It does seem you are lumping rather a great deal into the empathy pot (not meaning to offend you in anyway and do see where your coming from), but normally the definition would be someone who has the ability to emotionally feel what others feel around them or the ability to feel the soul or vibe of a place.

Sorry but have difficulty understanding why you would be vague regarding what is being perceived?
The greatest difficulty of an empathy is working out where the feeling originates from. Just cos we feel something doesn’t mean we own it.

I have found vagueness from learning purposes allows people to choose their own path, if I were to be very specific on this topic I would start to come across as a dogmatic belief, which this is not.
My purpose for posting was to spark interest in empathetic awareness, without dictating rules. Each person chooses a path, this path will most likely not suit anyone else but that person, so if I were to tell a person how they should do something, then it defeats intent.
In today's narcissistic material driven world, awareness of feelings of others and the greater awareness of self is often reduced down to an ego-centric view point. When appealing to the ego-centric awareness one must plant a seed within this reality in order for awareness to one day be discovered, but never demand it grow to a tree in one day.
The awareness may come in many different ways, but when that one seed of a greater awareness blooms it leads to the infinite possibilities of our original source.
I hope I made sense.
Peace,

Thanks RT, but think we might be missing each other a bit here . . .
My issue is you are changing the current accepted definition of the word empathy. What concerns me is this would cause people who are new to the subject to create inaccurate definitions creating future miscommunication with others.

So are you an Empathic, Now What?
