Yellowstone is closed.
It can't erupt.

There isn't a whole lot of use in running if it does roar back to life sadly. I hope like hades that it isn't working it's way up to blowing. Catastrophic would not even begin to cover the devastation. If we look at it logically, then it could go at any time. We have never seen an eruption and it may just be time for one. It is bound to happen at some point.

The "doomer" in me reads this, sees all the meteors, and reads about Ison, then wonders if maybe that is why government has conveniently decided to shut down. Then the reasonable part of me says that is ludicrous.

At least the immediate area should be pretty empty because of the shut down. Silver lining?

I want to first of all say I agree w/ you. There is alot of stuff going on... We may not know exactly what's going to happen but we do know that if we took each of these Events--- Ison, Dollar Collaspe, YellowStone, Madrid Fault, FEMA+Caskets+Bullets+Food+Water+Antibiotics + Camps + Trains w/ benches and shackles, Corruption of our Government, Lies that led us into invading Countries,Unusual weather, Astroids/Meteors, Fukushima, Assumption Parrish, Janet Napalotino Warning of a cyber attack and a Natural Diaster the likes of which we have never seen before...

These Events add up to "Something Happening" it's no longer a question of "If" this happens... It's now a question of when!

To those that are rude...
The dailymail isn't the only one running the Story... But instead of making wise-ass comments about them why don't you look up the Story and the Science on your own and inform yourself. It's been proven that Yellow Stone does have a Volcano and a super one at that. Do you think it's going to lay dormant forever?? I guess if you believe that, then keep laughing and being rude to the OP because when the SHTF... You'll probably get a bullet in your head trying to steal food if your not killed at time of impact- whatever impact that might be.

People have lost the Art of Listening and Respect. Being humble and kind. It's all about how you look and what you got... You'll step on anyone's thread that you don't feel meets your qualification in education or social circles. You make me sick and I hope when the day comes you'll get exactly what you've dished out... What comes around goes around... Ain't that the truth! "Preach"

At least once a month I see a thread like this proclaiming that the latest 1.86753 earthquake at yellowstone has some significant meaning of imminent disaster.No offense but i`ll believe it when I see the smoke and lava coming out the top of it,until then i`m going to go back to playing call of duty.

Ummmm..yeah. I know you just copied the title from the article so this is not at dig at you OP, but the source.

It is pure sensationalism. There are swarms at Yellowstone all the time. There is constant deformation. There have been absolutely no other indicators that an erruption is even remotely immenent.

If you read the article, there is NO information given to support the title. NONE.

NOW. The ATSr in me would just like to say, that a great way to prevent the public from knowing what was happening in the park would be to....well, CLOSE it.

I think Congress should reconvene at Yellowstone. Preferably on top of a hot spring.

One does have to wonder what is going on down there. The geologists claim to know, but in reality they're just guessing like the rest of us.

Whatever happened to that lava dome under the lake?

Great just what we need, a bunch more hot air to add to the kettle.
Maybe then she really will blow.

That said, If there were any serious indicators of Yellowstone activity change, it would be covered in far greater detail than what has been sourced. Really doesn't seem like it is anything out of the ordinary imo.

I live in Jackson, Wy which is about 60 miles south of Yellowstone. My stepson works in Yellowstone on the North side. No word in papers, radio, gossip about workers there leaving or moving or worrying. Kept quiet? I would be surprised. Word gets out about stuff, especially when workers live here. I am sure a few people are worried, but then at least a few people are worried about everything. Not to say there isn't a potential danger, just that no one seems to be alarmed other than some reporters and some people who's sole focus is noting the changes. Occasionally there are articles in our local papers such as the big lake, Yellowstone Lake, seeming to be tipping with one side higher than the other, but its only been a couple of inches over a large area. And of course, not all volcanoes blowup to their maximum potential, by any means. Just read up on Vesuvius and others. They grumble, roar, blow, but most of the time just let off some steam (and lava and smoke) without getting too radical. Yes, there are Mt St Helens now and then but none of us locals are packing up to leave or taking over radio, newspaper, and tv to get an exodus started.

