American Studies Association endorses academic boycott of Israel

The executive body of the American Studies Association (ASA), the nation’s oldest and largest association of scholars of American culture and history, on Wednesday endorsed a boycott of Israeli academic institutions, calling them complicit in a "multi-tiered system of oppression that has denied Palestinians their basic rights." The American Jewish Committee (AJC) denounced the boycott decision as "despicable." The resolution to shun Israeli academic institutions was approved unanimously by the 20-member national council, which has urged the ASA's 5,000 members to adopt it as policy. “This complicity has been extensively documented, and manifests through direct research and production of military technologies — as with the Israeli Institute of Technology (Technion)’s partnerships with Israeli weapons manufacturers … and Tel Aviv University’s development of weapons systems used by the occupation army in committing grave violations of human rights,” the ASA wrote in a news release. While the movement to use boycott tactics to pressure Israel on Palestinian rights has considerable support in Europe, it has been largely opposed by major academic institutions in the U.S. until now.

Good to see some organizations here in the states are making moves that the sellouts that run our government is afraid to make. People are finally waking up to Israels crimes and want to distance America from aiding Israels constant crimes against the Palestinians. By all rights America should have cut the welfare we give Israel and place sanctions against them for the crimes they have committed against America.

Its illegal.
What most Americans dont know is that they have an Office of Antiboycott Compliance who's sole function is to prosecute Americans who wish to boycott Israel.

What do the Laws Prohibit?
Conduct that may be penalized under the TRA and/or prohibited under the EAR includes:
Agreements to refuse or actual refusal to do business with or in Israel or with blacklisted companies.

Well, if thats true, then that just speaks volumes doesn't it? It's sickening to think just how involved Israel is in the rigging of this country, and the world at large. They are truly dug-in in every crevice, and wield such influence that NOTHING they deem detrimental will ever be applied to them. They'll lobby, boycott and whine all day about anything for themselves, but won't allow it against them.

Have you read the history of the six day war? I wouldn't want to mess with Israel anyways. Seems like everyone has a thing for hating Israel. Also wouldn't be smart for academic institutions to boycott Israel, they have some of the best learning institutions and minds in the world. You think there's a vast Jewish/Zionist conspiracy don't you(makes sense cause EVERYONE LOVES them /s). Take your tinfoil hat off for one moment, learn some common sense, and really open your eyes, because you aren't very smart. Your comments are evident of this.

I think that when on considers the amount of law makers that have moved to put in legislation on non-Jewish people that one may not criticise even the most barbaric actions of Israel something is very wrong because freedom of thought and speech are a part of why world wars have been fought. They were not fought by the many who died and experienced them one way or the other, so that a sly war could be waged to protect just one tiny group of people against the rest of the world.

However, it is important that we dont place all Jews within the Rothschild clan and their stranglehold on the financial misery of the world through their banking systems - which we note not one banker in major countries like the UKM has been prosecuted - strange that because we prosecute rogue traders who damage banks, but not the organ grinder bankers who decide banking policy.

I do think people suffer from a myth about fearing Israeli fighting forces, the last war showed them up to have been very close to struggling with soldiers on the ground. I especially remember two, one tubby and clearly not fit trying to keep up with the other after a particul clash. What we usually see are soldiers armed so well by the USA and UK etc against home-made arms that they should be able to overpower easily. The myths are put about by Israeli media which we know also stretches into every country around the world. People should also remeber that other countries do have brilliant scientists. With only a small population of Jews all round the world as well as in Israel these myths of brilliance does not mean that only the Jews are brilliant, they are actually a very small number of people and scientific knowledge is spreading at a fantastic pace all round the world with people from many different races and beliefs.

One should remember that when a nation decides to announce to the world they are special and chosen, they start to built a myth and it gets bigger and bigger until it starts to ruin their lives and swamps them completely. One should perhaps ask the question, if all are so brilliant and with such financial and aid advantages, why are so many young people leaving Israel each year?

I also wonder how many Jews would agree that life without all the myths spouted about them would be a great improvement. Many are not courting the image so often portrayed by these myths and would prefer a peaceful existence.

American academics has become so awash with Marxist over the lasts few decades. You will never find them reconsidering wholesale teaching of communism even considering the death and oppression at its hand over the last 100 years.
