You realize the mistake is a whole lot more than just spelling don't you? We're talking about two totally diametrically opposed and completely opposite groups here.

One of which may have been a successful early attempt by the CIA to get control of thousands of people's computers, and which produced NOTHING in many years in the way of results, and the other a pseudo-religious version of pay-per-view; both of which appear to be cons so I never spent much time studying them. If you're really interested in the Ranch, go over to the Project Avalon forum and read until your eyeballs fall out from boredom. It's not much different than High Mass in Latin and every bit as useful. One wonders how high the 'spiritual consciousness' was of the radar that's been *really* seeing UFOs for decades now.

I'll put my knowledge and research of the UFO field (40 years now intermittent attention because I actually had to work for a living) up against Josh's prior experience interviewing stoners at Venice Beach anytime.

I fail to see the vehement support this is getting for it's not interviewing, it's just kinda silly. Is anyone learning anything from these? The UFO subject already has enough reasons for the ridiculing crowd to laugh it off; why produce more reasons? This undermines the work of serious researchers and serious disclosure advocates, who are working for all of us against the worse odds possible.

Billions of public dollars have been spent on we know not what, and meanwhile the entire planet is going to hell in a handbasket, and it's not a joke. We're left wondering which whistleblower is telling the truth, who is delusional and who is just an attention seeker or in it for the money; do we have benign long term visitors or are there species here actually using us as cattle, both or something in between? If humans don't start dealing with reality and soon, the entire planet is doomed. I sometimes see little value in preserving the human race, but the other living beings on this planet are rapidly becoming mass collateral damage.

It really is well past time to stop lying to ourselves, stop accepting lies (and silliness) from others, and deal with the truth, whatever it may be. Time is getting awfully short.

Exactly, because much of the topic centers on the predictions for 2014. But as I look at it the predictions part of the topic hinges on the weight of credibility given the ranch, which should have been - if reports about their website are true, and they are pushing the orbs as paranormal phenomena, and making money off said orbs in the photographs - none. And that's what attracted a few people to post here, that something as simple as the was missed.

But the main reason I'm posting on Josh's threads is to try to nudge him toward doing deeper topics and longer and better investigative reporting while avoiding promotional things. Also, and more importantly, you guys chose him to be the video face of ATS, so I'll be one of the posters trying to help him improve until you pull the plug on the idea. Seems to be working so far, as the only way to judge is an improvement from vid to vid, it's a learning curve, and this was better than the last one. He could have all the fun he wants, I love fun in writing and in vids, there are many adult playgrounds and in one point of view ATS is a great adult playground and that aspect belongs in his vids for sure, but the other component is a major one: to get the journalism down right. And that seems to be much of what some of the people on the thread are talking to Josh and each other about.

You need to look again, this video has nothing to do with CSETI.

I found that funny, she called you a rank amateur but she confused ECETI with CSETI.

That said, can you do an expose on Steven Greer? I'd pay money to see that

On a side note, I wish these idiots would drop the use of the term SETI or CETI from their names. It's like they're trying to piggyback their hucksterism on a science whose legitimacy is fairly recent and often still is questioned by other disciplines. Having these clowns call themselves "SETI" researchers does nothing for either them or real SETI researchers and Gilliland and Greer's actions are a slap in the face and affront to SETI and science in general.

In science a null result is JUST AS IMPORTANT as a "EUREKA! WE FOUND ALIENS!" as it helps define or constrain the parameters of the next experiment.

It seems you have confused the University of Berkeley's SETI@Home project with CSETI. Big mistake. And no, it is not a "CIA attempt to gain control of people's computers".

# 1 That's the NSA's job and they don't need you downloading a screensaver to do it. Nor have they ever. Just ask Snowden.

# 2 Because the nature of the project (hunting for aliens) and the type of tech savvy people it attracted (overclockers, hackers, etc) both the application and SETI workunits were looked at and subject to reverse engineering by some of the most sophisticated hackers in the world. If there were anything nefarious about either then they would have screamed bloody murder and ceased participation.

