I'm gonna throw something out there and this in no way has any real meaning or relevance other than something fun to bat around in your head but the math is reasonably sound.
The federal government spent 1 billion dollars in R&D, infrastructure, IT costs and production for the Healthcare.gov website. This is a loose number but generally accepted.
There are roughly 320 million American citizens which means, for the cost of the Healthcare.gov website, the government could have given every American 3 million dollars. That would have paid for their healthcare, their childrens healthcare and their grandchildrens healthcare.
After 3 generations, they would have the tax dollars to do it again, now, thats a healthcare plan I could get behind!edit on 26-11-2013 by Helious because: (no reason given)

What is 1 billion divided by 320 million? I don't get 3 million. I get 3.125.
So for three dollars for all 320 million we can have health care?

Single payer, wouldn't that be great. I'd rather have a bumbling nonprofit government run insurance than a corrupt monopoly. They seem to do a good job with medicare.
