Curious about a plane crash

I know this picture is presented as a joke, but I am curious if anyone knows if this was a actual plane crash, or just a photo shop thing. If it was a real crash, does anyone know where it was or when?
Please keep in mind, I am not posting this for the joke really, I am more interested in the actual crash itself.

Thank you, not sure why I didnt think to check snopes. Silly me. It is amazing though that after all that went wrong with the crash, only 3 people died.

I could tell that the crashed aircraft had the same livery as the one in the foreground and did a Google search for "Mandarin Airlines crash" and that's what came up.

I agree that it's amazing that only 3, out of the 315 people on board, died.