# 3 You'd think a CIA run project would have it's funds pretty secure, yet SETI@Home and other SETI programs run on a shoestring budget at the mercy of private donations. The CIA probably spends in 30 seconds what it takes SETI@Home months to fundraise. By the way, their winter fundraising drive is underway.

The subject would get far less ridiculing if it were to exorcise itself of people like Greer, GIlliland, etc. ONLY BY EXPOSING THE CHARLATANS, HOAXES, MISIDENTIFICATION, MISUNDERSTANDINGS, LIARS, CHEATS, etc can the subject even hope to attain some level of legitimacy as an area worthy of serious scientific study.

That is what was done here and what I'd like to think ATS in general does or at least tried to do: Weed through the BS so the real stuff worthy of study -can- be studied.

That's one reason i got involved in it.

If you can't tell data from noise then you have no data and thus have no legitimacy. If you can't understand that then I suggest you spend some time researching less about UFO's and more about how other fringe sciences came to legitimacy.

Circling the wagons or simply 'leaving the status quo alone' is no longer an option. UFOlogy has seen its interest wane for several decades now and that trend isn't stopping as more people become more familiar with technology, the sky, etc.

The ones left behind tend to be the gullible, the dumb and those needing UFOs as a sort of psuedo-religion which drags the subject down further.

I'm slightly torn about James and his merry crew out on the ranch.

I've heard oodles of testimony to high (or hiiiiighh) strangeness there and caught several neat light videos but his organization and what amounts to a new age business spoils any "there" there.

Again, a trickster infested nest of weird and possible phenomena buried in layers of supposition and PR spin.

Dunno... and even IF apparitions and light balls and ETs and dematerializing hippies happen, it has enough grey in it to color several legion aliens.

I've heard some mind blowing things myself but no verification if they were actually true.

Excellent job, Don't Tread on Media. Haven't had a chance to read all the comments, but JadeStar mentioned Hessladen and member 1ofthe9 mentioned Yakima.

Hessladen especially, and even Yakima to a degree (under the guidance of Hynek) have had some impressive scientific study applied. The now partially declassified Condign Report from the British MOD probably has some traction in this discussion as well. Another scientific study--Project Identification--has, imo, some relevance to this aspect of "ufology," too.

Don't get me wrong: UAP or Earthlights or Plasma/Geomagnetic phenomena or whatever one wants to call it---I'm leaning towards some kind of non-human intelligence involved in aspects of these specific hotspots/sightings.

Gilliland is uber-new age and of course, as such, his observations & deductions will be clouded by that. It's also clear that the ECETI bunch is more than willing to believe any object in "their" sky is anomalous. But that doesn't mean the area isn't worth study. Its "hotspot" status--regardless of the ultimate explanation--is historically documented and without much significant debate.

We had over 20 cameras, military grade night vision gear, military grade binoculars, telescopes, a dozen work station computers, and a host of other equipment. We went up there to find out what, if anything was going on up there, not go on "vacation". We spent thousands of dollars in the hope of discovering something the rest of the world could understand was truly unique and worthy of further investigation.

Don't know about all that.. all I know of is my own personal experience when my audio recorder wouldn't work and James held my batteries in his hand for just a few seconds and they have worked like new since (and still have a 90% charge). I watched James very closely and he did nothing special to the batteries other than hold them for a few seconds. No banging, no voodoo, just held them, and then handed them back. It was all done with very little fuss and he was amused that I got excited over the prospects of sending him all my dead batteries (I go through a ton of them).

He also said anyone could learn to do it. But he did say also that his left hand (and body-side) did the opposite, which is to zap the power out of batteries. Even the Executive Producer I interviewed said that if James wore the battery-pack for the wireless microphone on his left-side, the pack wouldn't work. If he wore it on his right-side, the pack stayed charged up.

