This is at least the third attack by Israel into Syria in the last year or so. I doubt this one will "kick off WWIII" anymore than the others did. I doubt this one will even be a blip on the radar, like the others weren't.

One day it will be more than a blip on the radar. I don't think these types of things should happen if there are no acts of war. I hope Syria strikes back.

They know that they can't. After years of fighting their air force is hurting, even to keep planes flying, let alone strike Israel, who is far better trained, and equipped than they are. It would be a slaughter, with almost nothing to show for it but some planes shot down.

I'm going to have to conclude that the MSM decided just to be nearly a day late reporting yesterdays attack.

Since the MSM is saying this -

There was some confusion about the timing of the attack, with some reports saying it happened Wednesday, and others saying Thursday.

CNN

Which is REALLY lame btw, since we all sat here and watched on ATS this come in on the other thread.

More proof the MSM is worthless.

And that is one of the reasons I like ATS so much. There have been quite a few "breaking" news stories that I knew about long before the MSM posted them through this site.

Ahh perhaps...but then again consider a little story the Israelis are quite fond of..what is it called...David and Goliath isn't it?

Agreed. I have witnessed it too, usually the MSM is hours late with things like this..I guess I didn't expect it to be this long though! It's my opinion that this kind of news is the most important kind, it should take priority over all else. Instead the MSM piddles around and causes confusion cause it has to await orders from the bankers etc. Lol, it's funny but super annoying at the same time.

And so far Israel has handed every opponent better equipped than Syria their heads. Syria might get lucky and inflict a little bit of damage, but no matter how you look at it, and whether you like them or not, Israel IS the military power in the region.

It takes time for the spin doctors to work their magic and if the White House didn't get that heads up call from Israel then it would take even longer to vet the story.

Hmmmmmm maybe Obama is still in the dog house and mummy and daddy are fighting.

Pretty much we have been de sensitized to these events. The Media has convinced the Main Stream Assad is Evil and needs to be "removed" just like Saddam Hussein and Gaddafi. The funds, training and weapons to fight this "necessary" battle come from outside the country of Syria.

Just keep down playing and minimizing any events such as this to nurture the whole conquest along as acceptably as possible.

The missile batteries that Israel destroyed are Russian equivalents to the Patriot missiles in Turkey. Imagine for a minute the stink that would raise to high media heaven if the Syrian air force crossed into Turkey and hit some of those?

I guess I should have been more clear. One day one of their bigger allies is going to have enough if Israel hits something that they want. Plus there are much better ways than attacking with an air force, especially against a country that is better equipped militarily than Syria.
It's kind of funny/sad that the US supports Israel blindly even after they attacked a US ship and killed US military personnel.
Imagine if Saudi Arabia did that!? The US would attack Iraq! Wait a min....there must be more to it.

I'm sure lots of the usual people will be bashing Israel, but say what you will, you gotta admire the Israelis Intelligence gathering apparatus. Not much that gets by them.

Agreed.

I would LOVE for the US to release a list of the worldwide "bad guys" from one year to the next. That would be a hoot!!
Probably would make a great drinking game too!

Ever since Israel buzzed Assad's summer palace on the Mediterranean with Jets while he was there, he hasn't responded to anything except with words. Self preservation kicks in at some point.

Oh yes, i do agree they are the best equipped and probably the best trained in the region. But History is littered with recent examples of the enemy underdog, the poorly equipped and trained opposition either creating a stalemate or forcing a retreat, or outright victory over very well trained and equipped opponents, the USA and Vietnam, the Soviets and Afghanistan etc.

I think the Israeli faith in superior military resources, has made them dangerously arrogant in the region.

They ought to refer back to the recent examples i said above, and realize a much safer investment for the preservation of what they are trying to protect with superior arms and random illegal airstrikes, their existence essentially, would be far better served using superior Humanity and a possibly a touch of humility, not armaments.

....thanks to the United States of America.

Not quite sure why you left that out.

They either would have been defeated, or used nukes during the Yom Kippur War. The US interceded on their behalf. The US needs Israel and Israel knows this.

Well that is why they hit the Russian air defense batteries now isn't it? Kind of a game changer for "air superiority". Besides Israel regularly invades Syrian airspace, Lebanese air space and over flies the Mediterranean (while elements of US Navy watch) in order to carry out these missions. Thats some freedom of action isn't it?

The world turns a blind eye to the reality of it. This is from earlier this year.

Edit to add:. Somebody had to take those Russian "Patriots" out and since the US doesn't have a "only we fly zone" established, who better than poor victimized Israel? You bet it was planned, authorized and assisted.

The problem is their "bigger allies" aren't in a position to do it either. Russia has enough problems with their own military right now. Give them a few more years, and they could probably do it, and easily. But realistically right now, they can't.

China has never tried to project any kind of power that far from home, so it would be difficult for them at best, disastrous at worst.
