Pardon a little "mixing it up" - But I am the OP after all. Besides, since nothing I do is ever disjointed or disconnected from anything else I choose to do this video allows the reader to gain a fuller understanding of my original position and the manner in which I present myself as a "whole person" who diligently contributes to the pursuit of truth and to the betterment of ATS as a "whole."

That said: since OpinionatedB seems to be so fascinated by the facts of my preaching abilities I shall accommodate you with but one small example: At the risk, of course, of "mixing things up" as you so prejudicially stated.

In the meantime be it known that a true (might I say Catholic) preacher does not separate, or in any way divorce his political convictions, nor his understanding of the things of the world from his spiritual understanding with respect to the needs of the 'flock' - as in the real "sheep" - Christ's Lambs who are lost and in need of salvation. Remember - you can PM me anytime OK?

While strolling through the Roman Forum one fine spring day between classes at the 'Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas' ('Angelicum') in the heart of Rome I was approached somewhat abruptly by a gentleman with a camera - a protestant fundamentalist. He immediately began to question me on the topic of the Catholic Church's position on 'ecumenism,' which the interviewer didn't seem to quite comprehend. Since the issues surrounding the topic of ecumenism are not usually understood by members of other faiths and congregations, and given the fact that it is sometimes confused or conflated with 'interfaith dialog,' I decided to allow the interview to continue and to make a sincere effort at setting the record straight - in good faith, of course. Then from there we proceeded on to several other aspects of the Catholic faith as well.

Well because quit frankly the allegations of the article are of an alarmist nature.
And I posted a solution to the problem in a prior post.

I don't know if the article writer is or is not versed in how websites are built nor how they are secured.
So I can't really take the article seriously.

Sorry.

Here is some more insight and ideas to ponder....and the way they are tricking you into giving you more information

this is another thread with some go info.

All the wannabe hackers who think they are protected, well, you are not. If the CIA can infect a nuclear base in Iran, do you think they cannot break your security?

Thank you for your sincerity, and your points are rather well taken particularly as regards the issue of how - either the author of the article or its contents might be taken as being 'alarmist.' On hearing that I realized that yes, in fact, that's what I've become, say in the past year or so as things

Alarmist bs.

And it can all be thwarted by using a different password on that website.

No No - the article goes into that aspect of it quite well........please go back to it later with a less jaundiced eye. You are too persistent in your own righteous position - you sound like a fundamentalist
ATS is designed for a broader approach - less strident an/or stringent

Sure whatever.

I only build websites for a living. Spend countless hours reading technical articles and posts. Listen to security experts and so on.

I have no clue what I'm talking about obviously.

Out of curiosity what do you do?

Had you been following the line of intellectual and spiritual reasoning that I have presented to the readership here on this thread you would have had no need to ask such an insolent question. I have no compelling interest to reveal
anything to you other than "what you see is what you get."

My avatar says it all

BTW and just for the general interest of the reader - I have built websites for many years - many years ago, and I have no interest in such rudimentary activity as pertains to the particular subject matter at hand. Building a website really has nothing to do with this discussion, nor does it make anyone an "expert" in telecommunications, or internet spying by government agencies and the like.

Anyone with the equipment, knowledge and software can get into anything. Usually when they see a ASA 5000 or something like that combined with some other software/hardware they either back off or use it as a challenge.

Remember also that making websites does not make you are expert but I am curious as to how you secure them? Do you host them yourself, etc?

Most people, actually, almost all pc users are pretty blind when it comes to this stuff. They think that if they use a pet name and a number they are safe but in the age of social media I can find that and run a few processes that might take a hour or so and get in.

Just like the person who pays for a home alarm and has a big dog and thinks they are peachy keen safe. If I have a shotgun I can kick in your door, shoot the dog and probably you before the cops get there...just something to think about.

Oh Geesh How many layers of tin foil do you want to wrap your head in?
IF they wanted to they already have enough piecemeal information to put together your daily life.
But the key is IF.

Just what do you think they are going to do with this picture of your life?
Unless you are a kiddie kreeper who cares about you and what you do?

Do you really think the government has enough people to scrutanize the daily lives if it's citizens?

Ohhh I bought cat food and bullets at Walmart yesterday. What could it mean? Ohhhhhhh sinister!
I haven't bought toilet paper in over a year! Ohhhh! Someone call the NSA!

obamaKKKare operations alone are responsible for the hiring of at least 150,000 goons to watch over the likes of you and yours. Including IRS kreepers, enforcers, and BHO's hand picked "Guardians," so-called.

Obamacare's legal team recently called for 24,000 additional IRS agents as "enforcers" of the law, and the number keeps growing, because this is just for openers. Some say the key is one of semantics. They say “revenue agents” will not be involved. The "enforcers" will have a different title.

The only thing I see you here peddling is doom and gloom.
You talk about denying ignorance.
Yet you don't talk about how that if any 3 letter agency really wanted your information. There are other ways for them to get it without you knowing.

And with your response I'm going to assume you don't have anything other than an agenda to peddle.

Bring me proof that the Obamacare website is datamining Americans and I will believe your story.
Not conjecture not alarmist theories. Proof.

Nothing is 100% secure. Given enough time and effort anyone can crack anything.

as to how you secure a website. that's a really long conversation.

Sometimes the easiest way to get what you want is let people come to you and not go to them. If you want to create a database of people The three letter agencies can get if they want but why use the resource when it comes to them.

It is also not so much fear mongering as it is awareness. As you stated, you try to protect your sites but I can tell you stories about contracts for the Feds that sensitive info is left in the open by careless people. All it takes it one.

My problem with the source of this whole premise is found in the first lines of the article.

During the enrollment process, your computer also hands over your IP address which is then tied to your social security number.

This IP address is then handed over to the NSA thanks to its new mega-black-hole data center in Utah, where your IP is cross-referenced with all website visits, including:

• "Anti-government" websites
• Porn sites
• Gambling sites
• File sharing sites
• "Terrorism" support sites
• Encryption service sites like Hushmail
• Chat rooms, message boards and more

What they are saying is that your healthcare application data and IP address is automatically, neatly packaged up and shipped off to the NSA to profile you across the Internet. They make this giant leap based on a line in the privacy Policy that says your information can be shared with law enforcement.

...we may share information provided in your application with the appropriate authorities for law enforcement and audit activities.

Like someone else stated earlier... Almost all websites have that in their privacy policy... so they can respond to subpoenas and other law enforcement requests. Not so they can ship all user information to a 3-letter agency.

"Could" this technically be done?... Yes. But if they are doing what the fear article implicates, something based on no evidence or proof, it would be a scandal much larger than the cell phone meta-data fiasco.

Oh yeah... The author of the article apparently doesn't know that the Utah data center isn't even online yet... Not that they'd need a super-mega data center to process and cross reference Obamacare applicants.

I've read all those stories as well.
Most of the times breaches and hacks have occurred it's because of social engineering. The weak point is the user.
Other times it's because of bad code or new exploits.

I'm all for awareness. But let's not spread disinformation that's biased or politically motivated.

Oh and btw. this may all be a moot point.

www.dailymail.co.uk...

EXCLUSIVE: Just 51,000 people completed Obamacare applications during the website's first week, out of tens of millions of Americans in 36 states

out of 300+ million americans just 51K actually enrolled so far.

At this rate obamacare may be dead in the water anyways.