Could this potential natural disaster be the reason for all the Empty Chinese Cities that were and are being built around the world, now including Africa?

ATS search query

Maybe we'd be offered a place to live in exchange for our souls or something?

Swarms at Yellowstone are ongoing. There are two threads (the EPIC, "What's Going on at Yellowstone"--closing in on 800 pages, and the one True American started weeks ago on the uptick in recent swarms). BOTH of these threads are Yellowstone Seismology 101. If anyone is interested in LEARNING about the geology/seismology read up HERE on ATS 2013 EarthQuake thread, PuterMan, Muzzy, TrueAmerican, Olivine, West Coast (whose "learned specialiaty is the Cascadia) (I don't want to NOT mention anyone. But sadly, I probably am) are so well versed in so many aspects of the mechanics of EQs that you can learn fact from sensational fiction.

Now that I've said all of that, Yellowstone CANNOT blow, the US PARK SERVICE has these nifty, all purposes fences all around EVERY park and open air attraction and the Senate WON'T approve the appropriations for volcanic activity.

It's really shocking how HEAVY and DENSE volcanic ash is.

When Mount Saint Helens went off I was in Southern coastal California and it was in Washington state, but it was surprising how much ash was on everything, our car and street had a thin but solid layer of the stuff. Immediately of course, the swap meet was filled with people who had gathered the stuff into tiny plastic pill vials with neat labels about it being Mount St. Helen's ash -- capitalism warms my heart lol. But even the tiny bottles were so HEAVY!

Never mind the weight if it gets wet, with weather.

A fraction of 10 feet of the stuff would be unthinkable unless you were living underground already.

Trivia: Wiki page on volcanic ash en.wikipedia.org...

Evidently some folks don't feel alive unless they are stabbing those within reach who annoy them.

As though there were not enough fragility to earth and relationships going around already.

Fake or not.
We as a species, for the first time on this planet, has the ability to know before hand of an impending super volcano...With this knowledge, can prepare accordingly with the necessary steps and measures to reduce human casualties, prevent wide spread disaster and divert and deflect the flow of magma towards the ocean.

Yes it's a massive undertaking, but at the cost of saving our nation from natures fury.

We can channel most of all our resources towards this and create back up plans.
The ash will cover the sky, so we build massive indoor farms, perhaps in levels, on very tall buildings.
Water will be an issue, well we build as many desalinization plants on our coast for plenty of drinkable water.

We as a species can now prevent these kinds of things, perhaps this is what we need, a serious wake up call..
TO HELP EACH OTHER, TO NOT JUST ONLY SURVIVE, BUT TO STRIVE ON...AS A NATION! TO SHOW THAT WE ARE COMMITTED, THAT WE WILL NOT JUST SIT IDLY BY AND BE BURNED ALIVE, BUT TO FIGHT THE ELEMENTS WITH A FIERY PASSION, TO TAME HER, TO SHOW HER...THAT WE ARE HERE TO STAY.

Quite bizarrely, this is exactly the thought that occurred to me yesterday. I had seen the details of the massive numbers of empty apartments in China and Africa, and wondered what in the hell they were up to...seems like such a massive waste of resources to keep building like that.....unless they know something we don't...hmmmm?

I recall in 1993 I was utterly convinced that we were about to die from any one of half a dozen real, serious, scientifically validated impending cataclysmic dooms. Apparently only the good die young, because we're still here.

I'm not liking this part...

Mother Shipton or whoever wrote it a long time ago

Yet greater sign there be to see;
As man nears latter century.
Three sleeping mountains gather breath, And spew out mud, ice and death. An earthquake swallow town and town;
In lands as yet to me unknown. And Christian one fights Christian two And nations sigh, yet nothing do. And yellow men great power gain;
From a mighty bear with whom they’ve lain.

The alert levels are still normal on USGS but would the truth really be told if it is a lot worse than it seems?

Ever seen 2012? Their main priority is all "persons of interest". In other words, people who will prove a valuable contribution to the future of this nation. Oh, and people who have the right money and connections.

It's a film.
