US counterinsurgency fails

Looks like the US counterinsurgency doctrine of 'overwhelming force' is failing in Iraq as it did everywhere else it was used (f.ex. vietnam).

How come every post you make is a cut and paste from the articles you link to? There is not a word in you post that is yours. The bad thing is you try and pass it off like it IS you wording through lack of mention that you quoted from the article.

Anyway, all I can say about the civillians is they were told to leave long before the fighting broke out. Now, I do not support the war in Iraq, but I DO support my troops. Its just plain ignorance to blame them for doing thier job. If you want to blame someone, blame thier boss, Mr George Bush.

I don't support the war - not for ideological reasons, but for the way it has been conducted. From the beginning it has been sloppy, inept, and poorly planned. People should quit blaming civillians, and start blaming the people who put this whole farce into action.

They pretend to surrender, then end up killing others by dirty surprise. If that is the type of warfare they institute, then one must fight fire with fire.

We turned French and German cities into ruble during WWII. We also helped rebuild them.

Are you kidding me? You are actually knocking the Allied forces actions in WWII? You just lost 100% of any remaining credit that anybody may have still had for you. I am actually glad you just posted that statement, it totally puts you into a special new catergory of people that I dont pay antention to no matter what you say.

You are now like one of those people that just keep talking even though people arent even looking at you let alone listening to you. You are creditless now.

You apparently don't want to understand : Men aged 15-55 were REFUSED to leave the city by US Forces.

Then tell me what great military purpose the levelling of german cities was intended for ?

They were destroyed out of pure whim, not really by the americans, but more by the brits.

I don't insinuate that. The war in France was rather clean (despite numerous human rights infringements during german occupation), as opposed to the soviet-german part of the war which was really 'dirty'.

What the Marines are doing in Falluja and elsewhere conforms more to that soviet-german type of behaviour.

The germans were fighting against the Bolchevists, much like the US is fighting against Satan.

What counter-insurgency? What civilian group is the US backing in iraq as a counter insurgency? And overwhelming force is what was used in gulf one, not this iraq war. They specifically and purposefully used what they thought was the minimum of troops to topple hussein. Seemed to have worked. Doesn't seem to be working as well as it should for fighting the insurgency tho.

The Brits were bombed ENDLESSLY by the Germans in WWII. They had black out and constant air raids daily. And these were the cities!! Not military bases or air fields, but houses and shops and buildings with 100's people in them!! It scares me that you even analyze what the motives may or may not have been for the Allies to bomb Germany back. You have no clue. I cant believe I am even responding to you over your nonsense.

The German air raids over britain killed at most 100.000 civilians while the bombing of german cities killed more than 2 million german civilians. Over twentyfold vengeance. But let's get back on topic.
