Well, COD: GHOSTS is here. This past weekend was the first since release and a double XP weekend. The reviews are mixed, well actually not mixed, very poor so far from hardcore COD/MW fans as far as the multi-player goes.

I'm not a great player. I think my best KD in any of these games was 1.6 in MWII. I have about 10 hours in Ghosts and I'm below 1.0 because I've been experimenting with every gun and set up. Usually I do that until I reach max level before prestige then spend a few weeks on max level and get my KD then rinse and repeat.

My observations so far

1) Glitches a lot
2) Dogs way overpowered
3) No Ground War, No Care package kill streak makes me sad
4) SMG's/Dropshotting nerf...which is what I do, game favors AR Camping
5) Cranked Game mode is the best game mode they've ever created, even better then Kill Confirmed and Domination because it discourages camping. The audio at the beginning is hilarious too. "KILL KILL, WHATCHA GONNA KILL, GOT TO KEEP KILLING TO KEEP CRANKED!!"

I'm still trying to find the best SMG and setup right now, but once I figure it out I'll post here. Tips/Tricks/Advice/Discussion/Reviews....GO GO GO

I've noticed quite a few glitches, I also don't like the map sizes, they seem to be too big.. Also, attempting to navigate through the perks/kill steaks doesn't seem as "clean" as past years... I also purchased Battlefield 4 and I honestly like the multiplayer of that game more.

Also, the last COD had better maps like Hijacked and Nuketown 2025, maps that are small and fun like that are always a great time

Stonehaven is unplayable. Whiteout isn't much better. Much too big, especially because there is no Ground War game mode.

I really like Siege and Prison break.

As always, Spawn system is broken, I can't count the amount of times I spawn, take two steps and get shot from behind...

2) Dogs way overpowered

That's because he's a Ghost ...

I can't comment on the multiplayer as I haven't bought a COD game for years but it seems that multiplayer in games starts off buggy then gets patched to completion , consider it an open Beta .

Have you started Campaign yet? I haven't, I wonder if it's any good... I will likely start it tonight or tomorrow...

Also, what are your thoughts on the 2 new features this year, Extinction and Squad?

I haven't gotten into the campaign, extinction or squad. I'm a little confused on the Squad thing and why anybody would unlock new characters...is that in lieu of prestiging? I basically just fired up the multi player and started going. I'll probably do the campaign over Thanksgiving break since I have a few days off. Can you explain what the extinction and squad features are about?

Oh and I did play Infected for a little while, it's really fun. Zombie's throwing knives and one with a gun...unfortunately again the maps are too big and at the end you just run around trying to find one guy hiding..lol.

For Extinction:

Extinction is a game mode featured in Call of Duty: Ghosts. The gamemode features up to four players fighting aliens in a post-apocalyptic world. Players have objectives, which are to destroy alien hives & complete Challenges. Players also earn money by killing aliens, killing aliens with traps, destroying barrier Hives or searching Search Piles. The money earned from these can be used to purchase additional guns placed through out the map (similar to Zombies) and use abilities selected pregame.

The traps that can be used against the aliens are the electrical fence and fire trap. The traps cost money to set and only last for a short period of time. You can set the traps an infinite amount of times considering you have enough money to keep resetting them.

There are four classes for the player to choose from, Weapon Specialist, Tank, Engineer, and Medic. For each class there is a specific set of unique abilities/perks that you be able to utilize for yourself or your team. There is also loadout slots that every class can choose different options from including: Pistol, Ammo Type, Team Support, Strike Package & Equalizer. Once the player reaches level thirty, they will automatically prestige, allowing them to equip an additional Relic once per prestige. The mode is not infinite round based like Zombies but has an ending and is much more linear, although the ending is optional.

God I was disappointed with Ghosts. I am struggling to find any good points, honestly! Granted I haven't played the single player but let's be honest, that's not the main draw of the series- It's the multiplayer.

So what we have are terrible maps (Locations are boring, textures bland, spawn points few, layout of maps is linear, very dull in general), Weapon unlock system is like a bastardised version of the Black Ops 2 token system, but infinitely worse meaning there's little drive to progress through the weapons and unlock everything as you can just get any attachment whenever you want it, Extinction mode... I'm not even going to go there... but it's baaaaad. I dunno, all in all I am rather displeased with Ghosts, I genuinely thought Infinity Ward were the main players in the COD franchise and I thought this was gonna be a biggy but things must be changing.

