I am a woman so I will be joining the ORDER of the EASTERN STAR...I got chastised by the mods for an earlier mason forum where I said something snarky like just join them and stop guessing what they are all about...I decided to put my money where my mouth is so to speak...A former relative was a very longtime member so there is my in...If you are a single woman joining you must have a relative in the Masons...Although the man that gave me the application said that it is rarely checked...he gave me a pamphlet and a phone number...and his name as a reference...I am looking forward to doing helpful things for the community in which I now reside...The winters here are long and cold and I get cabin fever quickly...I am not joining to spy for ATS but rather to do my part in my community...But if there is any satanic rituals I will let you know...does knitting blankets count???

I will try to keep you posted of the fun stuff I am hoping to be a part of...

TRULY,

Well, I wish you all the luck and good feeling I can. My Grandmother was Eastern Star and I have her ring in my safe as a family keepsake. It's a beautiful ring that meant a great deal to her in life. She always felt it was one of her greater accomplishments to have earned. Unfortunately, I was young and never shown or allowed to see that side of my Grandparent's life, but it sure seemed to give them a great level of satisfaction and sense of purpose in life.

Hopefully you find the same there as they did.

One can help people without joining some organization.

I took 8 homeless people to a buffet the other day.

That's very interesting to me

I wanted to comment so I could keep up with this thread as you add more.. I hope you add more as you get further into it. I am just interested.

I have a guy friend who is a free mason. I just haven't had the time to properly talk to him about it. He had told me they do a lot of community service.

Hope you enjoy your time as a mason

Peace and love to you ~~~>>>

I wish you well. I know the Eastern Star ladies take good care of us. They cook some meals for us on occasion and do a wonderful job. It makes me smile when folks trot out all that satanic stuff about masons, but when they do it about the Eastern Star, and I think of all those Sweet ladies that come to the meetings, it's down right hilarious.

Especially when you learn about that star and what it's meaning is.

Hm, the upright star may be a reference to Jesus himself ("Mind over matter"). The downward star is the symbol of the goat, or materialism (laveyan satanism).

That is exactly right. And thank you for being an active part of making the world better.
Food for thought, one man can take a few people to a buffet, but 100 men can build a home with a kitchen for the homeless. Both are noble causes, but there is a lot that can happen when many people are on the same page.

Hi...if you want to join an organization...meet good people and help to improve your community...I think you are making a healthy choice.

I have a story to tell about a fun moment in my past and a group of (Eastern Star) women. Several years ago I was working for an (insurance adjusting firm) and Halloween was coming up...we were allowed to wear a costume to work. That year too... I had 2 parties to go to on 2 different nights...so I went to the best local costume store and rented a turn of the century costume. I had the big hat on with the feathers....a long to the ankle dress and a parasol....I looked like I just stepped out of 1900.

Anyway....after work (when I still had the costume on) I stopped by a cocktail lounge to meet a friend for a drink; it was located in a prominent hotel; as I walked through the front doors there was a large group of women standing in the lobby...all dressed in evening attire....

Anyway...as I walked through the door they all turned and looked at me...smiled and clapped...like I was a big star or something....they just loved my costume. They were a group of Eastern Star women there for a convention.

Women cant be Freemasons?, I think that might depend on the lodge, Edith Cowan was a known mason

in 1916 Cowan became Freemason, admitted to the Australian federation of Droit Humain.

She is on the Australian $50 note and has a low-grade university named after her.

Um...no.

The emblem of the Order is a five-pointed star with the white ray of the star pointing downwards towards the manger. In the Chapter room, the downward-pointing white ray points to the West. The character-building lessons taught in the Order are stories inspired by Biblical figures:
Adah (Jephthah's daughter, from Judges)
Ruth, the widow
Esther, the wife
Martha (sister of Lazarus, from the Gospel of John)
Electa (the "elect lady", from II John), the mother

Actually, in regular Freemasonry, we do not permit women to join. It's a fraternity. Just as they frowned upon me trying to join a sorority in college. (I even promised to keep the toilet seat down)

There are irregular branches that are not recognized by the UGLE that allow women and atheists. (though I will never understand what an atheist would get out of it)
