Obama doesn't have to sign it.

He could veto it and state that unless the provisions for unemployment are back in place, he will continue to veto.

Hell yeah, just like the U.K the welfare bill is being addressed along with a transformation of public services.

We have seen a lot of cuts and savings running into the Billions, yet our taxes remain a constant. No reduction there, so there must be a cut in borrowing? No, not there either. So where the hell is our money going?

Oh yeah, we're still fighting in Afghanistan, giving support to the terrorists, oops, rebels in Syria and throwing money at developing countries. Yet and this is the best bit, we're allowing citizens, with many through no fault of their own being unable to work, to suffer.

Thats the point i was making. They know its going to happen.

You all know what happens when you pull a rubber band hard. EVERYONE DOES.

I guess my point wasn't clear enough?

Yeah..perfectly clear..i was actually just tagging along with your point...hard to tell sometimes i know.

Roger That.

The corporate welfare continues while humans are termed "useless eaters". The usefull eater is as yet undefined by the corporates. It is clear who is running things, right? This nation was bought. Face facts.

The corporations are now officially persons. If you think that is as far as they will go, you are very wrong. For those capable of introspection, consider how Americans have been carefully programmed to adopt the values and moral structure of corporations, which are in essence, machines.

You may wake up like I did, and puke on the whole thing.

Restrict the ability for a person to feed them self naturally.
Force yourself into being their only path to food.
Continue until enough of the population is dependent.

Use food as weapon.

Rinse/Repeat... Own Planet.

Strange you say that...Russia has just called for a 10 year ban on GMOs until they can be properly tested for safety and are considering banning imports of monsanto GMO corn.

They are citing evidence gleaned from a French study that GMO corn causes tumors and cancers and diabetes.

What if...this is a plot to rid America (shortly followed by most of the rest of the world) of the 'unprofitable' people...stop the money, take away freedom of choice and offer them 'food aid'...but all of the food aid is GMO based, they might be able to significantly cut down the numbers of poor , in less than a decade through cancers and other diseases caused by the highly dodgy GMOs.

Am i the only one that feels like NAFTA should be repealed. That we should stop our reliance on cheap foreign junk built with child labor?

Maybe bring back american manufacturing and other high paying industry. You know CAREERS not jobs.
Building air conditioners and televisions, not flipping burgers.

A way to support ourselves and our familys instead of this welfare state that nafta and bush made.

In the U.K the Minister for work and pensions called welfare recipients 'Stock'. Not quite as bad as 'useless eaters', but not far behind.

Unemployment is not welfare but thanks for insulting a few hundred thousand who used to have an income they paid taxes on to support the unemployment program and are now unfortunatly are out of a job due to a crappy economy. Way to go on tbat pride building statement.

Sorry if I insulted anyone, I live in the UK and has Industrial disablement benefit , but Im lumped in with anyone else who is on benefit and we are all called layabouts.

In fact I don't want to be treated different as we are all poor and their needs are no less than mines.

Its only fair as I lump MPs, Royalty, Bankers as Btards.

Not just allowing our people to suffer...don't forget the tens of thousands of pensioners that are going to just be left to feeze to death this Winter when the choices are to eat or be warm.

And we're supposed to be a G8 country. Among the worlds wealthiest...yet we allow our people to simply die by the 1000's every single year...totally disgusting.

At least the bastard politicians will have their pay rise..that will probably comfort the pensioners no end.

White House to allow jobless benefits to expire for 1.3 million

Not to be critical, but it's not the "White House," it's Congress. The President can't extend jobless benefits.

Obama does whatever he wants, makes his own rules, doesn't give a damn about what congress wants or doesn't want.

If he truly wanted to change this he wouldn't give a thought as to what congress decides.

But I guess he only acts like a dictator when his own interests are at hand. The rest of the time he plays the powerless card.

Peace

As several people mentioned, this isn't cancelling welfare, so based on the subject line this should go to the HOAX bin.

But that aside, exactly how long should the government pay for unemployment? It's not a lifetime benefit. Should it take two years to find a job?

I live in the Uk and I am on benefit, Im quite happy to give it up, as long as they give up taxing, lets just say one tax, VAT stop that and my sons will give me the 20% that they pay off their wages
Which would be 10 times what I get in benefit.

Im happy for the government to keep their money as long as my family get to keep theirs.

I dont think it was dont to be misleading. I think some confuse entitlements with safety nets.
They are both government handouts, you pay in for both out of taxes.

Only a safety net is designed to catch everyone. UE is designed to help the working class.

I do see the real and serious threat with this situation however I tend to agree with you in some cases:

I know of at least two people who have "collected" unemployment for going on three years now...extension after extension.

There are MANY "jobs" available in fact here in Texas, places are "shorthanded" currently in some areas.
Things probably won't be "like they were before" and the job market HAS changed for the worst in many cases but I do believe if you are looking for "work" it's out there!

I have one family member who lost her job in the medical field earlier this Summer: she has already re-trained in the field of medical records (HUGE need coming up for government, private sector, and insurance company jobs!) and starts a new career in Jan with the hospital footing the bill for advancing her training!

Change...it's hard I know but you have to get real sometimes...you have to 'go where the jobs will be.

I have been saying this since 2008 when the unemployment runs out in mass watch out. We are living on a razors edge in this world and the tide just might turn for the worse.

When people can not feed or house themselves it is very scary. Also if you make under 12 dollars an hour you are also screwed. Inflation is real people you can actually see it.

The above is not true, I would not be happy with Vat cut and my kids just give me the cash, as there are a lot of people out there who have not got family and they themselves have paid into the pot.

I just want people to stop attacking the poor, with all the taxis we pay in the UK and wages low, its impossible if you lose your job or become disabled to do anything else but claim benefit.

You see the 30% you would have put by for a rainy day has been stolen by government, and now they don't want to give you any back and call you names in the newspapers.

Imagine if you loaned a person money week after week for years and then you needed some back and they started insulting you and then put you through degrading loopholes to get it.

you would not be happy.

Why would it be their intention? Revolt topples government it doesn't strengthen their position with the citizenship.
See: The American Revolution . Then ask England what it did to their control over the colonies

Ask Louis and Marie what revolt did to their position in society.

Intelligent design, create more dependance by removing something we all need in this corporate geedocracy. $$$$$

Welfare Works.....its a program to put welfare recipients into jobs. What really happens is, they put you into places like cemetery and the likes. Rake mow weed eat......go home and still make less than minimum wage in handouts.

White House to allow jobless benefits to expire for 1.3 million

At the end of this year all benefits for 1.3 million jobless will end and will not be debated till next year.

They will be left with nothing at all.

many of you wanted this so your wish has been granted.

Lock your doors and arm yourselves.

These people are not scroungers they have worked and paid into the system,

www.theguardian.com...

A couple of observations here.

1 The OP's has a weird way to word things, unemployment benefits is not welfare, and "jobless benefits"?
OK...

2 What is to expire is EMERGENCY LONG TERM unemployment benefits. This is not a program designed to go on forever, but it seems that once any program is created people expect it to become written in stone.

3 This view is what creates a society of entitlements, it's like a drug and once you are hooked you will be rubbing your arm for more and that is when the government has total control over you.

4 The emergency unemployment benefit was design to give more weeks of benefits in states that have higher unemployment rates. Basically provided a little more than a year in most states with combine state/Feb benefits.

5 As employment rates go down so does the benefit, so please explain once again why this program should not expire?
