For anyone not acquainted with ThorNews on YouTube, he's this hip, inquisitive creative genius-type who produces informative and entertaining comet videos. In the following video he questions the probability of the comets below, all having widely diverse orbits but entering our solar system at this time.

The 4 Horsemen: Comets ISON ENCKE LINEAR & LOVEJOY & 1000* Incoming extrasolar Comets

C 2012 S1 ISON......................10,000 year orbit
2P Enke ....................................3.3 periodic orbit
C2012 X! (LINEAR)...................1,883 year orbit
C2012 Lovejoy.......................10,715 year orbit
C2013 V3 Nevski....................Orbit so large it is yet to be determined
C2012 Y1 (LINEAR)......................233 year orbit
C2012 L3 (LINEAR)....................6,016 year orbit
C2012 L2 (LINEAR)...................13,411 year orbit
C2012 V2 (LINEAR)...................14,595 year orbit
C2012 L1 (LINEAR)....................21,000 year orbit
C2012 K5 (LINEAR)....................21,541 year orbit
C2012 A2 (LINEAR)....................30,087 year orbit

Is it Armageddon, or could we be seeing the Asteroid Card being played ?

Apart from the obviously doomporn, is this true? I mean is it really that rare to see so many comet's passing by at once?

Even though in universe years 30.000 years is a blink lol.

amazing, that so many otherwise intelligent people are, when considering the possibility of a comet stricking the earth are indulging in the irrationality of "whistling past the grave yard" :shk:

If ISON turned out to be a male, does this mean that Earth is going to be raped?

Probably not. Now that there is a major effort to discover Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs), there are a lot more wide field telescopes looking for moving objects, which means more and more comets are being detected automatically. The past couple of years have, in effect, been establishing the baseline.

I have no doubt the day is coming when earth will be struck by a large comet or asteroid. I also have no doubt, if we're still here when that day comes, and the worlds governments have prior knowledge of an impending strike, we will see a barrage of conflicting reports, and probably won't know the real truth until it's too late anyway.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see a government shutdown, or some other grandiose reason, all of our "leaders" simply disappear into their DUMBS to ride it out. They might even create a catastrophe, or start a war, just to distract everyone. Yeah I know. That's all crazy talk. Right? Damn conspiracy theorists.

Ty for the response, If I may, the guy claims that since recent NASA hasn't been able to confirm where the comets came from, he makes it sound like its really strange, also false or somewhere in the middle?

I've been a fan of Thornews for a while now. Doom Porn with sarcasm and humor. He has a strong knowledge of what he is talking about, but even he doesn't take himself seriously.

As far as all the comets I think it's about time I get up early, look to the east and find me a dirty snowball or two. Thanks for bringing Thor to ATS!

With all the newly discovered comets this year I'm perplexed as to why the Space Fence was shut down in September in order to save a measly 14M a year. I mean, it's all play money anyway, right?

September 03, 2013. The Space Fence — also known by its formal name, the Air Force Space Surveillance System consists of three transmitters and six receivers that stretch across the southern U.S., using radio waves to paint a picture of a slice of space. The items it detected ranged from satellites and debris to meteors.

"The final satellite I captured an RF reflection from was the Meteor Priroda," says Mike Coletta of SatWatch, "which went over the transmitter site at approx 0000 hrs UTC [on Sept. 1], and there have been no more reflections since that time."

Shutting down the system will save around $14 million annually, the Air Force Command said the last month. The agency hopes to install a new version of the fence using technology that it says will be more accurate.

News of a pending shutdown came last month after an Air Force memo came to light. That led to criticism from experts who say the fence should not be shut down before a new system is in place.

Under current projections, a new U.S. space fence system is expected to be operational in 2017. According to military contractor, Lockheed Martin, the new system will be built in the Marshall Islands at an estimated price of $1.9 billion over seven years.

Well Yea it is true but you have to remember we have just become sky aware. By that I mean being able to actually see and track space objects such as asteroids and comets. But, and it is a really big but, reality is we have no idea how many are out there and we don't even attempt to find and track the small stuff. Ask the Russians how that is working out for us.

Here is an old link to some of the search programs search programs

In may i think it was nasa was supposed to turn wise back on and task it to look for inbound objects. It should be obvious to everyone after the object that hit Russia we are not doing enough to find and track all objects we find in space. Use some of the NSA computer power for good for a change.

Thanks for that I was trying to find link on that too. I think they no something is coming and with the fence up they would not be able to hide it. That is the best reason I can think of. I mean why else stop a program we know works and could help us with this problem. We are seeing history in our lifetime. How many now, it is five or six comets right. Now what about all the little and not so little rocks and asteroids sent flying when these things came through the asteroid belt.

I think that is what hit Russia, but it's only my opinion.

The fence was super cheap in comparison to other technology and programs, it should be turned back on.

Nah, I'm sure there are always that many comets inbound. Nothing to get one's knickers in a bunch about or pay attention to.
