A big Social Security disability scam has been busted in New York.

Apparently city workers were "taught" how to fake up a mental problem and then collect and pay off the "teachers" in some very clandestine ways like leaving paper bags with cash for pickup in parks LOL

The "Teachers" were 2 lawyers and 2 police officers. One lawyer is a former FBI agent on top of it all !!

The story says hundreds more are involved.

Never a dull moment.

Over 100 New York City Workers Charged In Massive Social Security Scam

106 former New York city workers, including firefighters and police officers, have been charged in a 205 count indictment for faking mental disabilities in order to claim federal social security benefits. All of the accused received help from two lawyers and two police officers who taught the accused how to claim they were mentally scarred on SSID applications in order to collect $30,000 to $50,000 in benefits annually. All in return for cash payments. Many of the accused claimed their disability was due to their rescue efforts on 9/11 at ground zero. An investigation into their claims revealed they were not at ground zero on 9/11.

Well thank God for all the recent prison construction and renovations.

Prison is business, and business is good!

Imagine how much money we could have as a country if we focused on busting fraud scams rather than spying on our own citizens or ....(grab bag of take your pick waste).

Maybe then unemployment benefits for "wanting to be hard working Americans" could be extended or actual jobs could be created.

None of them will see the inside of a prison. Bet on it.

Absolute f'ing disgrace to their shields and their country!
Unfarking believable that these 'guardians', in the dust of the towers and the loss of so many should perpetuate such a crime.
LE in USA should now look inwards as to why the general public know there is such a problem with some cops attitude and behaviour. Above the law? No way, this is where accountability should kick in and prison time happen. Kick some of the lesser 'criminals' out to ensure room for these scum.
It would be interesting to know the full story behind this, was it from need, arrogance, stupidity, greed, did the ringleader have a hold on these people, or is the whole thing symptomatic of a greater malaise in LE or your society as a whole?
Stupidity must rank high in their psyche somewhere if they were daft enough to openly brag on social media networks about their crimes.
S&F to your legal system for getting this far with what is an organised crime involving LE personnel.

At this point I will use an old Arabian curse to finish...
"May the fleas of a thousand camels forever infect your r'soles!"
(directed at the perpetrators...!)

If this story gets enough momentum then prison is the least of their worries. The open wound of 9/11 and the growing distrust of officials will leave a lot of people wanting blood.

I'm hoping this is just the start, if these crooks escape prosecution then that would indicate that those higher up are in on it, and maybe just maybe every guilty party could be nabbed in one fell swoop.

They should have to repay all the money back. If this is true remember innocent until proven guilty, the gov. Will do anything agdinst the citizens. Lets not all support the gov. They lie all the time. I will sit backnand watch this play off before passing judgement. I just cant believe much of what the gov. says.

I'll bet they all get their union-given pensions until forever, too.

Hmmm... I'm torn. I hate to see folks get ripped off but at the same time they're ripping off a system that is designed to be a rip off.

Cheating a cheat.

If I thought things could change maybe I wouldnt be so cynical about it but having been threatened with termination myself on more than one occasion for trying to save taxpayers money I know this system is not ever going to change. It not only rewards thievery and scamming, it encourages it and punishes for lack of participation in it.
