Regarding the geometric shapes, I was actually surprised to find that they indeed WERE linked. Or rather, it wouldn't be very surprising if they were, scientifically. We are all humans, hardwired in similar ways, no matter where we're from.

Much of the similar patterns and themes are tools of the trade handed down and around the world. One can find much of this in the very early cylinder seals and other recordings found in the Summer region. Naturally not all rock art has to do with the craft. Some of it was clearly land boundary markings with tribal identification, graffiti left by travelers and explorers, ect ect ect.

If one is looking for the shamanistic indicators in rock art and cave art start with the drawings that contain information of a pornographic nature and then work out from there. Also note the use of the shepard's crook, horned persons or beings, music pipes, snakes, birds, bird headdress and bird heads on human bodies and much more.
