I think every member should be given the option to erase his exsistence from ATS.

Given the nature of this site i feel there should be an option given to members that completely removes all traces in one step. Why is this not an option? What is the real reason? What does it matter to the owners of ATS if one member out of millions no longer wishes to be a part of the community.

Hell the owners could even make a profit if they wanted in the process, charge a 10 dollar fee to have yourself excised from ATS history. I'm in no rush to expunge myself from the boards but it baffles me that its not even an option.

Ive never fully understood why they dont give this as an option.

Simply put. If every member who left ATS had their whole history expunged, imagine what old threads would look like. Swiss cheese. There would be so many holes in those threads, they would make little sense.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, when we sign up, we agree that ALL content belongs to The Above Network, once it's posted.

I guess a lot of threads but become pretty incoherent if posts would just disappear because somebody deleted their entire profile.

Every member had the option to not join ATS, that should be enough.

Peace

I don't care one bit if threads look like Swiss cheese. Having the ability to remove yourself from the internet should be a God given right. It is easier to remove your presence from Face# than it is to remove you from ATS.

I have always wondered about how stupid it was to join ATS..........

Don't post regretful posts.

Don't post inebriated.

Do have fun with the site. If you are wrong, but think you posted otherwise...go with it. Who really cares?

People here think some crazy stuff - you'll fit in.

...just no Elvis posts.

System purge.
Reload OS
Done.
Don't log into ATS again with complaints.

Its not about posting regrettable things, or posting while inebriated. Its about a simple choice to no longer be a member and have yourself removed entirely from the website. I can do this with FB-Reddit-Stumble-Twitter, but not on a site that is heavily reliant on conspiracy topics and conversations about politicalsocialgovernmental dissent?

Forgive my curiosity, but I have a couple of questions.

Who is the "You" that you are removing? Some entity named "Mamatus?" You might type using the name Mamatus, but that name isn't on your mailbox, tax return, police files, or anywhere else. It almost seems that you're confusing Mamatus with you, John Jones of Bigville, Smallstate, US. I don't happen to see the problem.

I have always wondered about how stupid it was to join ATS..........
Well, how stupid was it for you to join ATS? Really, incredibly, certifiably insane, stupid, or something a little more reasonably stupid? Of course, the fact that you've joined is a matter of historical record, so what are you going to do about it now? Walk away? Keep posting? Would you believe there are people who don't think it was stupid?

I'm probably misunderstanding you, but you've left me a little confused.

I dunno. I was reading about all the pervo whack jobs who want unisex restrooms in California.

California. A place where even going to the bathroom is no different than slurping juices, backstage, with Led Zeppelin!

TWENTY TIMES...TWENTY TIMES...TWENTY TIMES...

oops, sorry.

Then, just when I was thinking about relocating, I went to double check, but the entire thread had been expunged. And I was really enjoying the OP's righteous perspective.

A lot of this guy's contributions are permanently erased from ATS though. Dunno why.

Maybe he knows a secret? I kind of expect to see 'moderator' emblazoned on his avatar, one of these daze....

You want to be erased? Three little words.

Just mention 'sandy hook conspiracy'.

I hear what your saying but God doesn't own ATS so it isn't a right. They will never share your real identity so it's protected in that way. I've posted some seriously stupid stuff but I know it's all fine since I won't be putting my screen name down on any job apps. By the way - can we change our screen names?

Why would anyone want to? You did accept the terms and conditions didn't you? For those talking about facebook you can deactivate but your never really gone.

Then why the erase??

This ain't FB, Reedit, Stumble, Twitter..... Are you new here?

Not like you added you family and friends here right? No like you linked your LinkedIn acct here right? Really, are you new here??

This isn't some MSM site like those....

If you don't want to belong - then leave. NO ONE will care otherwise.

Or...post something about Elvis - the admins will do the rest..

Really?

The ultimate answer is, no one should need some sort of legitimate reason... It should just be an option no matter what no matter where and for whatever reason you see fit.

I understand what you are saying, but the Internet doesn't work that, like I said you can deactivate your Facebook profile but it's still there. Once you post it's there forever.

You're wrong. Ive run a script on fb that deleted EVERYTHING, likes, groups, photos, comments, tags, status's everything. And if i wanted to take that a step further i could deactivate my account and then after 30 days would be completely removed from the site all together. Meaning no one but people who work for fb would have access to my old material which is undoubtedly stored somewhere within their systems.

I deactivated my Facebook, checked two years later and it was still there all I had to do was sign in. All the way back to 2009. It never really disappears. Lucky you.

There's a difference between deactivating your account and deleting your account completely, i suggest you look into it if you are interested in getting rid of it.
