I never intended on purchasing a saw for backpacking but then I was introduced to the sven saw. This saw is just plain badass! It practically weighs nothing and cuts wood very efficiently.

The saw comes in two sizes a 15" and 21". I recommend spending the extra couple of bucks for the 21".

Here's a video review

Amazon has them for $35. I purchased my 21" from REI for $34 in the store.

My dad had one of these for years, he probably still does.
I don't remember a single camping trip without it. It really did work great and cut everything. It fits in anywhere easily because it collapses so nicely, and to the best of my knowledge he only had to replace the blade two or three times over the course of 15 years or so. It is a great piece of equipment, I have been looking for one for a long time myself, thanks for he link!

I looked at the picture - and identified everything that's wrong with this item :

field assembly required

vital parts that can be lost

then the review confirmed that the item was worse than I thought

stick with a sandvik / bahco bow saw

wight difference = irrelevant

nothing to loose

no assembly required

volume / bulk = an irrelevancy
