UTA Flight 772 memorial - Must See!

Decided to post this in the "People" forum because it's a testament to the love that people hold for their lost family members. This isn't a story about terrorists, it's a story about people who wished to create a lasting memorial for the victims of terrorists.

I Noticed This Tiny Thing On Google Maps. When I Zoomed In… Well, Nothing Could Prepare Me.

UTA Flight 772 was a scheduled flight operating from Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo to Paris CDG airport in France.

The flight never made it. All on board perished.

Eighteen years later, families of the victims gathered at the crash site to build a memorial.

Even in the face of this tragedy, the families constructed this beautiful memorial to never forget what happened. They will live on in their hearts, in the desert, and even on Google Earth forever.

You are right, it is an amazing story, and incredibly touching. What a wonderful way to cope with the grief they must have. A labor of love indeed.

I can see it must have come as a shock to just happen upon it while cruising google earth. Very nice find. S&F.

Thanks and no worries... I put it in the wrong forum so it didn't appear in the Recent Posts list. My mistake just means the story won't get the exposure I think it deserves. There's so much bad news and doom porn on ATS I thought it would be cool for others to see this...

There are people who think Libya is just full of terrorist, but it is really full of people that are just like us,they have families, they care about loved ones,they do the same things that we do over here.
Their terrorist are probably just the equivalent of our prison population over here more or less.

I'm sorry I also opened a thread on this when i searched it up it didn't pull anything up.This is amazing I think.I would love to see this from the air.

When it was almost impossible to get to they over came their obstacles and made this for their loved ones it is amazing
