What could be the largest and most detailed Crop Circle in history this picture is made from 2,000 tonnes of soil and 2,000 tonnes of sand , the portrait is of 6-year-old girl and ploughed into 11 acres of fields .

The picture was created to mark the opening of Belfast's annual arts festival and to my mind looks absolutely stunning ...

I was wondering why it was a portrait of a Hispanic girl until I noticed that the artist is also Hispanic.

Seems like some racial motivation is being played out here.

While it is a great piece of work I don't think its representative of Irelands culture.

I did acknowledge the art but I just thought the ethnicity was not appropriate.

It would be like making a portrait of a pale little white girl outside of Mexico City, just doesn't represent the people or culture of the area.

Especially for a cultural event like this. It seems the artist allowed his personal bias in his creation as opposed to designing something that represents the event more accurately.

It is a beautiful picture.

Just because someone brings up an interesting note does not mean they are making it about a racial issue. That would be on you.

It's an arts festival that is open to many people from many walks of life. Not a Ireland cultural propaganda festival.

The artist did a portrait of what he wanted to do a portrait of. That's what free art allows one to do.

Unfortunately years of watching "epic fails" led me to believe I was entering this thread to see a dead sky diver or something

According to this piece she's an "anonymous Belfast child" so I guess she does represent the people and culture of the area.

Spanning 11 acres of land in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, Wish is the portrait of what those behind the breathtaking work have said is an "anonymous Belfast child".

Kitsch (/ˈkɪtʃ/; loanword from German) is a low-brow style of mass-produced art or design using popular or cultural icons.
Kitsch

Sorry Maghda, try with Versace

No it's not on me at all.
You were the one who seemed annoyed that a non white child might have their face used, or even the fact the artists was non white.
That is ALL on you.

Correct the title of your thread--her face didn't get ploughed into a field. An image of her face got ploughed into a field.

I clicked on expecting to read about how this poor girl was surviving with no face. Glad she's ok.

I can't find anywhere it says that she's a "hispanic" girl (I assume you mean Hispanic in the American sense?) Jorge himself is Cuban of Spanish decent .. he's white.

European capitals are mixed cultural centers, from various different white cultures to other races and nationalities as well. Personally I don't think she looks "Hispanic" in fact, I can't tell what she is because it's a portrait done in sand.
