Just wow.

And the militarization of the police continues. But why? You know why.

Because things in America are going to get a whole lot worse before they get better. Will they ever get better? Not as long as we have a debt based monetary system and politicians continue to strip us of our rights.

These are just some of the stories I found by doing a simple search.

And while some of the police departments are paying for their tanks, it would seem that many have gotten them for “free” (at the expense of the tax payer). Who knows what kind of back room deals the government has worked out with defense contractors.

One thing is certain, the powers that be WANT the militarization of our police departments.

What exactly is alarming about it?

Are you upset that this new armored vehicle will stop your bullets when your firing at the police?

Well if your actually firing at them then they probably need it.

Other than that I'd say that as technology advances the police will upgrade their equipment as they have throughout history.

When the automobile replaced the horse there were many people that were upset by that also but it was not a precursor to the takeover of the country by LEO.

Well, in some places i think they absolutely need access to such vehicles. The rest is completely over the top and at a huge cost.

The reason for them i think is acceptable is dealing with Mexican cartels and they bullet proof glass, Humvee and other very large 4x4 trucks and such. Loaded to the hilt with grenades, heavy machine guns and god know what else. I know i dont want to be first on the scene with my squad car when one of those is roaming about.

But i guess the cops have used this as an excuse to have lots of them all over the country and that's clearly not necessary.

Yes this is probably nothing more than departments wanting their fancy new toys. We can definitely criticize them for budgetary concerns but I wouldn't go far as to say they are acquiring these to take over the American population.

That's impossible in the first place and in the second, why would they need to?

Open hostility against your populace has never, not once, been effective in the long term.

the future: "you are either one of us or one of them"
us = enraged populace looking for the nearest govt official.
them = every govt underling who has went along for a paycheck.

cops are the redcoats to protect the underlings, oh wait they ARE underlings.

It is because R E D C O A T S are not bullet proof

This pattern of domestic police militarization continues to accelerate and we would be remiss to overlook it.

My home town has had one for 4-5 years at least. I never seen it up close but always figured it was swat, special unit or bomb squad vehicle. I will however look for a upgrade given they keep the current one in plain site downtown and it in the grass would have a lot of grass growing under it.

What is alarming? Gee, let's see......uh, they aren't SOLDIERS maybe?

If they aren't soldiers, why are they gearing up as such?

Rather than provide a link, do a search on "improvised munitions" and download the manual paid for with your taxes, if you'd like.

If it rolls, it can be stopped.

I think I'm at least equally outraged at how (obvious here) the Government is justifying the budgets of new development and production of this stuff. Whose district in Congress benefits? Actually...How many, not who. These things cover many members. Like the M1 Abrams tanks they just keep making, despite the Army asking repeatedly for them to stop. They need to keep making them, in some twisted logic, because it will cost MORE to stop production until the new models in 2017 or 2018 than to just keep producing more and more and more tanks.

There is something like 600-1000 M1 tanks with minor to major issues already sitting in a big storage lot north of Reno. Articles have been written about it, it's so absurd. Yet, the plants keep producing subsystems and the main plants keep producing tanks. Congress people are happy and that's all that matters.

At least these ones aren't parking in a desert bone yard to dry rot in the sun. Cops don't need this crap at the volume they are getting it, but it has to go somewhere.

In this case? I think it's supply trying to make demand.

We have one of these down in Tasmania.

Its like that morgue truck bought before the port Arthur Massacre occurred then sold off after.

The bear cat has been used in raids for drugs, weapons(yes gun bans don't work)
I do not even believe it was necessary to use it, They said when we got it, its for terror related events.

I think the state government has wasted money on allot of police toys.
Speed camera trailers that don't even work or are not calibrated properly.

Police numbers in my state has been decreased for the past few years.

I notice when I go out at night in my car I do not get pulled over and put on the breathalyser like I always would. This scares me because what about the people not doing the right thing.

Then they waste money on this not needed poo.

They have been purchasing these at a suspicious rate in my opinion. Just recently there was some hype over it.
DHS purchases 2,700 light-armored vehicles...

According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.
DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).

It really makes you wonder...

Why do the police need kit like this? Again and again I keep saying this dear readers look back it will show you the future. Germany did the exact same thing. When you start to see it at the local level the time is very near.

The Nazi rise to power was slow and calculated. They slowly using propaganda and fear brought the people around. What do you see happening today in the US. The progressive filth using propaganda and fear are slowly brainwashing the masses.
