The St.Petersburg Pier was built in 1973. I've noticed the dates on some of the items in "The Box" are labelled in the 1930's. This is a picture of the pier. It is identical to the pictures that are labelled "Tampa Bay Tornado". Is it possible that the drawings were done before the pier was built? I have looked for dates on the "Tornado" pictures, but cannot find any. Anyways here is an aerial view of "The Pier" in Tampa Bay, built in 1973. It was closed to the public on May 31st, 2013 to be destroyed and rebuilt as a completely different design. If those pictures were drawn prior to 1973 or before the blueprints were drawn up of "The Pier", then this person is spot on. I don't have time to read Ezekiel to see if it could possibly reference North America, or the Florida peninsula. Interesting to say the least.

Wow very very interesting, thanks for pointing that out.. that is quite a coincidence or is it?

Yah, wondering about that too.

I'm upping the Anty. Here's a link to the Omni article he references and on page 5 we see the lenticular cloud he discussed in his page of notes.

OMNI January 1979

Edit: In letters to the editor (yesteryears Internetless forum), Jim Oberg is discussed…

I believe it is the same Oberg we have here at ATS. Maybe someone looking for more data could PM him for his take on all of this.

box of HOAX

font on first few pages is too modern to fit with rest of material

What's the Hoax then ?
I don't think a box of personal papers can be labeled a hoax.
It exists as an actual box of papers.

This is the coolest thing i've ever seen!

I would love to have found something like this. It would have been a gold mine for me!

Whoever made the stuff in this box had an experience or has an active imagination and is very talented with their art work.

I will definitely be following this thread and anything on the net about this. Very interesting indeed!

Thanks for sharing this nice little gem!

I saw this the other day. Apparently they've already traced who the guy was, and he died in 1997 or something. Very neat looking sketches, quite a mix for sure!

I have seen sketches like this before. They belonged to a relative of mine who suffered from schizophrenia.

Most likely the same cause for these drawings.

I thought all true artists were tortured souls. No?

I don't mean those who work in abstract. I mean those that reproduce reality with such ease and accuracy. It is a rare skill. They are "driven".

Can anyone read the text on this page?
The Box of Crazy part deux

edit on 4-11-2013 by Digital_Reality because: Link

I found these pictures.. If they are from the crazy box, then I dont understand.
I think you all know what this picture wants to tell...

This drawing style does not match the other. But well, I guess an artist has a lot of different things they want to draw and tell. There are also other pictures that seems like childish drawings, in the gallery. Maybe he kept some of his early drawings?

Btw, this is so awesome.

Yeah he made a good job covering that fact up, when you think that most of the papers are dated.
jumping to conclutions without reading the post is just LAME.

Box by appearance and description is a typical artist box. I have one very similar. It has my drawing pencils, pastel chalks, and some oil and brushes. The exterior is very smooth and convenient as a drawing table.
All in all, the contents are very interesting.

Some of those are quite good drafting skills of the earth, reminds me of some of the stuff my fathers done. My father was a master draftsman and done aerial survey map making.

This man may have also done drafting and mechanics engineering in the Army. Some of them look like he cut them out to make a 3d paper model of sorts. The picture of the pier with the upside down triangle is stunningly Similar. Maybe he helped design it?

I know, isn't is amazing how they are able to see these incredible and absolutely real things that the rest of us can't?

Why do people always have to bring the bible into everything? It's kinda annoying. To each their own I guess.

He's not "bringing" the Bible into anything. The Bible was already brought into it by the person who created the images. Or perhaps you did not notice the multiple references to Jesus? You can type, so I assume you are also able to read?

Just a coincidence, but l had read this thread, and then some hours later flicking through what was on TV, and the Nicholas Cage film knowing was on, and nearing the end. They had entered an old house in the woods, and this exact illustration was on the wall.

This type of art is called "Outsider Art"

Just do a quick web search and you'll find a number of artists who have these awesome illustrations and paintings.

This doesn't look like someone is just doodling for the sake of art. This look likes someone has generally thought this through and put it down on paper for a reason I'd like to know.
