I don't know why, but I think this is related to debris from what remains of ISON. They said that the remnants of what's left of ISON are fine, minute particles, but since we don't know the original mass and size of ISON's nucleus, those "minute particles" could have fragments as small as 60 meters and as big as 1 kilometers. Those could do some serious damage if they impact Earth, especially on the oceans!

I'm sure some amateur astronomers from that region are also religious so someone out there will be watching. I'm sure NASA is also watching for larger debris from ISON. Having said that if this were to happen there isn't really much one would be able to do to avoid the destruction minus hopping on a plane.

Why is it always punishment for homosexuality in America ? I have to laugh here as homosexuality has been around for a long time all over the world. As an American, I feel justified in stating that Americans are so self absorbed they don't realize there are other places on earth and most couldn't point out Minnesota on a map.

Love doom and gloom (especially when it fails...which it always seems to) and if I'm not mistaken God did promise never again as far as any kind of flood or earth destruction from his hands so maybe these Hallelujah guys need to do a little more Bible time study.

Those prophecies are likely never to happen imo....but, As I was reading through this thread this
morning, I saw many comments about it being impossible for the Earth to stop spinning, or that we could never survive if it did.

I don't claim to know anything with certainty (because I really don't) but IF it did stop spinning....who on this rock could say with any certainty what will happen since it has NEVER happenned before ( as far as we know of course)?

I am not saying we would survive, but I could not say we wouldn't either...NASA Scientists, although they are the smartest people on the planet, can only make assumptions as there is NO way to test this theory.

It does make perfect sence that we think they are right about all this tho because that is also what we were tought in school.

Just look at how many times they "changed their views" on major discoveries because of a newer discovery...And I have a feeling it will happen more and more as technology is advancing really fast, what we may think is impossible now will soon be obsolete technologies...

I have been checking out the Live Quakes map for quite a few days now, and I notice there has been a constant wave of small magnitude quakes at Puerto Rico every day. OK if this scenario were possible, and the asteroid just happened to hit at the right angle that it could slow the earth to a stop or slow down to where it's movement is near imperceptible for 3 days without also having an impact so powerful it also sterilized the surface of the earth then here is how I see it happening....

It would have to be gradual. The 3 days of darkness (or light if you're on the other side?) would come in the days or weeks after the impact as the earth gradually slowed down... Well the moon would go on nearly unaffected and although it would also slow down a little in its revolutions since the moon and earth have that drag effect on its or it, it could also serve to "restart" the earth spinning again. Tides would obviously be crazy during this time as well.

While tides would likely be the least of our worries it could actually have some severe effects on the world's ecology. The ocean might be the safest place though. I wonder what large body of water is located on the opposite side of the earth from Puerto rico? Anyone with advance knowledge MIGHT be on a big barge or submersible craft or underwater base in that area. Or perhaps a bunker who knows? Space might be the best place but I would think if that were an option, only the chosen few would be able to go, even if that chosen few were in the thousands. That would still leave behind a lot of still fairly rich and powerful people behind. These might be on the Google barge or the Scientology cruise ship near the opposite side of the world from Puerto Rico.

It might at least be prudent for those interested to be on the lookout for activity in the area...
