The theory of space and time.

Please entertain my Neanderthal mind

Because I myself have a theory. What if you replaced the known math for time with math for speed or what if it time was just "interpreted" as speed. We know a whole lot more about speed than time.

Speed is the distance something travels in a certain amount of time. That amount of time is arbitrary; hours, days, minutes.

Your question really doesn't make any sense. Without time speed is a meaningless concept. There is no "math" for time just as there is no "math" for distance.

DUDE!!! Get back inside that box before the thought police arrive!

I'm a dunce on this stuff, seems interesting, I wonder what our resident experts have to say?

Einsteins theory of relativity is not relative to my reality. I studied that way back in highschool and I never really used that knowledge in real life. If someone wants to use it let them, I remember enough about it to protect myself from looking like a dummy. Parts of the theory have been incorporated in people's life previous to Einsteins writing of this theory. He just wrote it down. Where did he get the idea, from others. Einstein was very observant.

Time does not exist. Man makes time exist, but does it truelly exist?

Phage, you can answer this one...

I'm under the impression "Time does not exist" It's relative to our Earth and how we operate in our galaxy but time on Earth is not relative to Time in other places and spaces in the universe.

That kinda rhymes... Not really... Damn you Dr. Sues!

Time is how we fathom the movement of our planet around our star....

speed is how far a distance something can travel over a period of time eg... 30 miles per hour

distance is the space between one point and another

speed and distance are only relevant in relaltion to a measurement of time.. without time, speed or distance would hold no meaning at all....

Time exists.
If it didn't everything would happen at once.

Thank you for clarifying for my own sake, you and Pheonix explained it well enough~

I am no brilliance personified; however, perhaps I am the spell police. LOL. Physicists.
Before you argue the theory, perhaps it is best to either correct the typo, or spell correctly. Neutrinos, btw, may have something to do with what you're suggesting.
Humbly and respectfully,
Tetra
In other words, other than the spelling of the words, I have no place in this discussion, either way.

I agree time exists. However,(and not to argue with a mind so much finer than my own), but didn't Schroedinger address just this? Is it not really happening all at once? And yet, time does still exist, but perhaps is being hijacked.

Actually I agree with Sulaw's original premise that time does not exist. Ow, ow can't believe I just disagreed with you out here in public.

If you would please explain your statement I'd appreciate it. From what I can tell things (time) happen due to energy application upon certain objects.

Example: Gunpowder exploding hurls particles in direct application to the energy applied to each particle. The particles position within a measured space can be calculated by the energy applied relative to the energy being applied to all other objects within the same space.

Hmm... maybe that didn't make any sense but (to me) time appears to be a man made construct to explain the energy expended upon physical object in the universe.

U dont neee to be a mathmatician to understand the theory. As for speed the equation is distance a given object moves in a specific amount of time. where the object is affected by an equation of mass and gravitational pull. size of the object also affects speed if not in space, because on a planet it is affected by the planets gravitational pull and resistance in gas/wind.

if u remove time in the explanation the equation is useless in its purpose. as the equation itself defines time by mass and movement. given the equation speed affects time. time goes slower as u approach speee of light wich is hard for objects with mass.

no.. scrhrodinger gave an explanation for multiple verses. where every choice gives a possibility. multiverse theory...

u need to stop thinking of time as something unique. its only an explanation we made up to keep track of movement of mass in space over distance. and there is movement because there once was released energy into mass.

There might be math for time itself - for instance if reichenbachs idea that entropy change (always increasing in our experience) creates the apparent directionality by always dissipating energy/strength of interaction (therefore no truly adiabatic real systems or machines). I think we should probably say the math that describes the fundamental nature of time has not been worked out yet. We don't know what 'creates/causes' time.

Wave functions representing universe and all it parts exists everywhere at once- but even they evolve thru time which can change the range of available quantum states WHEN someone cares to take a measurement.

Schrdinger came up with an equation that represents the range of possible outcomes that allows so to logically determine the probabilities. For dice it's simple- the cat is an analogy. For real world a new kind of math was needed- reality is crazy. Many worlds was not explored until I think Everett's PhD thesis. Copenhagen convention certainly rejected it.

Time is 'space' You only know 'time' because You are in a body. No body, no time... Due to the dimensional shift You really don't need to know the math, the numbers as they're written in the sequence. You can now tap into what Einstein, Tesla, DaVinci tapped into to get their inspiration. To wit: It is only "Thursday" because that is what the calendar reads. Exciting times indeed.

P.S. You're not giving YourSelf enough credit, You do KNOW it. "Seek and Ye shall find"
