A woman who has been employed by the McDonald’s Corporation for over 10 years says she was arrested last week after she confronted the company president at a meeting and told him she couldn’t afford to buy shoes or food for her children

She shouted out during the president of USA Mcdonald's speech at the Union League Club of Chicago

It’s really hard for me to feed my two kids and struggle day to day,” she shouted as Stratton was speaking. “Do you think this is fair, that I have to be making $8.25 when I’ve worked for McDonald’s for ten years?”

Then she was approached and told she was going to be arrested for interrupting and trespassing.

They just told me, you know, well, you’re being under arrest because you just interrupted, you trespassed the property. You’re just going to go to jail,”

Ok I think being arrested for this is ridiculous, what exactly is "the freedom od speech"?

They have the right to make her leave and escort her off the property, but I think arresting her is a violation of her rights

That being said if you are still making only $8.25 an hour after ten years at any job, it's your own dam fault.

If you have not become a manager or had a raise after 2 years its time to find another job.

Mcdonald's is a minimum wage job that takes 0 skills, I have seen mentally challenged people working there.

And IMO most of the employees there are overpaid.

Think about it when was the last time you went through a McDonald's drive through and they got your order right and gave you fresh food?

I can't remember the last time

Eh, for me it's Taco Bell.

The Taco Bell near my house is horrible. I basically just throw money at them and they throw some food my way. They also seem to like to make meat-stained tacos.

"Can I have a #4 without tomatoes...oh hell, here $15 just give me whatever you feel like, it's useless..."

I have to disagree. If you live in an area where there ARE no other jobs, and you have 6,000 people apply for a total of 12 jobs at a McDonalds like I used to then no, it's not really your fault because you don't have any other options available to you.
Where I used to live, there wasn't a minimum wage job that gave you more than 10-12 hours a week. It wasn't until I moved that I realized how bad things were there.

She wasn't arrested because she was trespassing or interrupting...

She was arrested because she was a malcontent in a corporate propaganda fest.

Now she will be fired, apply for workmens comp, and maka a lot more than min. wage.

and obviously she got her point across because it has hit the www. and someone even made a thread about it on ATS.

McD will shortly offer an apology because they know that this type of BS will lose them customers. I wouldn't eat that **** if they PAID ME!

Dont blame her for taking a job that pays so low. She should not be in a situation that forces her to choose the lesser of evils. The fake system puts this burden on her back. Perhaps it is her own morals and beliefs that keep her from accepting the corporate world that is forcefed to 'mericans.

It is sad that 1 company can employ so many people and have so much power over them. We need to get back to family, to neighborhoods, to love. "corporations" should not exist... the only reason would be to increase one's profit. Profit means nothing when your neighbors are starving and growing up ignorant.

Mcdonalds is not easy work. If you state the employees are overpaid that means you have never worked there. There are instances of Mcdonalds that have incompetent managers/employees but in many of the busier ones the owners are very strict as to speed etc.

With that being said if you are trespassing on private property and being disorderly it's not uncommon for the police to be called. The same thing would happen if you busted into board meeting at a corporation and started telling the CEO off.

However, if she was invited to attend then at that point she shouldn't have been arrested. To state someone is trespassing if they are invited is a lie. Escorted out sure, but certainly not arrested.

lol at the Mcdonald by my house I saw them put my fries and burgers in bag, set the bag on the counter and tell me it will be 5 minutes on my chicken sandwich then park me.

I was like are you going to just leave the rest of our food in a bag on the counter to get cold while I wait

How hard is it to get fresh food?

The sad part of the situation is most employers see employees as a necessary /slave expense.

I've always maintained the view that if bosses saw their employees as partners in sucsess and didn't grow faster than the whole we would see more equality overall... And that's the kind of loss that would benefit any company in the long haul.

Oh we'll, in the here and now I'm lucky if I can employ me...and I'm inc.

Cheers!

One can only hope.

It's completely absurd that she should work any where for ten years and make that little money. I think wal-mart starts you out at more.

Granted, she should have taken it upon herself to better her wages- but maybe she is just doing the best as she knows how, and hasn't had the opportunity to learn that she can do better (?).

Even poor people with low education and low intelligence can be taught or earn a better pay rate. I'm not thinking of people with an IQ of 25 who make boxes for a living.

Fresh food at Mcdonalds?

Look have you ever served the public in any way? I take it you have had the social and economic background and mental capacity to be able to move up in the world but sometimes people get stuck in a job due to unforeseen circumstances, I can't blame the woman for having a rant, I would also.
Remember not everyone has the capabilities to get a better job but they are human also and If they do a good job (she has kept it for 10 years so she must be doing something good) they deserve a living wage...everyone does.
I sure hope this thread doesn't go viral and they find out your real identity because you will never be able to eat out again without poop, spit or wee in your food.
Never diss people who serve you food.

"They" screw up the order because You went off the grid.. Bun, Burger, Bun. Let us NOT deviate from the script. Bun, Burger, Bun. No pickles actually means "load them up, I like pickles"

I adamantly agree with her in principle about the price of shoes. Those $150 Nike sneakers are pricy.
I haven't been able to buy a pair since I retired. Maybe we'll get Obamasneakers next? You think

Also I work with mentally challenged people (LD and autism) and it is a great thing that they can get jobs, they have the right to do so as much as you and me and just because they are as you say "mentally challenged" that doesn't mean they can not do a decent job.
Here in the UK we have an MP who has downs syndrome. But I forget that most people think they are better than "mentally challenged" folk

She has two kids. What fantasy world do you live in? If the kids aren't in school she probably has to ...I don't know...be a parent to them.

Seems like you are one of those people who probably has had family to fall back on in times of need and might not know what it's like to have to support yourself. Working two jobs with two kids is not possible either from a health standpoint or a childcare standpoint.

I have worked twelve hour days and that is the absolute maximum that a body can take and still maintain health. I also have no children and was completely exhausted from that many hours of work. Again, you must live in a fantasy world of the silver spoon. Who knows though? Maybe you're creating this topic in between washing dishes in the back of a restaurant right before you head to your second job.

Holy crap!
I say "What if there aren't any other jobs?"

and you reply with
"Then get 2"

You clearly live in an msm induced fantasy world.
Go and apply for a job, and when you dont get it ask them how many people applied for it. You'll find that for every job HUNDREDS will apply.

You don't go to McDonalds for food. Period. You go to McDonald's for chemical-laden poison that does not decompose.

After WW3, there will be cockroaches ..... and pristine-looking Mickey D hamburgers.

Wow, I'm shocked at mainly one thing. Since when is "Interrupting" a valid arrestable offense. How can that even be listed as any kind of justification for arresting anyone, even if only part.

Hell if that is the case I need to call the cops more often especially while I am at work. I wonder if I can threaten my boss with that if they come to ask me a question while I am busy.

Lets see, maybe something like this.
"Sorry I can't talk to you right now you are interrupting important work, if you keep it up I will have to call the cops on you and have you arrested."

On yeah I think that would go over great.