Now all Treyarch need to do is make Zombies it's own game then I can happily leave this COD behind, tis' but a Ghost to me ;'(

Squads is different:

WARGAME
In Wargame, you can play on your own or cooperatively with up to 5 friends against an opposing squad of bots. Game modes will vary from Team Deathmatch to Domination to Search & Rescue, giving you the opportunity to hone your skills and strategies for different game modes and maps – the ideal training ground for online Multiplayer

SQUAD V SQUAD
Equip your squad and head into battle against another human player and their squad. Squad v. Squad matches you up against another player of similar skill level and rank in a game of Domination, Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed or Blitz. Level up your soldiers and create the ultimate squad to ensure victory.

SQUAD ASSAULT
In Squad Assault, you can invite up to 5 friends to play cooperatively as your created squad members, taking on another player's AI-controlled squad. Test your squad's skills against another player's customized team of soldiers across a variety of game modes.

SAFEGUARD
Play cooperatively in a group of up to four soldiers taking on waves of enemy combatants. You start with a very basic load out and a friendly AI squad member that you can call in for support, and throughout the game, support drops arrive containing various weapons, perks and kill streaks to help you defeat the enemy onslaught. As each wave passes, the difficulty level increases, with 20 waves in a standard match, 40 waves in "Safeguard Extended" and unlimited waves in "Safeguard Infinite" - see how long you can survive.

TY for the explanation J, I may try the squad thing once I figure out my sweet spot in the regular multiplayer.

I think COD has more noob cheaters than any other game in history (on the pc version at least). For this reason i vowed never to buy it again.

I like maps with lots of players on it but in past titles the ground warfare had the most amount of cheaters on it.

Ive never really agreed with all the air strikes , helicopters missile strikes etc. On maps that are so small it just means if there is one or 2 players that are really good (or cheating) everyone else is dying every few seconds from all the airstrike like attacks. In moderation they wouldnt be so bad but as it is it just creates a huge imbalance and i think this is what drives people to look for cheats.

The franchise was enjoyable right up to (and maybe including) MW2 then it rapidly went downhill.

Im loving Battlefield 4 multiplayer right now, its like a breath of fresh air.

i love the calls the characters automatically make in multiplayer to you.

"there is an enemy in the broken window!"
"there is an enemy in the hole in the wall!"
"there is an enemy near the car!"

*bisman looks around the entire destroyed city map*

...

also, i play on pc. because i am an adult who plays his video games the proper way.

Agreed I got as far as MW1 before the boredom set in , I still have fond memories of the original Call of Duty on PC though ... that was a great game

whats your gamertag on there? I'll add you to my friends
WARNING: I'm as noobish as you can get, I average more deaths then kills, only a level 18 on COD and level 14 on MW

Ever watch the Humiliation rage videos? Those are funny as hell

I haven't picked it up yet. I think the novelty is wearing off and I'm looking forward to the next gen consoles, that doesn't mean I'm gonna rush out and wait in line to pick one up.. even though I used to class myself as a gamer.. Would love to play something like this on the Occulus Rift.

I dunno, as you get older and explore other avenues of mental stimulation you kinda leave stuff like COD behind, or I could still play in short, controlled bursts.

The campaign is absolutely awesome, probably the best to date.
The multiplayer on the other hand, is awful.

I completed the campaign, played around fifteen hours of MP and then sold the game.
Maps, weapons..and game modes suck.

Cranked and Blitz (cap the flag) are great byt NO HQ??? REALLY?
I've played COD since before the first MW but MW was a game changer.
Steadily they've set about making COD worse year after year.
I bought BF3 when that came out and loved it.
BLOPS II was great too but BF3 was far superior.

Have now sold COD: GHOSTS and am waiting for BF4 to arrive as i ordered online.

COD is now done for me, no more. The campaign is fine but we all buy these games for online.
It's just the same game every year, and people just eat it up.
I never bought MW3 and vowed not to bother a few years ago, but Ghosts looked awesome.

Multiplayer sucks.

BF4 has a lot more mileage.
