You can unflag, I just flagged, clicked it again, and then refreshed and it went back to 7 from 8

On a related topic, I have a bunch of pre 5/3 stars I bought on eBay that I have absolutely no use for.

If anyone is interested, I'll let them go cheap. And with every dozen purchased, I'll throw in a free retro smiley.

Forget stars and flags.

I only star biting sarcasm and flag threads with the word hysterics, raving, cosmic or possum in the title.

I really want to go back to the good old days when there was an ignore function.
Of course, it was seen as discrimination to actually ignore raving lunatics and career trolls so they took it away.

Now the only thing left from the good old days is Mr. Yuck stickers...er, emoticons.

I wish there was a way to ignore certain people.

It was kind of nice before the almighty s&f function. As with other sites many people post for karma and not content. It has become a Pandora's box of sorts. If there was no reward system in place, maybe there would be less threads, but the quality may rise a bit as well.

I understand the stars are a substitute for me too posts, but I don't recall it being so much a problem that we really needed it fixed. Also, if the thread is popular it will remain visible for new viewers to see, so the flag system is a bit unneeded too.

Now I'm sure there are counter arguments for the stars and flags, but in my humble opinion we would survive without the system.

Ah,
but there was a way. It was a lovely little button called the ignore button or "iggy" for short.
It was like having a can of Raid Troll Spray.
One little squirt, and the troll is gone.

They did away with it though. Some strange little ditty about how even the overbearing and antagonistic had the intellectual right to offend anybody and everybody without recourse and unmolested.

Apparently the goal of denying ignorance also requires one to entertain it.
