Here's what I'd like to see happen, sort of. Let them go to the airport and then have the TSA put them in one of their new detention pods. Then have someone take a photo in hour --oh I dunno hour 93 for instance, of their detention to really show all of us what the pods look like.

Westboro Baptists ‘booking flights’ for Johannesburg to protest Mandela’s funeral

So who gets the Darwin Award for the month of December? WIll it be

... the 6 Mexican thieves who stole the radioactive materials and are expected to die in the hospital?

... the racist/homophobic/interbred Westboro Baptist idiots going to Africa?

Or will the world get lucky and be rid of both??

I would not like to witness any harm to the members of WBC. Some of them are good people who are enthusiastic about their devotions. Some of the comments in this thread have been ghastly in regard as to how these groups of people should be treated.

One of these days these folks are going to go too far...that day may be sooner than they think.

Why would they protest Nelson Mandella anyhow?Wasn't he one of the most peaceful men ever?

Well, I guess we should say loudly how they should be (mis)treated according to Biblical literalism.

Last documentary I saw on them the eldest Phelps daughter - now the de facto cult leader - had a child from premarital sex, and according to Biblical law she should actually be thrown to death with stones (Deut 22:13-21), and her bastard child should forever be cast out from the congregation (Deut 23:2).

That is what God thinks on the Westboro's little hypocrite cult, and their judgement is surely coming.

That's judging them by their own standards and the unspeakable distress they must have caused other grief-stricken families in the past just to push their lame cult.

I don't see how anyone can be moral and side with these ill-mannered demoniacs, but hey, each to their own.

Westboro Baptists ‘booking flights’ for Johannesburg to protest Mandela’s funeral

My message to Africa.

Dear Africa,

There are some dip-#s coming to represent the USA for Mandela's funeral.

They do not represent the USA, nor the general public here.

We are very sorry.

P.S. There are also some idiots coming from Westboro Baptist we are sorry about that too.

This is why I say I feel dirty hoping they get what they wish for because I know what might happen to them, but they are the ones putting themselves in harms way.

I just feel that they have been asking for something really unpleasant to happen to them for far too long, and eventually, you have stop protecting people from the consequences of their own bad behavior.

Well, nominally they're protesting because he had a divorce and then remarried. Which means that they all believe in miserable marriages.
What they really mean is that no-one's been paying enough attention to them recently so they need to do something spectacular to raise their profile. I don't think that they realise or care that it's spectacularly stupid of them.

If they were harmed, their weirdo followers would only see them going to glory.

They have "followers"?

I was under the impression they were one big nasty family of lawyers, and that some of them (a daughter and Nate, a son, and one other woman(?) GOT OUT.

Folks have already posted what I was thinking; take away their passports.
Or, let them go, and THEN take away their passports.

They are internationally recognized as a hate group; Britain has banned them from entry (so has Canada). I think it'd be hilarious either way - they spend their money and get arrested there (oops!) - (which would make an AWESOME "Locked Up Abroad" episode!!!!) - or, as Raxoxane said; they never come back at all, and are finished and vanished from the face of the planet.

Pariahs!

Poor Nate; how embarrassing for him and his sisters/nieces/cousins/2nd cousins (et al).

Nate's blog is interesting to read...

Still, SA should IMMEDIATELY pass an emergency resolution/statute to prohibit them from coming there to disrupt things. What a bunch of, erm.... cases.

(I also saw on the Anon website that listed all their members a couple of years ago a few comments that say they (WBC) are actually IMPROVING the LGBT 'image' - simply by being so all-up-in-your-grill about it!)

Hate the haters, not those they hate. Sort of thing. Or... My enemy's enemy is my friend?

You reap what you sow my friend.
These people have picketed funerals and harassed and abused so many innocent, decent people.
They deserve everything they get and while I do not like violence and nor do I support the death penalty or anything like that, I have no sympathy for them if something does happen.

I truly hope that the WBC get everything that's coming to them.
They are scum, they are the worst, most despicable human beings.
If you live by the sword, you should also die by the sword.

NONE of them are good people, do not defend them

Because they are american, and our constitution protects their unpopular speech. It's a simple concept really.

Actually,
Our constitution now protects what the system wants it to protect.
The powers that be are all for having Westborough out there stirring up crap and inciting anger. The media LIKES having Westborough out there making religious people look bad.

Westborough is a tool used by the system to further divide us and the system protects Westborough.

They are malignant and disgusting because they give the manipulative media a tool for hate and another weapon for division.
They also have the complete blessing of the powers that be.
No one in the US is safer than the radical factions that make politicians look moderate in their actions.

To be quit honest, squarehead666 has made some very valid points.
He's not real tactful but he's right.

There is a difference between what is legal and what is decent. What the WBC do at funerals is unforgivable. . Every creed and culture, religion and non religion have one thing in common- they have a period of mourning to honour their dead. The way they do this may differ but if you didn't like the person when they were alive then you simply don't turn up- that is good manners. If you don't know them then you don't turn up,

It is at this point, I try to works out some mitigating factors but I can't, they were scum turning up at US soldiers funeral and that view, even if it is a publicity stunt ( for what? ) doesn't change.

To add to my own post:
Was just doing some research and see that there are about 2 dozen of them who have "defected" now....
good on them!!

ALL immediate or extended family members (as is their congregation with the exception of one Mr. Wu). At least, as far as I can tell.

I was going to say that a necklaced Fred Phelps would be an interesting image.
As much as detest him and his group I cannot wish death on anyone.
Mb a little asswhooping might put the fear of God in him though.

You might want to send a letter to JSOC and inform them it's quite rude to use drones at funerals.
Or first responders, oh hell, just anybody that is innocent!
"Surgical strikes"

If elephants were surgeons perhaps.
