How do you understand consciousness from a mathematical or scientific perspective?

She doesn't understand, nor have an opinion of her own on the matter.
Why?
Simply because it's not been written in her 'scientific' books.

Right, so if we observe something in quantum physics, we get a different outcome then when we do not observe the same thing. That is what i tried to say with conciousness.. It is a used 'term' within quantum physics also..
I think our mind is able to do greater things than we imagine.
If we go to (ie) mars, on a quantum level, we could change things, just by observing closely... Will it create a wave into a bigger change? What could happen? Would it be potentially dangerous?
In my starting post, i was not very clear about conciousness, but i don't know how to explain it better then i just did in this post.. I was raised with Dutch as a language, I'm trying to make myself clear in english..

Our ability to observe is our connection. It means it is apart of us.

I think, just from my own understanding of how I interpret the universe, that our 'energy' or 'essence' would be absorbed by the nearest living celestial body. If you believe that planets are living if they produce an EM field, then they would have consciousness. Weather it is self aware or not I do not know for sure nor can I ever prove it either way to someone outside of my own mind.
Right now if I die I suspect my 'essence' would just merge with the earths collective consciousness. I think if I died on Mars which is not quite a dead planet as it is still producing EM fields, then I would join with that. This is making a huge assumption that I could survive even leaving the earths magnetic field and the hostile environment of the vacuum of space.

Quantum seems like a very small word for something that is supposed have a billion things going in a second, a microsecond, or a nano second.

I still wonder what makes the tug on the ether side of that string particle theory, where there is so many other particle interfering. The wormhole one.

Death by definition means you probably end up jumping a crap load of dimensions in some sci-fi way I guess you could say. Especially if you believe in the universal simulation created by powerful aliens. That ether could do it, or they like to make us think they can. Or maybe they get superstitious about it too.

Can it be related too symbolically?

How do you understand consciousness from a mathematical or scientific perspective?

By understanding it's source. The brain.

To clarify my perspective JadeStar. From point of being the transmitter of energy thought-touch etc. to say MARS you are connected with the material between you and MARS that may not be picked up in your visual senses but some of it you breath when zoomed in further with a microscope air.

More attributes and interactions may be related to this material in which part you don't see but breath and exist within associated with your bodies emitting electromagnetic field and other electromagnetic fields related to planets like MARS.

Add in the thought process and the physical properties of it considering neuro discharges also affecting your e fields perception or awareness ability when say astral traveling to MARS, and still yet this may be another section with attributes of the material 1 is sharing connecting you to MARS. When I say strings im kind of reflecting on some of the string theory data presented from EA*RTH and so ALL* connected.

Sounds sciency. But it also sounds like you've just thrown together a lot of words and ideas into a sort of mishmash tower of babel.

Can we unpack that, one idea at a time?

More like I don't believe in spirits, faeries, ghosts, leprechauns, gods, goddesses when there are perfectly rational, NATURAL explanations for things like fire, morning dew, bumps in the night, legends, lightning and the formation of the Earth.

So, no, I don't go 'there' either when it comes to consciousness. The moment we create a self aware AI these ideas of consciousness being anything but the result of a sufficiently advanced neural network will be as quaint as believing lightning was the result of a god called Thor throwing down bolts.

Earth is also in space. Living on Mars wouldn't be any different, as far as the universe or the quantum world are involved. Sub-atomic particles are same everywhere.

But i thought it was non local, or non locality, how can we be sure its the brain?

Thinking particles, molecular, minerals things are what make our planet different from Mars. Plus Mars doesn't have an atmosphere, also something happened to it core if I'm not mistaken.

There are two ideas of what consciousness is.

One has some evidence for it: the scientific view that it is a -result- of brain activity.

The other is more or less wishful thinking: the New Age view that it is supernatural and therefore has nonlocality.

So my answer to the OP was that what would happen would depend on which view the OP subscribed to.

If it is the former then the same thing would happen as when we went to the moon. People'd go there and write and share their experiences with those of us back on Earth.

If it is the latter then one could ask the question "why go there at all?" simply thinking about Mars by the New Age definition means projecting our consciousness there since the new age version of consciousness takes it outside of the natural, physical universe and thus would have no time or space limitations.

The second view is a lovely idea but it has no real evidence to support it.

I -WISH- it did though. It would make exploring the Universe much easier/cheaper.

Read the book "The God Part of the Brain" or.. maybe watch this:

This is an assertion that we are predisposed genetically to spiritual beliefs.

My original question still stands.

If sub atomic particles are the same everywhere then why does it look so different on mars then it does earth?

Because of a different environment. Earth has more oxygen and water, Mars has more iron oxide (rust) on the surface and in the air, and a much thinner atmosphere made mostly of CO2. But the atoms and sub-atomic particles that make up all these elements are the same on Mars and on Earth.

If they were somehow different, we wouldn't be able to study them spectroscopically.

But isnt our environment made of sub atomic particles?

I'm guessing since the atomic is a word where the universe is complete processed simultaneously, no matter what distance. Sub- atomic just seems to follow the same idea.

Your thinking off minerals, and they can be completely different for a lot reasons. Different stars like red giant, or white dwarf stars could make thing different, also times a huge factor.

3d things.
