Lets not forget Goldman, the dude is usually spot on. I still think its no done deal. It seems to smooth, everyone is expecting that they will agree. They have always agreed, right before the deadline. The markets are to calm.

I tried to post on mobile, but the "Reply" link didnt work after typing out the reply (with my big, fat fingers on that tiny little keyboard....real PITA).

The gist of my position: i stated last week that this was all a phony show to keep potential voters engaged. That is all this is about: keeping you focused on the 2 party system in power currently.

How naive do you have to be?

Watching MSNBC now and they're talking as if this is a done deal. Pelosi is attacking the right and quoting George Washington and bring up the budget! This is all so crazy.

If this deal, or ANY deal passes they're only prolonging the inevitable. WE ARE BROKE! You can only rob Peter to pay Paul for so long before Peter comes looking for payback. With nothing to give, you end up with broken limbs... or worse, cement shoes at the bottom of the river swimming with the fishes!

We've been robbed for too long and I think it's time we force our "leaders" to pay up, or make them swim with the fishes!

Thrust me, as a Belgium/European, more parties to choose from doesn't make the system any better, at the end they all go to the same party's and restaurants.

Democracy just doesn't work. you could have 20 different parties to choose from all serving the same companies.

I know this amazing 86 yr old woman who used this analogy; "It's like driving a car with no power steering fluid and no breaks. When the car crashes we blame the driver and together we choose a more qualified, experienced driver for the next run. Damn, what do you know? It crashed again! So again, we collectively choose a new driver with more experience and skill... but to no avail." What we're not seeing is that it isn't really the driver per say that is to blame, it is us for failing to educate ourselves on the car's mechanics thereby not seeing the car's state of disrepair. It is our fault for believing the word of the slimy used car salesman (TPTB) that it worked perfectly fine, even if it may need the occasional tweaking (not twerking, that's another thread) every 2-4 years.

Enough already!! Two parties, three parties, ten parties... it doesn't matter, it just doesn't work, it never has really! Stop trusting the words of the salesmen and educate yourselves! Knowledge is power and we ALL should have learned at least something over the past few weeks! Tear it all down and start again! We seem to have forgotten that We The People have the ultimate authority. Why are we all just sitting here typing our disgust instead of writing, calling and going in person to our "leaders" and demanding CHANGE?!

This is just going to happen again in April, or next October or even before the end of the year!

Your spot on because it is either what you say or the people running the country are morons. I truly feel hopeless today. Not because the government has reopened. That's a plus. But because I know that for all of my hard work I will now be penalized for an insurance plan I cannot afford and do not need to begin with. Those who are self sufficient are going to be forced into poverty one way or another aren't they?

This is no longer the America I was born into. Has felt that way for awhile but it has been solidified for me in this last couple years. It feels hopeless mainly because most people don't see it, (or don't care as it isn't hurting them). If they do take action they are powerkess to stop it. When people try - I get a bit of hope back - but I'm weary - as I see attempts fall on deaf ears.

What will this country look like in 2 years? I seriously want an assessment if anyone has one - or a link?

Not sure why they think this is a done deal. Nothing has changed. Unless they plan on getting rid of the House. For crying out loud the House has taken their demands down to just insisting that congress has to play the Obamacare game sans subsidies like everyone else. Unless this Senate deal agrees to those terms, I don't see why they would think its about over. At this point, I'm afraid if the House gives up, a lot of people are going to explode.

EXACTLY!! This hasn't been voted on yet, the House is out to lunch...literally!! Have they even seen the deal yet?! Maybe everyone thinks it's a done deal simply because there was a little "give" on either side than in previous attempts?!

And yes, people will explode I'm afraid! I think I'll explode!

Ohohohoh, now they're talking about this being "good news" for people in NC.... *sigh*

I see a real danger in the MSM leading people to believe that this has already passed and that the Government is actually ALREADY reopened! People are going to be completely deflated should this deal fall through! I mean seriously, it's an extremely dangerous game when you toy with people's livelihoods!

Could this be on purpose... being done by TPTB's bought and paid for MSM... to insight rioting and protest en mass in order to go ahead with Martial Law?

Just thinking out loud, but something feels very off here, very off!

No, its going to be voted on and passed in the house...

Its pretty obvious.. All politicians are spineless..

Gotta get the debt ceiling raised, you know, keep the system turning...

The house will not break the system, they should, they should make a stand, and explain to the American public in laments terms why, and what for, but it will never happen, the culture in America is non-existent and the spirit that does exist is a ghostly sick and dim one left behind by our forefathers...

Not to mention Americans the Majority of them are young chasing women or men or whatever thinking only about themselves only and could care less about how toxic our system is. The most notice The government may get is some stupid moronic one liner saying thank god for Obama, fixing the problem or something on twitter..

Its pretty damn sad.. Their oblivious...

Until the system changes the debt ceiling has to continue to be lifted.. Or financial collapse ensues, and you know gotta keep the rich, rich and the poor, poor...

if it was a done deal, i think Bonehead would be blasting it all over the news! there still might be a sliver of a chance that they hold the line.

On top of that, if they do pass it, they relinquish their power of the purse to Obama. This bill has a provision in it so now the congress has to vote to “not” increase the debt limit. In other words, the debt ceiling is now automatic if passed.
