Minimum Essential Characteristics
Metabolic Cage System
Specifications for a Metabolic Cage System for the Military Nutrition Division include:
1. Capacity to hold 300-850g large rodent.
2. Feeder chamber on outside, yet small enough to prevent sleeping or nesting.
3. Cage components must be made of PC and PMP4.
4. All components must be easily washed and autoclaved.
5. Must provide a perfect separation of feces and urine to prevent contamination from either.
6. Must catch excess food to prevent contamination of urine and feces.
7. A feeding system that does not disturb the animal.
8. Large cover to keep animal securely in cage.
