Curiosity: Potential Anomalies (Update 01/2014)

Yes, scroll down this page mars.jpl.nasa.gov... and you'll come upon dozens of them, but all the ones I looked at were very tiny as well. The Rover's operators were looking at this from all angles though, and quite extensively.

Looking at those amusingly small pics, I had the impression it was the rover's tracks on the ground, as there are two lines, and they are parallel, etc.

I finally found the raw images section, lol, and this is one I find interesting. Pics are from yesterday, the 17th.

And finally, 2 pointers to facilitate the location of what intrigues me.


In A, you can see a spherical, but seemingly made of 4 separate parts, item that left a strait line on the ground, as it moved away from a bigger rock, or pebble.

In B, there is a rock that has 2 circular patterns that are like a mirror of each other, and it looks like some tentacles are extending away from those circles towards the left. One is more apparent than the other, and even on the other side, there is something protruding again from the circles, and they look the same size but not quite the same length.
It is not an indentation, but something that is elevated on the rock's surface.

I didn't count, but they took dozens of photos of this or other lines. I don't know if this is microscopic or is actually a larger anomaly. Lines of a feather flock together.

I believe those are rover tracks. Sometimes the front and rear navcams switch places.

Thanks you guys, I didn't know what they were due to the size and abundance of the pictures.

A note, this thread is now the second thread with the most posts in the Space forum.

I decided to look at some raw images, and decided to look randomly. So I looked at day 311.

I was first looking at a rock at the bottom of the picture where there was a rod-like object, with equal spacing, straight, when I saw it.

I thought; "A tongue? A tail? A starfish arm?... ??? "





And just for good measure, on the same day, there was the following picture taken. A micro-picture.

I call it the hairy creature with human teeth. I'm glad it's only a rock, or so small? lol

So this is why I am not enthused to contribute any longer, I see all kinds of areas weathering in a similar pattern in that picture so I don't find this object that interesting. It does not seem like anything more than rock that fits the area to me.

Then when I see something that does stand out to me no one sees it that way it is all in our eye I guess but that thread has over 80 flags so I am pretty much clearly the odd one out.

Hey, Char-Lee ... I see what you're getting at and to some extent I agree with you, although I wouldn't stop contributing just because some finds get more attention than others.

For example: the very first anomalous feature that I noticed somewhen last year (image no. 3 in this thread) never really gained that much attention. But I still think it displays a rather interesting symmetry with very distinct details. Well, so it's just a minor contribution to the overall collection of potentially interesting stuff that somehow stands out.

With that said, I can only encourage everyone to keep posting about anything that looks unusual to them (while being aware of the usual pitfalls, like JPEG compression artifacts, distance from the various cams, overly extensive zoom settings etc.).

By the way: glad you're back ... I think it's just Symptom (and one or two other contributors) that are still missing/absent, but perhaps they are reading along and will decide to come back sooner or later!

The two above chracters are korean. The middle one reminds me of inu (犬) that means dog. The last one I can't see, it's too blurry

Thanks, I have kept up every page, but the hours of looking at photos and seeing things that no one else sees as I do, as off or out of place, well I don't think I will spend whole days on it anymore even when down time in winter arrives for me :-) I still enjoy all of you guys chat and hope something not blurry and clearly "something" turns up :-)

Apparently i cannot put new posts or threads. The thread page appear blank for me. So i beg for your help. I found what it seems something interesting in a curiosity panogiga image which can be seen here [gigapan.com...] it looks like the bottom of suitcase and a padlock near it.
