sports.yahoo.com...

A California Little League Baseball coach who suffered a torn Achilles tendon is suing one of his former players for throwing his helmet during a game-ending celebration, according to Sacramento's KCRA-TV (h/t Barstool Sports). The kid is 14 years old.

But that isn't stopping Alan Beck from suing the child and Little League Baseball for $500,000 in pain and suffering in addition to another $100,000 in lost wages and medical bills, per the Placer County (Calif.) Superior Court summons obtained by KCRA-TV.

Paris' son allegedly tossed his helmet while scoring the winning run in a game this past spring, and the equipment struck and tore Beck's Achilles tendon.

What a ridiculous, litigious ass of a "man" this Alan Beck is. I could see him expecting the Little League team's insurance policy to pick up his medical bills and, I suppose, some form of reasonable lost wages, but dude... your freaking achilles isn't worth $500,000. You tore a tendon, whoopty-damn-doo, it happens to hundreds of people a day and they all recover from it. If he suffered a half a million dollars worth over it, then I'm guessing your wife (or mom?) must have to console him daily when he nicks himself shaving and Lord help us all over the amount of hysterical wailing he must do if he ever stubs his little toe.

This story reflects everything wrong with America today. Everybody acts so damned entitled to a piece of someone else's money, citing idiotic hardships, pains, and sufferings when, in reality, very very few Americans have any clue what those words actually mean anymore.

Yes, & California is the mother of all of this entitlement attitude.

So goes in Cali, so goes elsewhere in the US...

We had to leave her...the beautiful, golden state due to regulations & expenses, what-not...
. Those things I don't miss. The climate, diversity, beauty of Cali, I deeply long for!

This coach is a mouse, not a man, by any stretch, IMO...

You posted a thread that I read and it hurt my ego.

burdman, I have to sue you for 73 gazillion dollars now because my fragile self-esteem was damaged because I thought the thread title was, "beezzer stinks like a potty".

If this kid was able to throw that helmet hard enough to do that much damage then he needs a baseball contract. I smell a scam he had already had a injury in the same area and he thought he could cash in on these folks. The man is a douchebag.

Evening,

Why don't the parents of the kid just tell the coach exactly what he tells their kids when they get hurt:

"Man up and walk it off Tinkerbell."

-Peace-

I tell my lady softball players to not throw equipment. Maybe if he was a better coach he would not have got hurt.
This is why insurance costs so much, ridiculous lawsuits that unfortunately pay off. Don't blame the guy thats suing, blame the jury that rewards the settlement.

I think a judge should be allowed to kick a moron like this right square in his good and plenties (just on principal)... following the suit being tossed on grounds of blatant idiocy.

I do have to think of that kid as a future "Odd Job"... hats off kid!

If a thrown helmet can cause a torn Achilles.. holy smokes.. the fragile coach needs to never leave his house. IMO it was already damaged and he saw a way to get some dollas.
The mentality of all of this really grates on me.

Oh and I had already formed my opinion when I read this, but seeing as Burdman wrote the thread.. I had to read it. He has this amazing way of summarizing an article and relating his feelings on subjects.

It's like this coach woke up one morning wondering how he could become the most hated man in the U.S. - and then set out to do it.

Can we settle out of court? All I have on me is $2.34, a half a can of Copenhagen, a coupon for a free small cone at Tastee Freeze (with combo meal purchase), and a Bikini Babe barista coffee punch card that will be good for one free 20 oz. coffee after just two more coffee orders... I offer it all in settlement of your grievence, Bunnyman.

From the first post I wrote here (which is sooo outdated as applies to today and what I know now lol)

*Make people who file frivolous lawsuits AND thier lawyers have to pay the person/people they sued 50% of whatever they sued for. Regardless of if it gets thrown out before going to a jury or not.

*Make it mandatory to be smarter than a box of rocks to BE a juror. No I don't mean educated, I mean actual brain function and logic skills. I swear most juries today need to be in a nursing home because they are brain dead. Make em take an EEG or something!

Faker babies who think suing is an easier way to "win the lottery" grrrr.

I think that her point was that it is not that California causes people to be dip#s but that California is full of so many dip#s.

The sad thing is, is that people like this coach have out-bred the common/decent folk. This piece of garbage shouldn't be allowed around any kids sporting events anymore, and this should be a fair warning for all those who have this guy in their life. Let this rat go back into the sewers

Fair enough....

I should have been more specific, and said the State government of California...including its judicial, legislative, & executive branches...is the mother (root cause) of the US' entitlement attitude.

Or even to be more exact, the father of frivolous lawsuits...