As Johnny has stated the "battery" thing is based on his personal experience with the batteries he is using. That does NOT constitute evidence or proof of anything beyond some batteries that have lasted a really long time after being apparently dead (Johnny did not put a volt meter on them before they were "re charged" to confirm they were actually dead). Johnny has made no claims at all beyond describing the batteries condition and the circumstances by which they came to be in that condition.

We didn't go up there to get batteries recharged, I never saw it happen and Crakeur's account speaks for itself, Johnny had a different experience, that's it.

With all the really interesting things coming on the video(s) I do hope we can get past the battery business. Anyone who wants to spend the money and time to verify the battery recharging can find James at his ranch and have at it.

and So we did, mere observational research suggests that there is something up there that is draining batteries & some sort of magnetic field that interferes with digital technology.

In my novice opinion, it still needs further research, due to the duplicated result that, whoever goes up there, batteries, no matter how small or large, are drained, within a certain amount of time even though they are brand new & right out of the box.

I'll be posting my official findings below this one on the battery drainage and digital equipment. They're not copyrighted, but I hold the original report I wrote up after we did our short stay.

my official report at Gililand's Ranch .. conducted on May 29th & 30th, 2009.

• Battery drainage. Before traveling to destination, all equipment was thoroughly checked out for normal operation & btry checks were made.

o After being at the ranch for 90 mins, the batteries in 1 set of radios went dead and had to be replaced with 4 alkaline. These radios are brand new out of the box and there might be a chance they’re defective in someway. Eventually, we could not use these radios because we didn’t have enough AA’s to go around.


o Jordan’s camera went completely dead; it would not turn on for any reason within 90 mins of being at the ranch. Art plugged it into the Van and ensured it charging. Jordan went back to the van to see how it was doing appox. 30-45 mins later and it had a full charge and it was fully operational. It never died after that.


o Styx’s DVR went completely dead and was used for appox. 10 mins before it needed a fresh set of AAA Batteries. It never went dead after that. Btrys in one of her radios also went dead as well and had a full charge before she left her house. She had to switch to 3 AAA alkaline.


o A guest/local at the ranch told a story of a person ‘connected to’ or was a CIA personnel had brought a fully charged submarine battery to the ranch and 20 mins later went completely dead. No names were given nor can we confirm this story yet.


o More than 3 guests/locals stated that it’s the first thing that all visitors’ notice when they come to the ranch is the battery drain & slight equipment malfunction.
No injuries were reported and investigations were completed on time.

One last comment for this thread. The vid indicates there is a part two (just as with the Senator last time), yet the vid is only a little over five minutes long. ATS readers have attention spans. So airing the full interview all at once won't tax there viewing skills. Even The Eric Andre Show is 12 minutes long (and for those who watch it, imnho the season ender for season two was one of the finest pieces of satire I've ever seen as long as you realize the premise and flow of the show).

I think the animations that have been used in the video whilst James Gilliland is speaking undermines the interview and also undermines the subject as one for serious discussion. For someone undecided about issues such as those covered on the forum it would reinforce the common perception that this subject area is a joke, nothing to be taken seriously and that the people interested in it are kooks.

We won't get anywhere closer to real disclosure if people continue to treat the subject as a joke.
Where if you think about it, there is nothing funny about the whole world being deceived and manipulated about what might be our true history.

I know nothing about James Gilliland so can not make an assessment of his credibility, but I'm talking in general when you see animations that take the piss out of information within this subject area

actually quite good.

I have been very critical of you as have others but in comparison to the last video you uploaded this is a huge improvement.

I have to give credit where credit is due and I can not honestly say that I have any major issues with the video you and your team have created. Is about a topic i am very skeptical about so I won't start any kind of rant about that side of things.

There is still probably room for improvement but on the whole that was a good quality video that was respectful to the topic while still keeping it a little light.

nice to see that you have taken on board member feedback and acted on it to create this.

All i can really say is keep it up and keep going the way you seem to be going.
