The descriptions of these witnesses do not tend to give the feeling of balloons or lanterns. The witnesses who describe the orange orbs flying off at high speed. The witnesses seem to be pretty level headed.

Is this why Americans are obsessed with UFO'S ?
It is very rare in The UK that TV news reports talk about possible UFO sightings. In The US they seem to get these reports on their news channels weekly if not daily.
As it was New Year Eve, it was more likely that something would be seen in the sky, possibly Chinese Lanterns.

Depending on how long they were hovering before they took off they could have been somebody's new quadcopter christmas present. I know I've been pricing them out and some of the better ones are able to get up to 20 minute flight time and they would fly faster than a baloon and slower than a plane. Not sure how fast the one witness said the one he watched took off but I know if it had been pimped out in lights it could have looked big and far as apposed to small and near which if perceived as farther than what it really is would also seem as if it were traveling faster than it really was. could have been surveillance drones as well especially for that part of California. Anyway orange orbs just seem to explainable.

New Years day at about 12:20 am, three reddish/orange orbs passed over Columbus Ohio.

Went out side to put the dog away as he barks his head off at all the celebratory gunfire going off. Saw two going over, close to each other, but they were already well west. Ran in an grabbed the old Panasonic plamcorder. When I got back out they were to far east and drifted into could cover.

However within moments another single "craft" came on the same heading from the west. I got the whole thing on film. It was fairly low, no sound, no blinking lights. I even backed the zoom off far enough that anyone can see there were no blinking running lights of any sort. This is close enough that if it had been a plane of any sort sound would have been easily picked up.

As well these "craft" were reddish/orange coming and going.

Yes I may but need to get to a friend that can convert VHS.

By the way if anyone goes to the National UFO Reporting Center and research reports, the "orange" orb looks to be the most reported type of UFO over the last 10 years. You can just run down the pages and see "orange, orange, orange.

What are you talking about? I rarely see anything on the news about UFO's on TV. I recall in 2010 there was something on the news about the Airport in China being shut down due to a UFO, but that was the last time I saw anything about ufos, and that was also real news. Also I live in California and have not seen this story on my local news. I am just saying.

Celebratory gunfire in Columbus, Ohio? Is that allowed there? Fireworks I can imagine, but I thought shooting off guns in the air in an urban area was strictly enforced.

And thanks for the post. Were the orbs recognizable as shapes, or could they have been standard aircraft with very little if any sound?

The reporters aere practically telling you they were Chinese lanterns... "Orange lights", "just after midnight", "moving slow" All that is needed now is for someone to draw a picture.

military testing, i remember the same hype from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's then a new line of air craft would roll out.

Funny thing is you can hear the gunfire as a audio backdrop. Its very embarrassing. LOL Gun fire is off the hook here in C town just after midnight on New Years. I would say it sounds like a combat zone.....and no the cops cant enforce... hundreds of weapons going of all over town. A few years ago they did wound one guy that wouldn't put his weapon down but it hasn't stopped the 4th festivities.

Anyway these were not planes and they were orange coming and going, no sound no running lights. I am sorry but there are no planes, jets whatever that use orange lights.

As far as any other considerations, these things were flying in a strait line.

Go to the National UFO Reporting Center page, read the reports of orange light over the last 10 years. You can hardly go through a single page it would seem without seeing "orange Orb".

The reports also sound like UFO orb sightings. Please don't dismiss all reports as lanterns, the orbs are real

You got any proof of this without sounding rude ?

Not to jump on the wagon sounds like a classic description of lanterns. If it was windy they can move pretty quick. After all they are only paper, bit of wire and a large lump of stuff to burn

Yes I do have proof they exist on an old phone but I can't upload the footage at the moment. I've seen em many times and stopped meeting them as it started including big motherships and that was too OTT at the time in 2006. I know where you're coming from regarding the reports but this can go both ways as they do sound like UFO orbs too

Well, I don't actually if you look back at my posts. But you need to use your loaf too. The reporters told you they started just after midnight, does that mean aliens celebrate the new year too? The reporters also told you they were moving slowly from the anecdotes, now all of a sudden they're jets...no they're orange jets, that's getting silly innit.

Fair play I'll take your word for it, would be nice to see some footage. Motherships you say ? And stopped meeting them ? You got any footage of that ?

LOL! Motherships always suggest and are a mark of departure in the discussion. If I ever saw one I would keep the word out of the thing.

No footage of the radiant white mothership unfortunately as was frozen with fear, it was too weird for starting filming, proper frozen. Filmed the orbs about a week later near the same site, got whites, ambers , red but it was 5 in the morning and they were just hovering in the air above the ground. They did cluster into groups. They seem to follow ley/energy lines. I know that you can make contact with them using a dynamo torch, normal if you wish, three flashes a second apart facing north west

Ufo orbs often come out around one or two in the morning, I agree these seen in America my be lanterns but they may well be not, these things are very timid and nervous of humans, they generally keep themselves to themselves and human derived light can scare them off
