatric care, they do so by behaving in a certain way, expressing broken logic chains in their words and/or deeds. However, the only reason these things can be identified, is by having understanding of how those of us possessed of a sound mind behave for comparison.

However, alien behavior studies have not been run, unless you count those which may have happened in secrecy for all we know. The trouble with that possibility is, that information we cannot validate, is not information, not signal, but noise. Without studying alien behavior, with a sample group of considerable size (say about a hundred, for even the most rudimentary theories to be arrived at), any possible explanations of their behavior would be about as useful as a chocolate teapot at a dinner party on the surface of the Sun.

My attitude to the issue is this. First, prove to the entire planet, en masse, that alien intelligences are out there, and have visited our planet, and do so in a manner which covers every base. By that I mean, have a narrative from their first arrival, to our last encounter with them, provide forensic proof of their existence, and presence on this planet. Do not tell the world, show the world the truth. Once everyone has seen that proof, then we can begin the task of trying to understand them better.

For now however, trying to build a psychological profile for a hypothetical alien species, from the skewed viewpoints of various eye witnesses (who offer no compelling physical evidence to back up their claims in the vast majority of cases) is putting the cart before the road, let alone the horse.

This has been my point all along. We do we think we need to be contacted? Maybe they are here, don't need to "let us know" because its not important to them. Perhaps they have no shape, don't fly in "UFO-Spacecraft-Flying ORBS/SAUCERS", don't have arms, legs, 2 eyes, need our GOLD, or want to eat us, enslave us or save us from ourselves.

If we were them and so far advanced...what happens here wouldn't even be an issue to us and our agendas and concerns, whatever that is.Ill always believe they are here, have always been here, and don't want anything we have.

Its us who has to come up to the realize that they probably are something we have no comprehension of... and use materials we know nothing of... being of made on planets we aren't aware of...and by processes and methods we cant conceive.

This I believe is our "great mistake". Believing all the above in them coming...because they are already here in the form of air, dust, tiny insects, fish...we just have no clue as to what they are...or where.
