...j. Doomsday thinking
Extremists often predict dire or catastrophic consequences from a situation or from a failure to follow a specific course, and they tend to exhibit a kind of crisis- mindedness. It can be a Communist takeover, a Nazi revival, nuclear war, earthquakes, floods, or the wrath of God. Whatever it is, it is just around the corner unless we follow their program and listen to their special insight and wisdom, to which only the truly enlightened have access. For extremists, any setback or defeat is the beginning of the end....
n. Hypersensitivity and vigilance
Extremists perceive hostile innuendo in even casual and innocuous comments, imagine rejection and antagonism concealed in honest disagreement and dissent, and see latent subversion, anti-Semitism, perversion, racism, disloyalty, and so on in innocent gestures and ambiguous behaviors. Although few extremists are actually clinically paranoid, many of them adopt a paranoid style with its attendant projective mechanisms, hostility, and distrust....
D. Extremist Ideologies
1. Introduction
As noted, an ideology is a set of political beliefs about the nature of people and society. People who are committed to an ideology seek not only to persuade but to recruit others to their belief. In U.S. history, there are many examples of extremist ideologies and movements. The colonists who sought to free themselves from British rule....
2. Ideologies
a. Nationalism – The policy of asserting that the interests of one’s own nation are separate from the interests of other nations or the common interest of all nations. Many nationalist groups take it a step further and believe that their national culture and interests are superior to any other national group.
b. Supremacy – The belief that one’s race or ethnicity is superior to all others and should dominate society. Supremacy, as with racial supremacies in general, has frequently resulted in anti-Black and anti-Semitic violence.
c. Separatism – Setting oneself or others apart based on culture, ethnicity, race, or religion.
d. Anarchism – .....protesters wreaking havoc at political conventions and anti-globalization rallies.
e. Religion – Extremist ideology based on intolerance toward other religions....
E. Recruiting Motives
1. Introduction
• The standard hate message has not changed, but it has been packaged differently. Modern extremist groups run the gamut from the politically astute and subtle to the openly violent.
• Nowadays, instead of dressing in sheets or publicly espousing hate messages, many extremists will talk of individual liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place....
So what will the lower ranks learn from this? That one must be a mindless robot willing to do whatever the government tells them to do without any morality involved at all. The military is even encouraging a return to hypersexuality, as long as it is not between the genders but within the genders.
That is more scarey than any scenario in a Terminator movie, where the terminator eventually went with conscience, the current administration is teaching the military to totally abandon conscience and to do whatever they are told regardless of the morality of it.
So thinking cynically is now extremist behavior?
I hope extremism doesn't become the new spook word for terrorism in the near future.

I don't think we will lose but the death toll will be nasty due to the fact that women will play into the combat equation.all that sensitivity training is only aggrivating to combat arms people and it all is pidgeon holed into non essential information when bullets whiz by.
They were not exceptions. According to several studies of the US military funded by the Department of Veteran Affairs, 30% of military women are raped while serving, 71% are sexually assaulted, and 90% are sexually harassed.
The Department of Defense acknowledges the problem, estimating in its 2009 annual report on sexual assault (issued last month) that some 90% of military sexual assaults are never reported.

We'll still come home, not fit in and want to live alone. My command was the 'Moralist " element described as above but true shooters are seldom in high command.
What will cripple us is the fear of guns in the culture that is being institutionalized into the media propaganda funnel(Mine was cold war stuff, kill commies and the like, lies as usual but we USED to trust them)There is something called "Betrayal Trauma" we vets can suffer from. If you actually end up fighting you will see how you are now a monster to some but it is mostly guilt by association. We are dangerous if you attack ,but not in everyday life.
The offensive bit appears to be a socially driven anti Mysoginist (can't spell) culture that is pushing back against the over whelming macho driven history.Unfortunately real history has nasty truths that they are leaving out .
Rape prevalence among women in the U.S. (the percentage of women who experienced rape at least once in their lifetime so far) is in the range of 15%–20%, with different studies agreeing with each other. (National Violence against Women survey, 1995, found 17.6% prevalence rate;[5] a 2007 national study for the Department of Justice on rape found 18% prevalence rate.[6]) According to a March 2013 report from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Statistics, from 1995 to 2010, the estimated annual rate of female rape or sexual assault declined 58%, from 5.0 victimizations per 1,000 females age 12 or older to 2.1 per 1,000. Assaults on young women aged 12-17 declined from 11.3 per 1,000 in 1994-1998 to 4.1 per 1,000 in 2005-2010; assaults on women aged 18-34 also declined over the same period, from 7.0 per 1,000 to 3.7.

Men shave their chests now, they are more plugged into the media, and it favors the METRO maleness .That too will hurt combat aggression.Indeed the phenomenon of the 13% in police Depts seems to be putting scared young men on the streets only to have them flip out ,over react and become ego driven instead of professionally conditioned to duty.

We will lose the next major war, IMO, whatever it is and wherever it is. Not because our soldiers aren't good or don't have heart. We will lose the next war because our soldiers are seen, as you note, as pieces in a grand social experiment.
The Military is there to kill people and break things. Nothing more. Nothing less. ALL Military are the same, world wide. They ought to be used only when attack is ongoing or imminent in a way even an average man can agree with, without questions or explanations in legalese or 10 different forms of double talk.
When they are used though, they are there for those two reasons and to accomplish those two things. Not to play social experiment with.
I just hope we don't lose too many people or anything of our own national soil when we do lose the next one. I fear the loss will be decisive too. It won't be another loss by default like Vietnam or what Iraq has become. I hope I'm wrong.
