They've already pulled the youtube video.
Pretty disgusting to use a child that way, or a family.
I'd still like to see the original video if anyone can find a link.

This is bizarre - went looking for the video and found one (or so I thought)
Played it twice and only audio plays, no video
wth? www.sfgate.com...

Why is anyone here concerned with MSN anyway. When I visit my mom she generally has FOX on but you will never catch me watching any of the idiot channels or talking heads on my own. MSNBC certainly does not speak for me and I hope that FOX doesn't speak for others here but if they do then that truly saddens me because those visits expose me to enough racism and ignorance to reaffirm my decision to drop cable altogether.

I will admit though FOX does have a knack for hiring beauty queens that make it easy on the eyes but I am not fooled for a second I know it is all for ratings. As far as MSMBC goes I couldn't say much about it because I haven't seen any of their programing in years but as far as I am concerned its all different sides of the same coin. I ask how much actual news do any of those 24 hr NEWs stations actually present I read an article last year that said every single one of them cut all funding for investigative journalism departments in other words none of them have investigative journalists anymore. They are just over hyped talk shows now that bitch about the same things day in and day out to further the agendas of their corporate owners.

Right now they have you fooled into thinking they are the NEWS story. No they are NEWS stations. The actual NEWS is what happens in the real world not the studio.

Do yourselves a favor turn it all off stop feeding them. You will not miss a thing I can tell you right now what either side will be doing for the next year. MSMBC will be bitching about republicans and FOX. FOX will be bitching about democrats and MSMBC. So whats new.

I am not shocked that MSNBC would make fun of this sort of situation, but I am shocked that people here are making the assumption that this sort of tasteless BS is some sort of indicator as to how democrats are in general.

Both political parties use children and emotional string-pulling to make themselves look better and I find it just as reprehensible that we generalize entire groups of people for the actions taken by biased media outlets.

Way to knee-jerk guys.

What this sad episode really is a tasteless indicator of...is how MSNBC sees it's own viewing audience and how it has chosen to pander to what it feels their views are.

This is an indictment of MSNBC, through their own (right or wrong) perception of it's democrat viewers.

Why any current (and sane) viewer would continue to accept this characterization by MSNBC, while continuing to support it though their patronage, is beyond me.

On the bright side, perhaps this is why MSNBC viewership is continuing to exponentially lose audience share; Hope for liberals, yet.

A larger part of the problem with today's media, and social interaction in general, is that there are not enough instances of disrespectful, mouthy punks, getting their asses kicked.

Today's media...MSNBC as a network, specifically and in particular, should be responsible for policing
their own stable of "disrespectful, mouthy punks". Yet, they acquiesce, encourage, and perpetuate that behavior.

MSNBC is so out of touch with their own failing reality as a network, that within their own shrinking ratings bubble, they still delude themselves into thinking that they reign 'emperor' (with no clothes).

Using liberal, blood & sand, programming (such as Melissa Harris-Perry, Al Sharpton, Ed Schultz and Martin Bashir) as 'Bread and Circus', they continue to distract their intellectually-impoverished citizen-audience from real issues and honest news.

MSNBC Host Apologizes to Romney "Without Reservation"

...Which I definitely think she owed to the family and her listeners. I was shocked to hear about this and I'm glad she apologized.

I am sorry. Without reservation or qualification. I apologize to the Romney family.
I work by guiding principle that those who offend do not have the right to tell those they hurt that they r wrong for hurting.
I apologize to all families built on loving transracial adoptions who feel I degraded their lives or choices.

I am happy she stood up.

I'm just wondering how many of you would require Phil Robertson to be a man and apologize for the awful things he said about gay people and black people... Talk about hypocrisy! LOL

The video was taken down. In the larger scheme of things it does not really matter though. The cable news networks have given television news a bad name, which is too bad since local news is actually much better.

Today the cable news is fixated with the super storm AKA snow. And now, since we supposedly know the temperatures on Mars, Canada was\is colder than mars today. So i guess we will be having that comparison fairly regularly.

Yeah, it does get cold in North America. Makes me wonder how all the indians (supposedly) lived in North America hundreds of years ago considering they had no real shelter or heat sources.

While I am disgusted by the shameless smearing by Harris-Perry and her cohorts, I'm just as bewildered by ATS falling for the MSM's tricks. Skimming through the responses, I see so many folks saying "see how these democrats are?" Or "this is the typical liberal response!" And the OP obviously condones this mass labeling from a simple ignorant comment from a network that I (and I would HOPE most people here at ATS) try my best to avoid, rather than broadcast. MSNBC is loving this thread.

