Even if the plans were lost during the fire at the library of Alexander, there'd still be physical evidence of these devices,of which I've yet to see any trace?
I'm by no means an expert on this subject,so I am willing enough to be educated by those who do have empircal evidence that what we believe today is wrong.

Maybe the tales/history of King Arthur are true. I believe in the first or second chapter it is discussed that giants had moved the healing stones to Salisbury, naming it Stonehenge.
Stan Lee's Superhumans is a television series that debuted August 5, 2010 on History. There's no evidence of devices because apart from copper saws and sand they didn't use devices to build the pyramids. In fact they did,but just the devices called the human mind and the human body. That's why we say we couldn't build them today because we are too lazy and self reliant on devices. If we can't go out to the DIY store (or order it from Amazon) to get a device to do a specific task,we're stuffed and give up waaaaaaaaaay too easily.
I do agree on the moulding theory though. There is a LOT of very solid evidence that the pyramids were made using limestone concrete, that after all this time would have been baked to the point of being indistinguishable from natural stone.

Well they couldn't exactly just plug in a Marshall Stack so they did their best, eh?
I think the idea of striking them in specific ways is getting off the right track though. You would see a wear pattern on the stone if that were the case because these things have been around a long time, eh? And are such patterns there to be found? Rather, I would guess it just demonstrates that they resonate. A crowd of people singing, multiple large drums, any assemblage of instruments would benefit from having some large resonators present.
Also, I guess this is a good place to mention that I'm pretty convinced that what most people think of as Stonehenge is just the structural elements for a larger building made of wood with a roof. There are a lot of post holes that have had odd explanations over the years but they are arranged just so for a particular, geometrically clever sort of roof. A fair number of people have written about it by now so it's all out there on Google etc. Some people out there have even suggested that the shape of the building with a roof constructed in the particular way it probably was constructed would have given the built out Stonehenge excellent acoustics, and choosing structural stones based in part for their acoustic properties certainly does fit (resonate lol) with that.
In defense of the people who like Stonehenge as they are used to knowing it without a roof etc, Stonehenge is so old that people who are still very "ancient" to us were probably the first to see it more like most people are used to seeing it now. That it probably originally had a roof etc doesn't mean that it didn't also then spend thousands of years without one, interpreted and used as a structure meant to be the way it appears.
