Speaking french with an English twang sounds terrible and the French really hate it.

I work with a Japanese lady (in England) whos got a lovely combination going, alas that wouldn't work for me being a dude

I think, a slight Scottish accent would be my choice (Sean Connery, Ewan Mcgregor etc) Just sounds smooth and flowing, mines just a plain boring English one.

What about accents you are glad not to have? That would be most harsh regional English for me, so glad im not a scouser or brummy.

Most likely I would choose Russian or Czech.

As for which I accent I prefer to listen to it would be Spanish, if a man. I don't care for French.

Chinese is the worst in my opinion. I don't like the Deep South of the states accents with y'all. Don't like Jamaican.

Bonjour mblah! Comment vas-tu aujourd'hui? mdr

I don't need no stinking accent, I'm French speaking! But I love to imitate all types of accent... hmm... Russian and German's ones are nice to do.

Doesn't matter which accent you choose for yourself- you won't hear it.

Now if I could find some one I like (and likes me in return) whom has a Scottish or Danish accent...yes please! Men with those accents have my attention 100%!

Well a couple of years ago, for Halloween I dressed as a Russian spy, with trench coat, accent and all.
I think there is something mysterious about the Russian language, da?

But I will have to agree with most people here, I would choose the French accent.
It's full of melody, very pleasing to the ears, and kind of soft.

Plus I'm a sucker for it when a tall, dark and handsome French man speaks English. He could be asking me how much those sack of potatoes cost. I don't care, it still comes out sounding romantic.

I would like to have the accent of someone that wears a monacle, whatever that accent is.

Ladies love this Texas twang. So I can't complain.

I'd want a whole repertoire of accents really for different effects.

I suppose if I could only have one accent I would have to go with that upper class English accent, because it's so dang employable in America. That alone could make a guy an HR director here because to the American mindset that accent represents an unpleasant authority that only our most revered heroes could stand against.

But if I could change to fit the circumstances, I'd also want a real deep drawling Texas accent that makes non-Texans automatically assume that I've got a gun in the truck.

And I'd want an Australian accent so when I get drunk and go too far I appear to be a foreign tourist- I run into my share of them back home and in my experience a drunk local will simply have the police called on him without a word said to him, but a drunk aussie will see an escalation of rudeness until he is eventually ejected, but the police will not be called. I don't think that's written down anywhere as policy, it's just how it seems to work out.

Russian or German would be handy for yelling at people too.
