So much for tax dollars hard at work
Obviously, there's no need to keep paying, since killing mobs of people in the mideast since the 1990s with our money is hardly helping us =/

US gov't does nothing to monitor air, food and water – California residents

The US government and the Environmental Protection Agency, responsible for protecting human health and the environment, are not doing enough to systematically monitor air, food and ocean waters for radiation levels after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant disaster in March 2011, California coast community say. Additionally no US government agency monitors radiation levels in ocean water.

As if trouble swallowing and almost panicking every day when I think I'm choking aren't enough, My hair is thinning and falling out!

Both of these are symptoms of radiation exposure/therapy, often seen in chemo patients. Paranoid? Hypochondriac? Well, I'm not alone. Other residents are noticing their hair thinning and/or suddenly falling out, with no hereditary or other disease conditions present.

It's already in the news, as is radiation so far as high as 800% above normal radiation levels recently found at Half Moon Bay beach in California, a popular surfing hotspot now its hot, and red plastic spoons aren't to blame.

Of course, mainstream media continues to insist there is no danger in eating the food and that any incidences of radiation are dismissably by some other random objects in the vicinity.

What do we do when we are being lied to? We find out for ourselves.. the truth is out there!

There has been alot of controversy and speculation on weither our beaches are actually being polluted, so i had to find out myself. I picked up a surplus, recalibrated CDV-700 Geiger counter, and scanned my local beach (Area code 94019). Normal radiation levels are between 20-40 CPM (0.05-0.10 Mr/hr) My highest reading was about 160-180 CPM (0.265-0.300 Mr/hr).

They don't make them like they used to?

Is that guy's meter properly calibrated? Is he using it properly? I need a lot more hard evidence before I consider this anything more than overreacting.

Honestly I'd sweat the pollution from China. If nothing else, the push for profit is turning China Proper into the worlds anus.

After that, I'd sweat the truth about the radiation from Japan.

He even says its a 50 year old detector. I would think its not correct.

a surplus, recalibrated CDV-700 Geiger counter

Two words cause me to think this is hogwash. "surplus" and "recalibrated". I'll do a quick check but when was the model CDV-700 Geiger counter designed?

No offense op but the source looks like a blog post that could have been created by anyone.

Edit -

Okay the source is 'wikipedia' so you can take it or leave it.

en.wikipedia.org...

The CD V-700 is a Geiger counter employing a probe equipped with a Geiger–Müller tube, manufactured by several companies under contract to US federal civil defense agencies in the 1950s and 1960s. There were substantial differences between various models and manufacturers during the CD V-700's production. Many of the earlier units required the use of now-obsolete high-voltage batteries, and were themselves declared obsolete by the end of the 1970s. Later models use between two and five of the standard size D battery.

Tens of thousands of these units were distributed to US state civil defense agencies. Even though large numbers have been sold off as surplus to civilian users, many remain in use with first responders and state emergency management agencies today.[1]

So it may be a good tool but I remain sceptical. Who knows if the person is operating it properly or if it has been properly calibrated.

yup. also whats the baseline records for that beach, is it naturally higher due to local geology, any nearby industrial sites or dumping grounds during the last hundred years or so?

Well, every one person's radiation reading is likely to be disputed some way or another..

To the deniers,

This guy must be telling lies too

Radiation sickness and cancer are terrible ways to die...so I can understand the want to bury your head in the sand...but it is what it is.......REALITY.

While the levels of radiation in California are higher than usual due to Fukishima, they are still so below accepted levels for radiation that there really isn't anything to worry about at this point.

I live in British Columbia, where levels are about the same as they are in California. I still eat a LOT of fish, and fresh sushi all the time.

I assume you read the article, it can be found here: Voice of Russia

First, of course, it's The Voice of Russia were you expecting honest reporting? Second, the article doesn't say what the headline says. One reasonable person says the US doesn't have official systems for the routine measurement of radiation in food, air, and water. I'm not surprised, why should we?

The other person quoted is an activist film maker who carries a Geiger counter everywhere he goes. His complaint isn't that the US is doing nothing, it's that it's not doing enough. As the article mentions, California had eleven Radnet radiation monitoring stations running at the time of the incident, and there's no mention of what's been added in the last three years.

The most frightening thing from the article is this:

According to scientists from the University of California Santa Cruz and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)), who monitor marine animals in the Pacific Ocean, there are signs of low-level radioactivity in California fish. Starfish, Pacific bluefin tunas, sea lions, whales, dolphins, anchovies, and other marine animals either haves mall (sic) amounts of radioactive elements from the Fukushima nuclear power plant, or diseases caused by radiation.

I don't know what to make of this thread. Is it another "Bash America" thread? Perhaps a "Doom porn" thread? Was it just getting carried away by an excited headline?

It does indicate that we should keep an eye on this invasion from the ocean, but we're not ignoring it as the headline suggests.

People should read this article.

28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima

We *ALL* know that governments and corporations *Always* suppress / or / amplify information about public health.

Anybody that thinks the Fukushima continuous radiation is not a major factor is crazy IMO.

I doubt the accuracy of these claims.

When we find multiple people in the same location with Geiger counters, all displaying a similar reading then we will have no choice but to accept it.

But for now, all we have are a few separate accounts some with sketchy gear.

When the governments and corporations start crying you should be worried, remember if it hits you it hits them.

Untill then it's nothing but fearmonger, simple as that.

Only taking ACTION is doing something about it. Do we pay our government to simply observe? That's not exactly what they're doing in mideast for over 2 decades now. (They're IRRADIATING it and that's a whole other topic.)

Concerned citizens are acknowledging, documenting, voicing concerns, and some are taking ACTION including but not limited to avoiding Pacific fish/seafood, and in some cases, relocating to where they perceive radiactively safer.

That is what this is about, holding the Government accountable for our tax dollars and I've already said that in the OP.

www.realistnews.net...

When will Obama come out and tell the people of the US he made a mistake?

When will US tax dollars be spent to clean up the numerous disaster sites around the US and stop spending on wars for profit?

When will the citizens of the US call for accountability for all the lies they have been told?

How long will the Obama lie about Fukushima radiation hitting the west coast not probable continue?

Has anyone informed the president...it has already hit the shores of the US?

UPDATE -- Our man went back to the same 'Surfers Beach' on January 14th to re-check his earlier readings which, as you know, went worldwide on the net.

Those readings also caused a definite uptick in the growing State and Federal coverup of the simple fact that Fukushima radiation is already hitting parts of the West Coast even though the massive part of the radioactive Pacific - the 'plume' - has not officially arrived yet.

TPTB already know what the radiation levels are, we shouldn't kid ourselves otherwise. They know far more about all this Fukushima lark than they let on.

They keep silent about it because they don't want to attract our attention to the fact that they can't do anything about it.

That's what it looks like to me anyway.

Yeah,

why waste billion of taxpayers' dollars on THEM,

when it's better spent expanding global military bases and irradiating the mideast with DU dust?!

Look and see who has their ocean front home for sale . The realestate listings would be the thing to watch. If you can afford ahome on the ocean you would have good intel on whats going on
