A cave entrance

It would be awesome if you found a cave entrance. Have you checked the scale of that area to confirm it's large enough to have a cave with a tiled entrance?

Nope...it's difficult to tell from that link...no measurements. And nothing in the area is "familiar" to compare with...is there somewhere on NASA sight where one can look it up ?

I think there's a scale somewhere. Give me a few minutes and I'll see if I can find it.

I hope someone sees what I see here...

Giant stone head broken up into pieces...

A lower jaw part in the right corner

an incomplete nose with a part of the forehead...there are other pieces lying around...these two are more visible.

compare these stones with the surrounding area...they obviously look as if they were a part of the bigger chunk.

well, if I got this right...the width of the entrance would be around 10-15 cm at best...not sure if I measured correctly.

That seems correct. Probably not a cave big enough for humans.

PS: That's Earth-based Humans. It doesn't mean the cave is not big enough for Martians.

The only such "white" rock in the source.

The only? I see many white rocks.

They say that he who see many white rocks on Mars has the luck o the Irish in 'em.

I'm of the feeling that once you dust the place off, over half of it might be white rocks.

In the following image we can see the area where Curiosity is now, but the photo was taken on July 4 2012.

Come on ArMaP, Is this a JPEG troll on me? ; ) ... so...jpeg artifacts that only surround the arc of the circumference and stay away the circular center area, and the different jpeg artifacts matching up in the shadow cast on the ground? I studied that one a long time before I posted it varying brightness, contrast and gammas... it is a larger stretch to go with jpeg artifact, especially since the shadow conforms to the pattern precisely, than it is to unknown curio. BTW, any news on the ".DAT" image viewing?

To all, I think they pulled this picture from the "RAW Images" page... can't find it now. Can anybody else, is it just me zoning out?

Mechanical Appearing Objects. Tank with Round attachment.

Strange how the "jpeg artifacts" all cluster around the juicy bits...
IMHO, this is an example of what I call purposeful, "soft redaction".

I think it's a waste of time to look for structures or statues or large pieces of machinery. I think the only possibly reasonable things to look for are fragments of biological structures, fossils, and other stuff that might have actually existed in the Martian environment before it all went to hell. Even then the chances of finding those things are pretty slim, and it's very easy to be fooled by things that have apparent symmetry caused by purely natural processes.

Too pixelated for any real determination, however, on the face of it they don't show enough potential symmetry for my tastes. I also don't care for extreme blow-ups of the images. If we can't see it clearly in full resolution without blow ups, we wait and look somewhere else.

Don't rely on my images, those won't convince anybody. For those who have the gumption, I provide the pixel address to verify and to go to the target to make a determination. So do I understand you correctly that you only view images in the as issued by NASA condition without any magnification?

And I really like Robbie the Robot.
