OK mods, not sure where this one should go but I smell a general conspiracy here somewhere. Maybe it's TPTB wanting to insure our pets but not us, dunno. Maybe it should just go to jokes because it sure is one. Or maybe it's just giving me a case of political madness brought on by obamacare, can I claim the insanity defense?

Colo. man signs up for his insurance, his dog gets covered instead

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Colorado healthcare exchange has processed applications for thousands of people … and one dog.

Shane Smith, of Fort Collins, says his dog Baxter received a letter informing him that a health insurance account had been opened in his name through Connect for Health Colorado.

“I thought, ‘Wow, this is so awesome,’” Smith said with a laugh. “They have gone out of their way to insure my 14-year-old Yorkie.”

Smith had called Connect for Health Colorado to sign himself up for insurance because his old plan was cancelled due to Obamacare.

"Thousands of people … and one dog."

Mainly I just posted this for the amusement factor. Most of us are already aware of how dismal the obamacare roll-out / fiasco really is.

(Plus I don't think I can take much more of this.)

title is wrong...his dog didn't actually get healthcare, and if he did the owner is committing fraud...but why let reality get in the way of a right-wing opinion

Um, no.. Everyone (including their dog) understands that the dog wouldn't really get coverage, but that it was OFFERED to the dog in the mail.

Do you get the humor now? or maybe I can get your mommy to explain it to you?

Wouldn't want a light spirited article to get in the way of your negativity.

I'm not right-wing, more of a libertarian/anarchist if it matters.

“I thought, ‘Wow, this is so awesome,’” Smith said with a laugh. “They have gone out of their way to insure my 14-year-old Yorkie.”

Just following the story and what the guy said. I don't have a lot of faith in government statements or excuses.

“There was some kind of code or something, so I gave them my dog’s name,” Smith said. “They must have just put it in the wrong slot or something.”

So now we get "Obow-wow care"

Title is correct. he didn't sign his dog up, the Obamacare clowns did. But why let reading the OP get in the way of erroneously correcting someone?

You are, from my recollection, better than this. Now live up to it.

Hey, I have a 10 year old local mutt, Baby and a three year old Welsh Corgie, Lucky. Can I get coverage for my dogs too? Do you have to live in the US to get Obamacare for your dogs or can they just get signed up?

Love stories like this, mistakes do happen and when they are like this one, it gives us a good laugh and a smile for the day.

And don't forget to contribute to the Obama (continuing) campaign fund, he takes money from anyone, anywhere.

Sorry no giraffes but we do have pandas and monkeys, will they do? I heard it confidentiality from one of the pandas that Obama doesn't keep his promises and is rather untruthful so he advises not to help him with any funding.

Well, if birth control is to be covered, why not neutering as well?

And you know with the added expense American dogs will now have to get jobs. I hired this one recently, but he quit after a disagreement about dental.

(posted this on a later thread, putting it here too so you can be on the lookout for the dog if he tries to get employment or insurance from your company, he's only in it for the dental. Tarter control is important to his species.)

Was wondering just how they managed to get the dogs name
in the first place?

Talk about incompetence on the part of the folks at the ACA.

He said that when they asked him to give then a password or authentication word while he was on the phone with them he gave his dogs name. Simple error I guess, sort of, maybe...

We'll keep our eyes pealed for the crafty canine, no worries. Frankly I more concerned about the giraffe's and monkeys looking over my shoulder when I try to log in (think they're trying to get my password.)

Well, perhaps this is the Chaos making in the programming of the ACA?
I know I have heard several times read it that the program scrambles
peoples information.

They need to take that website down, it is endangering Americans
personal information, willfully.
