So have a close look at this one...

To the right we see a figure similar in lithe form to the Vinca figurines, and also slight indications of similar costume type also probably masked, and apparently holding a Sar-ur weapon.

Or a standard issue Federation Phaser Rifle

Here again we see good indication of bird-mask type representation;

Or a Ubese Breath Mask

Perhaps there was taught the ways of the collective but probably they were no more bees than they were birds, behind the mask.

I agree and behind the mask might just be a pretty face those hips sure look female oh and that hair...

Now I need to Dream about Poppies...

That is an epic comparison!

Janeways Phaser Rifle looks just like what she is holding in the Sumerian seal. You can tell its a chick, cuz the hips.

and the mask.

Amazing thread here and here:

I agree with you re the planets - in that one of the scrolls shows 7 planets - the four below the line show sun, moon, mercury and venus and the 3 above the line show Mars, jupiter and saturn. The line perhaps represents the asteroid belt. These were the visible planets to the human eye.

It is, as you say unusual for their scrolls to depict something mundane such as working in fields etc. IMHO they are possible depicting a Sumerian idea that man was made through experimentation and whilst this went on, a variety of concoctions of animal versus man appeared and that is possibly what is shown on the scrolls. However its a controversial view which many find either offensive or against their religious preferences, which they then try to silence the proposer.

I do think with the scattering of these scrolls we are very unlucky and would learn more were the scrolls put together and examined en masse. The tablets come from a number of different libraries from the various Townships unearthed and probably corroborate much of the Sumerian beliefs. I do see modern religions and scholarship not having a desire to see these beliefs made public as they would obviously mean oour current history would need rewriting - as most of us know it is already highly inaccurate without adding the Sumerian information to the mix.

An educated Archeologist would scoff at anything so preposterous, us laymen cannot possibly know what is being depicted in the clay cylinders because we are too ignorant...

And yet it is all fine and dandy for them to exude how this is a "Mythical Creature" and does not exist! Ridiculous really...

This was a Genetically altered hybrid Monster.

I love how they mythologically depict that it is being bridled or wrangled for onlookers...

p.s. is that link you gave me here Chris from the Blog Secret Sun?

The sum total of seals discovered is very widely scattered with the majority being in private collections, which is a pity as an objective analysis should be done of the entire corpus, those who look at the more intriguing examples online just tend to rehash the same old, but there really is much more out there.

Like i've stated previously i don't think there is a 'sensible answer' for the fully masked and costumed Vinca figures, they can't be squared with Neolithic costumes, full masks with elongated nose protection, large dark protective eyes pieces, no mouth or provision for breathing naturally, shoulder and knee padding, tight fitting boots, geometric patterned full body suits.

Anthropomorphic creatures don't require full environmental protection suits normally...

Note how the strangely slender arm across the chest on that Vinca figurine is also seen on the Mesopotamian seal second down, a curious correspondence from cultures quite widely seperated.

The suggestion of involvement with opiate poppy production is interesting, maybe the collective were inter-stellar hippies

Hmm Slender arms and those hips don't lie! It has to be Tali!

Now of course one could say that the Lady of Vinča inspired the artistry design of the character Tali'Zorah from the Space Opera game Mass Effect.

Tali'Zorah incidentally was given a psudo-eurpoean "Gypsy/Serbian" accent which is where the Lady of Vinča was found!

But seriously who (or what) inspired The Vinča to create a very skin tight completely covering "body suit" with design seams and breathing mask?

You are gonna need to tell me what is going on here?

The problem with deciding the details here is that the seals/cylinders (they are not scrolls) are about the size of your thumbnail.

Some of them are carved out of agate.

It's VERY hard to get detail into something the size of your thumbnail, even with today's tools such as magnifying glasses and diamond-tipped scribes. They did some amazing work at that size but they're still limited by their tools.

I think that if you're looking for costume and designs, you should look at larger items where the artist's intent can be better understood.

The Naga or 7 headed serpent and the 7 headed Dragon show up in all sorts of ancient literature from the Mahabharata to Revelations. They could deserve their own thread for that matter.

Imagine an earthquake or other disaster that frees all of the Animals in a local zoo. If they could not be wrangled back into cages they would be free to room and possibly reproduce. This is how the legends came about in my ever so humble opinion.
