Very Interesting presentation of this Low Tech Weapon . I am wondering if it could bring down a deer at say , 30 yards or so ?

There is video of them being used to bring down feral pigs. I would say lots and lots of practice before trying it on deer. Same as any weapon system really.

Don't know why a regular bow wouldn't work...

You just miss the point on purpose or what?
Good luck lugging that bow around with you everywhere you go.
This is simply an alternative. Not that difficult to grasp, really.

Best question in the thread.

This is an interesting adaptation of the basic slingshot. The five inch penetration recorded on the featured target, leads me to believe that if one of these were used against a flesh target, there are plenty of bodily regions, where the arrow would penetrate deeper that that, however, some of those would be very difficult to hit using the sling bow mod, as opposed to a good old fashioned bow. Mind you, the advantages offered by a compact item like this are pretty compelling.

Yes, I agree. That was the first time I was shooting it and there is a little learning curve but with practice it could take down something like a deer with a well placed shot. I wouldn't try it unless it was a choice of eating or not. It is what it is though, a weapon that can almost fit in your pocket. Take the good with the bad.

Looks worthwhile and could be used in situations where a bow couldn't. Often the size of bow is what gets in the way if you're in a tight spot or there's branches nearby. I've been shooting wristrockets since I was 10 and have killed plenty of game with it. Not that it's all that terribly accurate using stones though. I'd be sure to have some nice steel or lead balls for consistent shot placement.

Any estimate on what the draw weight might be LT?

Neat item. Thanks for posting it.

25lbs with the bands from Survival Slingshot. They are supposedly working on 50lb bands.

Only police and military should have assault slingshots.
