Sure. But again, it's similar to how you can still hear Voyager at a distance. Your example is a single source against a dark background. It's a lot simpler to pick up a source with limited noise background that's not moving rapidly.

Plus does anybody know the operational range of OBD3? I guess it would be a pain in the rear to be picking up every darn car that passes near the garage when your trying to connect to only one of them. Its likely limited to a couple meters for good purpose.

I think they had plans for the car to call for its mommy to a roadside GSM polling system. If you tamper with the car or its emissions are too high, it waits for you to pass a monitoring station and it reports you.

Yeah I just read about that, they setup stations that can pickup 8 lanes full of cars passing as 100mph...

Thats just sick but then again will end up tampered with somehow, you could just have a spare flashed "tuned" PCM thats what some of my buddies have. When they call in your car you just swap them and put the stocker back in...

I'd venture to say that any corporation that deals with technology and has the ability to monitor us, has already been approached by the government and told that they will comply.

This is kind of a non-issue. Newer GPS systems need to know where you're at and how fast you're travelling in order to do their job correctly.
I hardly think Ford is collecting and monitoring such data save for purposes of troubleshooting their systems.

And really...do you think the FBI is going to show up at your door for speeding? Come on

I just have to add on to my previous post, at the essence it may not be GPS, now this video is a few years old and it is not the newest system, but i have the exact functionality and trust me, it works, if you can send data from what it collects , (more than likely that it gets from the black box) upload it and then have it formatted for you to read from a web browser on a compiled report...like I said I have done numerous times, this tells there is a communication method that allows things such as data to be sent, from your vehicle back to a central collection point, just the mere theory of simple operation here, should shunt to ground any of the naysayers theories about GPS, or this is not possible, it is possible and the only thing here, is you, have to initiate the upload, but how simple is it to build a mechanism that can do this periodically and upload data, I think there is zero doubt your data can be retrieved and uploaded, nothing to do with GPS here, so lets even take that out of the equation, what Ford is saying is not a concept, it is reality.

Just a simple demonstration again as I said this is a few years old, these systems are built by Microsoft and the newer ones have many new features.


Also tracking GPS movement is already a feature on a phone so I do not understand what you are saying about this exorbitant cost or implausibility of this technology, might I ask have you seen the Microsoft Sync system? it has the ability to pair via bluetooth with a phone, a feature that almost anyone that has it uses, so the percentage that this will not be possible, is probably low, but again I am not sure of any other built in capability to send the data.

SYNC uploads the titles of the music it finds on your phone. I'm not sure that matters, but it bothers me that it does so. I'd put that in a nunya category. But it doesn't do it through some magic communication method. It uses your phone.

If you don't link your phone, SYNC can't call home to mommy.

Indeed as Bedlam said its sent through the mobile towers in the form of SMS which are limited to average about 150 characters per SMS and there's a transmission delay so its not like real time communication is possible. Although it could be possible to send plenty of damning data with 150 characters its still less worrying than what can be achieved through direct bluetooth sniffing/injection...

To give you an idea with software freely available on the net I and some friends pulled a prank to a buddy of mine while he was walking around in his livingroom talking to his girlfriend whom was a work at the hospital at the time, we sneaked up on the patio and I used nothing more than a netbook + bluetooth dongle paired to a directional antenna to listen to his conversation because he was walking around his his cell in his pocket and a bluetooth earpiece cuz he ALWAYS does that... lol so we first eavedropped than proceded to inject porn audio recordings into the conversation. Is girlfriend was laughing her butt off thinking he got caught watching porn while he was freaking out trying to explain to her he had nothing to do about it...

You wouldn't believe what you can do through the Bluetooth stack. Not only can SYNC get a net connection (how do you think the Gracenote service on the SYNC display pulls up the album covers? They're not on your phone...), you can read most of the phone's settings, change some of them, and access all your contact data. In addition to looking at the songs and movies you've stored on there.

Yeah him well awared of how to fiddle with the already built-in stuff on them but the real fun starts when you upload them code and execute it... Then your only limited really by your knowledge and coding abilities...

watch Ford sales plummet... that would be the only viable answer to such blatant statements... who the # does this guy think he is? in my world/neighborhood/view of things he is vermin that gets smashed under my boot once he crosses my path... those types would go down in an instant if they ever set foot into "the real world"

So who do you buy a car off when it seems that all the car manufacturers are building these technologies into their cars. Also those that are spying can also be spyed upon and everything known about them as well. An underground industry is developing already and will continue to develop to work its way around many of these technologies
