It isn't Jingoism, it is defending our population in a piece of our territory.

What is embarrassing, is your refusal to support your nation in this matter.

All socialists are traitors.

I'm sorry did I miss something here?

When you've wiped the foam from your mouth and calmed down maybe you can explain what you're talking about.

Im not a fan of war or blind patritotism but Im also for 100% self determination and if 99% of falkand island residents want to remain British then that what should happen.

No matter how much I object to Argentina's stance I don't think raining down nuclear destruction on them is a very sane idea.

Your right, destroying millions of civilians is a horrible thing to suggest.

Plus a nuclear strike would be overkill to the extreme. Our conventional forces could obliterate Argentina armed forces 100X over. They haven’t modernised since the late 1970's we have, we outclass them in every way. To the UK armed forces stationed on the Falklands it would be a turkey shoot now. Unless they can buy a few dozen odd 4.5 Gen or 5th Gen fighters in the next few years and some 21st century warships any attack would be suicide!

This is the important point.

They cant do anything. They can moan and whinge and flap their arms about in impotent fury but they cant alter the facts on the ground. They would have to modernise in a major way and it would be seen and responded to.

Nuclear weapons are not relevant because they are only a deterrent. They could not be used in any way in a conventional territorial dispute. A fact that is well known to all parties. Trying to use them as a threat would simply expose the UK government to ridicule.

i can't believe Argentina would degrade themselves with this behavior over a tiny speck of land that isn't attached to them.

What are they really going to do? Rant, rave, and look like petulant children? LOL

Argentina has threatened oil businesses operating off the Falkland Islands with fines, confiscations and jail sentences for their executives.

This can't be right, it says for those companies operating in Argentina, not off the Falklands.

U.K should stop worrying about Falkland islands and start worrying about its collapsing economy , unemployment and people going into abject poverty ... I,d say give away the falkland islands , disband your military and spend all the money on getting your economy running .. The french carrier will protect you
reply to post by maddy21

The British carriers Ocean and Illustrious can do a better job, as can the RAF and the Army. Does France have an "Army"?

It's economy problems pale compared to practically everywhere else, that includes the French.

It doesn't matter ...the British economy is in a debt time bomb it cannot escape from , the carrier reference was for queen Elizabeth , you could build it and sell it to one of those rich Asian nations and start building it again to make sure the people have jobs ... This Welfare state has to end.....get those jobless lazy ones some jobs in exchange of welfare
reply to post by maddy21

As stated, it pales compared to the French, and the rest of the EU, which is the real financial time bomb in the immediate region nearest the UK.

Strange your posting of all this nonsense with a bitter tone; fess up, when did Britain colonise your country and how many wars have you fought with it?

Indian troll probably.

The Argentinean authorities know that their recurring ranting and raving will do sod all except antagonise and ensure the Falklander’s remain British. However, what they do achieve is keeping the nationalistic dross alive in Argentina. This is particularly important, especially at this time when the Argentinean economy is in such a parlous state.

I find any South American nation complaining about colonisation crass hypocrisy, as they are built on the bones and land of the indigenous natives. The Falklands was unoccupied when settled variously by the French and British. The Argentineans were still colonising land in the 1880’s – check out the Patagonian genocide. I will trust any South American nation when they start to hand back land to the original inhabitants!

Regards

One word.

"Trident".

That is all.

I'm not suggesting we actually do it, just instill the fear of god into their populace, such that they force their government to give up their stance.

The big problem with an "Or Else" ultimatum is what do you do when the other side replies "Or Else What"?

Quite - I would hazard a huess and say he hails from there or thereabouts. So his ranting against the UK is a little hypocritical - coming from a country where people live next to open sewers and abject poverty rules for most. For a country that has 20 times the population as the UK, yet only just pips it on the GDP scale, their economy isn't so fantastic either.

Its funny seeing brits soo butt hurt, is it so hard to see your former colony surpass you in science and technology ?
Rather sad to see one human being take so much pleasure over the suffering of another ...

I was one of those Indians under poverty ...i worked hard, studied and got out of it..i did not end up as one of those fat lazy folks with a free food and Internet connection eating up welfare ... Who is having laugh now ? those people who are under poverty and getting out or those in Britain getting into poverty ?

India's poverty will fall from 51% to 22% by 2015: UN report

UK seeing big rise in poverty

Watch how you treat people, because you might be the one who is gonna be laughed at ...