Sounds like bending over and assuming the predicted position if you ask me. Not to sound cynical, I'm just amazed. I thought we were supposed to "Deny Ignorance". Instead, this site has become a funnel for further refined "LEFTY/RIGHTY" crap. I refuse to believe that this sort of separatism offers learning, just like the racism that this topic banks on. Peace and love, folks.

Welcome to the "new" ATS, where politics is all that matters. It's a disgrace to what this site originally stood for, but it generates hits so the owners don't care.

Is not this the woman who tried to shove her views down the public's throat by carrying out a class act of wearing tampons for earings while on the air?? I mean this Perry woman!!??

In otherwords a drama queen. She reminds me of a female Mr Ed or this Matthews fellow.

I do not have any respect for this Harris woman. Like Matthews, she doesnt seem to have much on her mind and soul but race and race issues. If not that sex issues. The standard default victimization settings which have become so wolfie to people who can think for themselves and are not drama queens.
I have little use for racists no matter from whence they come.

Children do not get to pick their parents..whether adopted or not.

This is supposed to be a sophisticated, educated, cultured woman. I find her to be not so and do not watch MSNBC or any of that genre. For all that matter I do not watch much Fox News and am dubious about their coverage as well. But the other networks...they are way over the top on their coverage ...particularly this Harris woman. This is not news reporting..it is Entitlement thinking and slanted bias trying to pass for excellence. It is not excellence...nor educated...not even common sense on her part.

This show and this woman illustrates and demonstrates how far down in the gutter the media has become.

Is this not the same bunch who ran Sarah Palin and her child over the coals for political lucre??
If so this is at least twice these people or news groups have gotten stuck with their privates in the door and have not learned.

How far down the gutter is this of using and misusing a child..a grandchild any different from the crudity illustrated by this Bashir fellow when going after Sarah Palin.
It shows the same kind or caliber of disregard for thinking and decorum as was this Bashir fellow.
I am not against free speech here..but dont show your ignorance and lack of civility in so doing. And particularly by using or misusing a child to make your political points.
This genuinely shows how classy these people are ..also how classy this network works to get it's points across.
And this is not the first time.

Americans demand better and higher standards from their political parties and the groups who shill for them. They are beginning to find many of these severely wanting.

These people seem to think themselves so entitled to their views at public expense and sensibilities that they would use a child as cannon fodder.

Let me say that this is not leadership. And this very poor tack puts the political party they support in a very dim view in the minds of the public who can still think for themselves.

I dispise entitlement thinking from any political party...or party shill.

Thanks,
Orangetom

Seriously? This video is what has people so up in arms?

I must be on a different wavelength entirely, because I don't see this as racist or baby bullying.

Don't misunderstand, I really, truly couldn't care any less about MSNBC, and I had never heard of MHP before this controversy, but I find it amusing that when she and a panel of comedians make a few comments they get immediate backlash, called 'racist', 'racebaiters' and people requesting her job on the line, but so many rush to Phil Robertson's defense because it's his first amendment right to say intolerant things.

Even IF she had said the most racist, ignorant, inflammatory, child hating thing imaginable, shouldn't she too, be protected by "freedom of speech"? Shouldn't all of you be rushing to her defense to say such things? What's the difference?

I tend to agree with you. But it was very insensitive and coming from her, quite surprising, to me.

But I agree with you on the double standard as far as Phil Robertson goes. When he spoke his mind, many here supported his right to say whatever he wanted and they threw fits when he was fired! When someone else on the other end of the political spectrum does the SAME THING, they throw fits again, because she spoke her mind.

The hypocrisy here is blatant. But I don't really expect anything else.

One of the base tennets of Mormonism is that non whites are inferior. Racism is still quite pronounced in the Mormon church.

Isn't the real question, if Willard has a non-white child in his family how is he going to justify still practicing the lies, I mean his faith, when the lies, I mean the faith, only likes white people?

What is stronger to Willard, his blood or the lies, I mean his faith?

Even if the Mormon Church is racist, not everyone in the religion is a racist. I don't think Mitt is necessarily racist, but he is definitely classist. If you're a wealthy black person, you're fine. But if you're poor of any color, you're not worth noticing.

What is stronger to Willard, his blood or the lies, I mean his faith?

Who cares? I don't know many people that follow their religion 100% of the time. And racism is no longer a tenet, if it ever was. I know they had racist practices, but I'd hardly call it a tenet of the religion.
