Actually there is nothing wrong with Siddhis so long as you
don't seek them --- they can just develop on their own..
or "supposedly" once one is finished with the process
known as "enlightenment"; then "supposedly" one is allowed
to do anything they want --- as such a person is assumed to
be so plugged into love that they can almost do no wrong..
that they would be incorruptible.

But of course most people who get a "light buzz" are all-too
ready to attempt to play with Siddhis, and they get themselves
in deep doo doo.

This is why I stress so much the toxic nature of symbols...
because people attempt to develop 'powers' through the
use of symbols.

Nice reply.

It does seem you are lumping rather a great deal into the empathy pot (not meaning to offend you in anyway and do see where your coming from), but normally the definition would be someone who has the ability to emotionally feel what others feel around them or the ability to feel the soul or vibe of a place.

You are correct, because there are no right or wrongs here, since we are all connected.

And empathy seems to take on different labels or meanings due to words. Feeling empathy does involves others, but not to forget the "I" is doing the experiencing, thus giving the person those particular feelings.

Many people seem to have a difficult time these days understand their feelings may not be their own, but more of a collect.

My intentions for the OP were to be as vague as I could, and to lump together the "You", the "I", and the "We", because we are all one.

Our unruly ego's seem to be the veil that tells us different though.

Peace,

RT

Hey Kelly thanks for sharing your thoughts

No agreed, there is nothing wrong with Siddis but the Swami’s do say they are a distraction, implying that’s not what the aspirant should be focusing on. Wouldn’t personally agree with that either as they can help us considerably along our journeys imo.

Enlightenment always seems a bit of a misnomer to me, as you would think there is always more to develop within oneself on an infinite journey, it is always placed as the greatest of spiritual attainments. If you consider how many people could have attained enlightenment throughout history they sure aren’t all hanging out on earth now
and only the bodhisattvas take this vow to stay till everyone has arrived at this attainment.

Like all skills in life it is more advisable to have a mentor learning a new skill, but those that are self taught can provide new and creative insights, and if a teacher is required, well they tend to appear when the student is ready, as they say.

What sort of symbols are you talking about to develop powers, can you give me an example?

Yes absolutely one giant collective being of a family

Agreed it can be viewed as one or separate, but you can’t read a map if all the locations are placed on one point, distinction allows navigation.

In order to process information it is helpful to determine ‘what type’ of information it is, thoughts and feelings are processed differently but intertwine and weave at points and also reside on different planes imo.

Sorry but have difficulty understanding why you would be vague regarding what is being perceived?

The greatest difficulty of an empathy is working out where the feeling originates from. Just cos we feel something doesn’t mean we own it.

Peace and love to you also my friend! Not trying to be difficulty as mentioned, personally learning something here!

I have found vagueness from learning purposes allows people to choose their own path, if I were to be very specific on this topic I would start to come across as a dogmatic belief, which this is not.

My purpose for posting was to spark interest in empathetic awareness, without dictating rules. Each person chooses a path, this path will most likely not suit anyone else but that person, so if I were to tell a person how they should do something, then it defeats intent.

In today's narcissistic material driven world, awareness of feelings of others and the greater awareness of self is often reduced down to an ego-centric view point. When appealing to the ego-centric awareness one must plant a seed within this reality in order for awareness to one day be discovered, but never demand it grow to a tree in one day.

The awareness may come in many different ways, but when that one seed of a greater awareness blooms it leads to the infinite possibilities of our original source.

I hope I made sense.

Peace,

RT

Thanks RT, but think we might be missing each other a bit here . . .

My issue is you are changing the current accepted definition of the word empathy. What concerns me is this would cause people who are new to the subject to create inaccurate definitions creating future miscommunication with others.

We have some pretty smart members on ATS. that may have the abilities to feel others emotions, and make the connection that one of the reasons they may be feeling a certain way is because they are empathetic.

Like a was saying earlier there is no barrier between any of us, just the illusion there is.

Another good example is:

Taking a tuning fork (middle C) placing it one side of the room, and then going to the other side of the room and striking another (middle C) tuning fork.

The one that wasn't struck will start to vibrate because they are the same key, if we think of the one that was not struck as a empath, unless they are aware of their connection then they will never understand, but the ones that are aware can figure out that the emotions they are feeling are not their, thus acknowledging the emotions, then letting them go.

This is something the western world has great difficultly with, hence constant drama and chaos.

I grew up in a bad situation and could sense danger and when to avoid it, to the present day. ( I am retired now and do not leave home but to shop. I cannot tolerate crowds.) I could just look at person and know to stay or run. My first experience was when I was six and walking down the street alone. I remember seeing a car with a lone driver following me and looking at me, it was like a brick wall came up and I had to run the other way cause I could not move that way. Then a few days later I heard my mom and friends talking about a missing child. I use to think I had a guardian angel, but as I got older I asked the question "Why don't all children have a guardian angel?". I think we must all have that ability, but how some tap into it and others do not, I don't know.

So are you an Empathic, Now What?

Yes,

all humans are,

Those that don't have empathy are labeled by psychology as psychopaths or sociopaths.

Empathy can increase or decrease in a person due to their environmental surroundings and social interactions.

Now what? you ask...

I reply with

What now?

Jokes,

Apply what you feel you have to better the world around you, or not and stay on the net posting on sites like this until You and I get too old to enjoy being young.
