Well if you look up.. "Tor (short for “the onion router”) network", you will find it has been around for a long time & is used by many people who need a safe means of keeping their information safe. People who make online business transactions. People who want to be able to securely send Private information, People who handle large Accounts, ect.

It so happens that Websites also make themselves available only by using the Tor Browser. They do it because it really is that secure in the sense of not tracking your I.P address.

So yes there are Dark Corners of the internet. but don't blame Tor Browser.

Are you blaming Google Chrome Browser for allowing you to become victim of the Patriot Act? Or do you blame the government who made Google turn over and comply to spying on it's own citizens?

Also their is the same, if not more illegal & shady # happening in non secure browsers, Like Chrome, Fire Fox, ect.

Don't let them make the case for taken away any Privacy outlets on the internet by using some Stupid website that caters to Creeps & happens to use the Tor Browser to access it

I have often thought that this could be the best way to legally ' off ' someone , set them up as they have viewed or recorded child porn and leave the rest up to vigilante's

its actually been done before.
upload a hidden file full of cp onto someones workspace, then report them to the cops.

i read a story once about a guy that got busted with thousands of cp pix. he lost everything, wife, kids, job, everything. name dragged through the mud in the media. turns out he was the victim of a bot-net attack. his computer got infected with a bot that pulled the images when he wasnt using the computer. he was completely innocent, yet let him try to find a job now.

as for tor and the deep net, they have been waging war there for years against cp. groups like anon hang out there and attack the cp sites all the time. this is just a set back for cp, as nothing will ever stop it.

While tor sounds like a nice privacy add on (don't feel I need it but I can see why most don't want their locations traced), any detective can download this too. Therefore they can play along and catch these creeps. The fact that this exists provides them more access to catch these guys (and gals), and recover abused, abducted, and exploited children. So even if they can't trace, they have an abundance of new leads to follow at any given time.

Taking away this privacy would mean those who exploit children go more deeply underground. Do they want to make it go away so people can pretend it doesn't exist, or so they don't have so much work to do? Or do they want every chance to weed these people out of societies? If the later, I say leave it alone and beef up the creativity for catching them. Take away the privacy you catch them all at once (if international laws don't get in the way; they don't escape first, and you have the manpower). After that they go elsewhere to practice their crimes - and they will.

Of course they want to make it go away.


Just look at the overly emotional responses from people on this thread. You say kiddie porn, and people bring out the torches before even thinking.

In 90% of cases anything related to that topic posted online is far removed from its source. Thinking that taking down things like TOR websites that host this crap will solve this problem is like thinking becoming a vegetarian will even save a single cow from the slaughter house.

Silk road and TOR is being targeted due to the international bankers trying to bring Bitcoin under their umbrella of control.

Think.... silk road 1.0 etc was around for 7 years or more (probably more) and it was only targeted after a few Camen island bitcoin deals went south and the originators of bitcoin started having issues with the US govt.

The kiddie porn lines are tagged in to qwell and detract people from the real cause.

The situation is more like, hey I just shot a guy that was trying to rape your daughter, while I was robbing your house and burning it down. Sure, you appreciate the action, and the end may justify the means, but is anyone actualy safer or the world a better place?

Here you have a network that is out of the control of the major corporations... a true anonymous free web. A network where real freedom is expressed.

Don't you think a plot to take such a network offline would include discrediting and making it less palatable to the masses? Child porn busts would be the perfect story to lead with in any attempt to prevent normal people from having anything to do with TOR.

I'm against child molestation as much as any sane person would be, I have three kids myself... But something doesn't sit right about this story.

I am sure all the people convicted of sex crimes have their alphabet agency cards also.. The US Govt is horrible and in certain areas very corrupt, we are 100% on the same page there. If you think they are the only source of something as horrible as CP then you are blind to the reality of the world.

Did it ever occur to you those hitman ads may be run by the FBI? They've run other services on the dark web which they admitted, saying they were using them to try to catch criminals. The FBI even ran some illegal services on the regular internet, until someone saw it and notified the ISP which shut down the site the FBI was using. Not all the illegal stuff you see on the regular internet is run by criminals and apparently not on the deep web either. Some people think the new silk road might be run by the FBI. I have no idea if that's true but I wouldn't rule it out.

For once I'm glad that I'm pretty lazy when it comes to looking into new Internet option for keeping my data traffic confidential. I was always going to finally get around to downloading TOR and seeing what it has to offer the average person who just plain doesn't want their web activities under corporate scrutiny, but I've been really busy. I guess I'll hang back and see what the next generation of masking technology has to offer. Obviously, this solution would've lumped me in with some seriously effed up folks if I'd used it.

This continues to be a world that does what it can to divide us all into being either predator or prey, regardless of how hard we to strive to opt out of the program altogether.
